William B. "Billy" Edwards, age 78, of the Ridgefield Section of Horry County, died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Edwards was born in Conway, a son of the late William Graddy and Marie Ryan Edwards. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Edwards received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star and was a member of the American Legion Post 111, the VFW and DAV. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the South Carolina Employment Security Commission.
Surviving are his wife, Ester Drew Edwards of Conway; three sons, William Greg Edwards and his wife Roma of Longs, James Michael Edwards and his wife Renee' and Christopher Clyde Edwards and his wife Beth all of Conway; three brothers, Walter Eugene Edwards of Conway, James Graddy "Jim" Edwards of Pinoplis, SC and Wilbur Lewis Edwards of Bayboro; four sisters, Elizabeth Stanley of Kingstree; Ann Smith, Rebecca Chestnut and Louise Jordan all of Conway; five grandchildren Drew Edwards, Jessica Edwards, Steven Edwards, Katie Edwards and Shelley Edwards.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday from Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Troy Metzner officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Maybelle Casselman Long

Maybelle Casselman Long, age 88, wife of the late German Long, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Conway Nursing Center.
Mrs. Long was born in Andrews, SC, a daughter of the late Jonas and Lottie Ethridge Casselman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andrews.
Surviving are two daughters, Clara L. Thomas and her husband Eugene of Columbia and Sara L. Fox and husband Dan of Conway; two sons Windle Long and his wife Linda of Hemingway and Olin Long and his wife Genevieve of Andrews; two sisters Estelle Ethridge of Andrews and Lucy Morris of North Charleston; one brother Theron Casselman of Loris; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Friday from the First Baptist Church of Andrews with Rev. Paul Sapp officiating. Burial will follow in Penny Royal Memorial Gardens, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 PM at the church prior to the service.

Elizabeth Kay Matthews

Elizabeth Kay DiSantis Matthews, age 26, wife of Steve Matthews, of the Cool Springs Section of Horry County, died Monday, January 26, 2004.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Pinehurst, NC, a daughter of Paul Victor and Vicki Cooke DiSantis.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Pinehurst, NC and her husband of Aynor are: two sons, Cole Rayford Matthews and Christian Taylor Matthews and one daughter, Katelyn Lee Matthews; one sister, Jennifer DiSantis of Southern Pines, NC.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Robbin King officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Hal Richardson

Buster Richardson, age 59, of Lucas Bay Road, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Richardson was born in Horry County, a son of the late Malcolm and Bertha Phillips Richardson. He was employed with Horry Electric and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Richardson was a great husband and a terrific father. He was predeceased by a sister Pauline Davis and a brother Buddy Richardson.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Kay Richardson of Conway; two sons Brian Lamar Richardson and his fiance' Amber Fire of Middlefield, OH and Harley McKinly Richardson and his wife Dawn of Cleveland, OH; one daughter, Heather Richardson Johnson and her husband Patrick of Green Sea; two brothers, Laverne Richardson and his wife Bernice of Columbia and John Henry Richardson and his wife Frances of Conway.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Sunday at Hillcrest cemetery with Rev. Billy Carroll officiating,
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge.

Robert Bruce Kratzer

Robert Bruce Kratzer, age 72, of Chelsey Lake Drive, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Kratzer was born in Elyria, OH, a son of the late Robert Bruce and Bernice Weaver Kratzer. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife Irma Kratzer of Conway; two sons Paul Kratzer of Medina, OH and Scott Kratzer of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; two grandchildren Susan White and Robbie Kratzer both of Mississippi; two step-sons, Don Ackerson of Rockwall, TX and Daniel Ackerson of Elk Grove, CA; one step-daughter Cindy Bivins of Rockwall, TX.

George Thomas Dodd

George Thomas Dodd, age 73, of Timber Ridge Road, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Kingston Nursing Center.
Mr. Dodd was born in Woodside Queens, NY, a son of the late George A. and Catherine Neubert Dodd. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Elks and the VFW. Mr. Dodd was employed with the NY City Housing Authority for over 30 years. Mr. Dodd served as an Airborne Intercept Operator (Staff Sergeant) with the Marine Corps Night Fighters Squadron during the Korean Conflict. He completed 8 years service in the USMC/USMCR. Mr. Dodd also served 27 years in the Air National Guard as a Communications Maintenance Superintendent retiring as Senior Master Sergeant.
Surviving are his wife Laurel Dodd of Conway; four daughters Georgette Kossmann and Catherine Dodd both of Farmingdale, NY, Leslie Dodd of Westminister, Co and Kimberly Dodd of Wantagh, NY; two sons, Michael Dodd of Farmingdale, NY and Keith Dodd of Westminister, CO; three grandchildren, Thomas Walters, Michael Vincent Dodd and Nicole Dodd; one sister, Dorothy Ehmsen of Lynbrook, NY and one brother Donald Dodd of Malibu, CA; several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 PM Monday from St. James Catholic Church with Father Rick LaBrecque officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Marion and Father of New Jersey are his wife: Eula Cronk of Conway; two sons: Marc Rider and Scottie Rider both of Conway; one daughter: Tory Snow of Pa.; three grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Lee Chadwick and Donna Marie Henry both of Marion; one brother: Michael John Cronk of Marion.

Clyde Lilly, age 87, of West Bear Grass Rd., died Monday, December 8, 2003 at his residence following an illness.
Mr. Lilly was born in Horry County, son of the late Robert Chadburn and Julie Rabon Lilly. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. He was predeceased by one son, J.C. Lilly, two granddaughters, Carolyn Marie Tyler and Brenda Gail Brown; one great-grandson and three brothers.
Surviving are his wife Zillie Lilly of Longs; one daughter, Francis "Cecil" Tyler Blanton of Longs and one daughter-in-law, Sharri Hammond; two sisters, Sophia Lewis of Murrells Inlet and Edith Roberta Littles of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Barbara Martin of Virginia, Patty Milan of Columbia, Chad Lilly and Jennifer Julian both of Myrtle Beach; four great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband John Majocha; three sons, John Majocha of Toms River, NJ, James Majocha of Island, NJ, Steven Majocha of Garwood, NJ; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

born February 5, 1921 in Lynx, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ernie and Ethel Coldiron Spires. Mrs. Englar was a member of the Women’s Club of Pikesville, MD. She had been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, American Heart Assoc. and a hospital volunteer all in Pikesville, MD. Mrs. Englar was of the Protestant faith. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Englar.
Surviving are daughters and husbands, Carol and Gerald Diehl of York, PA and Sharon and Chuck Derickson of North Myrtle Beach; sons and wives, Robert and Sandy Englar of Marietta, GA, John and Linda Englar of Greensboro, NC and Richard and Jill Englar of Finksburg, MD; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Charles “Ernie” Spires and Keith Spires both of Portsmouth, OH and sisters, Audrey Fannin of Akron, OH, Jean Griffith and Joy Spires both of Portsmouth, OH.
