Linda B. Fisher
Buffalo resident

BUFFALO Linda Gail Berry Fisher, 55, wife of Ronnie Fisher of 112 Jennings Circle, Buffalo, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at 9:51 p.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness. Mrs. Fisher was born in Union on April 10, 1949, a daughter of the late Carl Berry Sr. and Jessie Lee Sanders Berry. She was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacy Massad and husband Mark of Summerville and Jessica Fisher of the home; a son, Kevin Fisher of Buffalo; a sister, Connie Liner of Union; two brothers, Donnie Berry of Union and Carl Berry Jr. of York; and two grandsons, Devin Fisher of Union and Dallas Massad of Summerville.

Mrs. Fisher was predeceased by a son, Rod Fisher. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Mr. James Maness and the Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jess Berry, Brad Eller, Andy Eller, Albert Jennings Jr., Steve Berry and Glenn Berry.

The following are asked to assemble at the church Friday at 2:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort: Ricky Baldwin, Mack Elliott, Ronald Garner, Perry Ford, Jimmy Massey and Danny McGlockin. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 9 p.m. and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Friday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 112 Jennings Circle, Buffalo. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Sallie R. Lomax
Former Spartanburg resident

Sallie Ruth Lomax, 77, former resident of Spartanburg, died Monday, April 14,2003, at 3:15 a.m. in Piedmont Nursing Center in Greer. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Rocky D. Childers
Army veteran

LOCKHART Rocky Dean Childers, 48, of Lockhart, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at 5:06 p.m. in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. Mr. Childers was born in Orange County, Calif., on March 26, 1956, a son of the late Mason and Dolly Cameron Childers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Amy and was a member of the Church of God.

Surviving are three daughters, Angela Walls of Dothan, Ala., Christa Blanton of Gaffney and Kara Bigham of Monroe, N.C.; two sisters, Diane Hubbard of Jonesville and Cheryl Dabbs of Boiling Springs; three brothers, Terry Childers of Florida, Gary Childers of Boiling Springs and Mickey Childers of North Carolina; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. William Waters Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel following the memorial service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, S.C. 29615. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Kristie C. Cudd
Gaffney resident

GAFFNEY Kristie Lorraine Carver Cudd, 25, wife of Sean Cudd of 118 London Lane, Gaffney, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Gaffney from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Cudd was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her mother, Kathy Lorraine Carver of Gaffney; her step-father, John Davis of Gaffney; and her maternal grandfather, John T. Carver of Gaffney. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mildred M. Carver.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tommy Wright. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family is at the residence of her maternal grandfather, John T. Carver, 1039 McKown's Mtn. Road, Gaffney and will receive friends at the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, 211 E. Frederick St., Gaffney, today from 6 until 8 p.m.

Roland Engeler
Former Union industrialist

NINETY SIX Roland Heinz Engeler, 69, resident of 125 Belle Rive Drive, husband of Traute E. Engeler, died Tuesday,April 13, 2004, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Paris, France, March 6, 1935, he was a native of Elgg, Switzerland and was the son of the late Karl and Gertrud Kundt Engeler. Mr. Engeler was a graduate of The National Institute of Textile Technology in Reutlingen, Germany, and spent his entire professional life in the textile industry. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1966 and became U.S. citizens in 1973. He was the founder and owner of Executive Knits Inc. in Union from 1970 until his retirement in 2001. Mr. Engeler was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Andrea Kristin Johnson and her husband, Gale of Missoula, Mont., two sons, Marc Roland Engeler of Greenwood and Ralph Martin Engeler and his wife, Linda of Pembroke Pines, Fla., two brothers, Karl Engeler and Erich Engeler, both of Switzerland, a sister, Elma Lorenz Engeler of Switzerland; and six grandchildren, Kristina Carlino, Davis Engeler, Austin Engeler, Brey Engeler, Colton Engeler and Daniel Johnson. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Walter Hickman officiating.

A private family enrichment will be held in Oakbrook Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646. Blyth Funeral Home of Greenwood is assisting the family.

Kayla Lewis
Spartanburg County native

INMAN Kayla Danielle Lewis, 3, daughter of Johnnie and Donna Garner Lewis of 751 Rainbow Lake Road, died Monday in Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Spartanburg County.

In addition to her parents Kayla is survived by a brother, Jonathan Kyle Lewis of the home; maternal grandparents, Brenda and Maurice Kinlaw of Boiling Springs; maternal great grandmothers, Evelyn Folsom Petty of Boiling Springs and Mandy Lou Garner of Jonesville; paternal grandparents, Barbara McCall of Greenville and S.K. (Mac) McCall of Boiling Springs; paternal great grandmother, Cecil Mann of Greenville and paternal great grandfather, W.H. McCall of Easley.

Kayla was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Donald S. Garner of Jonesville. Visitation will be tonight from 7 until 9 at Eggers Funeral Home in Boiling Springs. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Lee Mabry and the Rev. Fred Quidley. Interment will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Randy Simpson, Jeff Threatt, Randy Spake and Jason Wilson. The family will be at the home of Brenda and Maurice Kinlaw, 627 Parkland Avenue, Woodfin Ridge. Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs has charge of arrangements.

Ella H. Robbins
Sharon native

SHARON Ella Hames Robbins, 87, of 5007 Cabal Road, Sharon, widow of Floyd Ike Robbins Sr. died Monday, April 12, 2004 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. She was born Aug. 29, 1916 in Sharon, a daughter of the late Arthur and Pankie Smarr Hames. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church where she sang in the hymn choir.

Surviving are four daughters, Geneva Pendergrass, Linda Boyd, Dorothy Wilson and Doretha Jamison, all of Sharon; two sons, Floyd Ike Robbins Jr. of Chester and Billy Robbins of Sharon; two sisters, Pankie B. Jeter of Chester and Maggie J. Crawford of Charlotte, N. C.; 32 grandchildren, three of whom were reared in the home; Bobby, Carl and Jeffrey Pendergrass; 61 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church by the Rev. Raymond Davis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. The body may be viewed from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, 301 E. Liberty St., York, and will be placed in the church Saturday at 1 p.m.

Edward Lee Rodgers
Retired from J.P. Stevens & Co.

JONESVILLE Edward Lee Rodgers, 78, of 693 Rodgerstown Road, Jonesville, husband of Alma Glenn Rodgers, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Union County on Dec. 10, 1925, a son of the late Madora Dawkins Rodgers. He was retired from J.P. Stevens & Co. textile mill after 17 years service. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers-in-law, S.T. (Yvonne) Glenn and Robert Glenn, both of Union; two sisters-in-law, Ola Glenn and Texanna (Pletro) Bates of Union; an uncle, Willie Rodgers of Winston Salem, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodson Chapel Baptist Church in Union with the Rev. Robert E. Collins officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Saturday to await the hour of service. The family is at the home, 693 Rodgerstown Road, Jonesville. The Carolina Mortuary has charge of the arrangements.

Sallie Jane Sanders
Newberry County native

WHITMIRE Funeral services for Sallie Jane Sanders of 28 Sanders Road (Maybinton), wife of James A. Sanders Sr., will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Seekwell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Sanders died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Wallace Thomson Hospital. She was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Clarence Sims Sr. and Hattie Means Sims. She was a member of Seekwell Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board. Mrs. Sanders was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Bright Star Chapter #245 and Women's Home Aid Society #33.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Lois (James) Harp of Whitmire, Patricia (Will) Dawkins of Enoree, Emily Joyce (Michael) Lyles and Sallie (Eltoria) Renwick, all of Whitmire; four sons, James (Bessie) Sanders Jr. of Whitmire, Clarence (Trudie) Sanders of Union, Abram Ham (Lavonne) Sanders of Whitmire and Willie (Margaret) Sanders of Union; two sisters, Carrie (Bennie) Dawkins and Fannie (Charlie) Hill, all of Union; two brothers, James H. (Margaret) Sims of Whitmire and Willie Odell Sims of Newberry; 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. F.B. Pratt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Norman A. Metivier
Retired Milliken Engineer

SPARTANBURG Norman A. Metivier, 70, of Spartanburg, formerly of New Bedford, Mass., died Monday, April 14, 2003, at Boston Medical Center. A native of New Bedford, Mass., he was the son of the late Emile and Blanche Tetrault Metivier.

He was a retired development engineer in women's outerwear for Milliken & Co. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a volunteer for Mobile Meals, and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. A graduate of St. Anthony High School in New Bedford, Mass., he was also a graduate of The New Bedford Institute of Textile and Technology.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Mercier Metivier of the home; two daughters, Robbia M. Jolly of Rock Hill and Lori A. Ruffing of Deerfield Beach, Fla., two sons, Christopher J. Metivier of Mt. Pleasant and Timothy N. Metivier of Allen, Texas, and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be 7 until 9 tonight at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Michael R. DeAntonio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boston University School of Medicine, Amyloidosis Treatment Fund, 715 Albany Street, K-503, Boston, Mass. 02118, or to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 North Dean St., Spartanburg, S.C., 29302. The family is at the home. Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel has charge of arrangements.
