Eileen Matthews Weeks, age 83, of 16th Ave. North, died Sunday November 23, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Weeks was born February 13, 1920 in Cork, Ireland, a daughter of the late CMDR. Robert B Matthews USN and May O’Brien Matthews. She was a US Army WWII veteran serving in Britain, Germany and France. Mrs. Weeks was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was a very kind, caring, considerate and giving "Lady".
Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by her husband CMSgt William L. Weeks USAF.
Survivors include three sons, James L. Weeks of Little River, Gary Weeks of Surfside Beach, Patrick B. Weeks of Socastee; one daughter, Suzanne Lara of Murrells Inlet; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be said 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial to follow in Oceanwoods cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. A prayer vigil will be said at 7:00 PM.
Laura M. Long

Laura M. Long, age 71, wife of Charlie E. Long, of Rush Road, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Conway Medical Center following an illness.
Mrs. Long was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Jesse Bryant and Carrie McCormick Moore. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Conway. Mrs. Long was an excellent seamstress prior to retirement and worked as a saleslady with the Grab Bag and at Wal-Mart. She was predeceased by her son Edward Long and three brothers Bright Moore, James Moore and Marion Moore.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 51 years of Conway are one daughter, Diane Douglas and her husband Ernie of Conway; one sister Joyce M. Jones and her husband Jimmy of Conway; one granddaughter, Nicolette Sellers and her friend Cody Fullwood of Aynor and one great-grandson Dylan Fullwood of Aynor.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

CONWAY - Jack T. Chambless, age 67 of Citadel Drive, died Friday, November 21, 2003 at Conway Medical Center following an illness.
Mr. Chambless was born in Ocklochnee, Ga. a son of the late Jeptha and Carrie Safronia Thornhill Chambless. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Shriners, VFW Post 641 and was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife: Lillian Chambless of Conway; one son: John Keith Chambless of Columbia; two daughters: Wendy Chambless Brown and Debbie Wharton both of Columbia; two step-daughters: Susie Brazzell and Joyce Ann Flemming both of Columbia; three grandchildren; two sisters: Ellen Packett and Mary Bradshaw both of Florida.
Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM Sunday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Baxley officiaiting.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Leon Norwood Gore, Jr.

Leon Norwood Gore, Jr., age 53, of Dongola Highway, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Gore was born in Conway, a son of Leon Norwood Gore, Sr., and Jane Spivey Gore. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Mr. Gore was a member of Conway Masonic Lodge #381 and a member of the Omar Shrine Temple. He was a US Navy Veteran and retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Conway after 30 years of service.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Conway are his wife, Louise Harrelson Gore of Conway; one son Jason Leon Gore of Conway and one daughter Tamara Gore Spangler of Conway; one brother, Richard D. "Dickie" Gore of Conway; two sisters, Deborah Gore Spivey of Conway and Gail Gore Smith of Hearndon, VA; two grandchildren, Madison Spangler and Preston Spangler.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday from Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Troy Metzner and Rev. Rodney Hoard officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

Juanita Long Parler, age 82, of Boggy Road, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Parler was born in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Julian and Annie Conner Causey. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Parler was the pianist at Maple Baptist Church for many years and attended the University of South Carolina. She was predeceased by her first husband Barney Long, second husband Harry Parler and one son Larry Long.
Surviving are one son, James H. "Jimmy" Long of Conway; two daughters, Ann L. Vereen and her husband Mike of Myrtle Beach and Suzie L. Podger of Little River; four grandchildren, Steve Vereen, Jarrett Vereen and his wife Heather, Nicholas Huckabee and Elizabeth Huckabee; three great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Vereen, Steven Vereen and Jacob Vereen; one brother Jehu Causey of Conway; one step-son, Joe Parler and his wife Saundra of Conway and one step-daughter, Beverly Ford and her husband Larry of Shrevesport, LA; four step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Murrells Inlet - Virginia Barnes Spence, age 86 of Vauxhall Ave died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
born April 2, 1917 in Elm City, NC, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Emma Harrison Barnes. Mrs. Spence was a homemaker. She was a member of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Pearl Smith Circle. Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by brother, Edwin Barnes and sister, Grace Funderburk.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Don Spence; daughter, Virginia Anne Reed and husband David W.; grandchildren, Laura Anne Sturkie and husband Mark, Stephanie Virginia Reed and Eric Spence Reed and wife Jennifer all of Lexington, SC; great grandchildren, Sarah Anne Sturkie, Hannah Elizabeth Sturkie and Anderson Spence Reed and brother, William Barnes of Wilson, NC.
Services will be 3:00 PM, Friday at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.

Virginia Davis Forgy, age 82, wife of the late George Leo Forgy, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Regency Hospital in Florence.
Mrs. Forgy was born in Polkton County, NC, a daughter of the late Preston C. and Leola Thomas Davis.
Surviving are one daughter, Joy F. Hodgson and her husband Don of Nichols; one sister Nell Mickelboro of Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Jennifer Bensoussan of Florida and Bryan Draper; two great-grandchildren Joshua Bensoussan and Jessica Bensoussan.

Dolores Beverly "Buck" Creel, age 66, of Willow Greens Drive, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Conway Medical Center.
Ms. Creel was born in Darlington, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest Cleveland and Phila Vaughn Beverly. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conway. Ms. Creel graduated from Conway High School and Columbia Business College. She was predeceased by a son, Phillip Russell Creel and a brother Richard Donald Beverly.
Surviving are one son, Benjamin J. Creel of Conway; three daughters, Paula D. Creel, Meredith C. Neal and Michelle C. Richardson all of Conway; two brothers, Choc Beverly and Randy A. Beverly both of Conway; one sister Gwen Mishoe of Conway; twelve grandchildren, Elliott, Daniel, Charity, Madalyn, Reuben Smith, Tiffany Varga, Jillian and A.J. Neal, Grace, Clint, Brett and Whit Richardson; one great-grandchild, Joe Henry Sawyer, IV.

Vera Burton
NINETY SIX - Vera Beatrice Human Burton, 90, of 3520 Highway 246 South, widow of Orville Verner Burton, died Sunday, September 16, 2001.
born in Bowman, GA, she was a daughter of the late Jones Lewis and Dexter Ann Christian Human. She was a retired insurance agent with American General Insurance Company and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ninety Six, where she was president of the Winsome Sunday School Class and was a member of the choir. She formerly served as church clerk for many years.
Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon & Georganne Burton of Urbana, IL; a sister, Lennie Sue Brown of Royston, GA; a brother, Oscar Coy Human of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren, Vera Joanna Burton, Maya Cerene Gouliard, Morgan Butler Johnston, Beatrice Georgia Burton, and Alice-Anne Burton; and three great-grand-children, Kathleen, Toby, and Piper.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Ninety Six with the Rev. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Mill Shoals Baptist Church cemetery, Royston, GA.
Pallbearers will be Bill Human, Arnold Human, Jones Echols, Seabron Human, Paul Brown, and Will Johnston, IV.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.
