Cyn-Dee Pearson taught many years in the Harrisburg, PA area and most recently at Horry Georgetown Technical College in Georgetown, SC. She was a member of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Harrisburg, PA are her husband, Jim Pearson; daughters and husbands, Laura and Andrew Maychruk of River Forest, IL and Maureen and Mark Brehm of Easton, PA; grandchildren, Lydia, Irene and Henry Maychruk and Reeves, Carrington and Addison Brehm; brother, Gregory Ricci and wife Barbara and sister, Georgianne Hess and husband, Geoffrey all of Harrisburg, PA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church.

Myrtle Beach - Shirley A. Hurston Godfrey, age 71, wife of James Albert Godfrey, of Loblolly Ln., died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Conway Manor after an illness.
born February 20, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert Alfred and Estelle Jennings Hurston. Mrs. Godfrey was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict in the Medical Corps. She was a graduate of Federal City College, now known as the University of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Godfrey was a member of Alexander Memorial Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. and attended Forestbrook Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed writing poetry and was a primitive artist.
Surviving in addition to her husband are: her son, Karl F. Godfrey of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Alberta G. Godfrey of Owns Mills, Maryland two sisters, Elizabeth Golden and Mary E. Thomas; two brothers, Alfred Hurston and Gerald F. Hurston and a number of nephews, nieces, grand nephews & nieces, cousins, and a host of in-laws.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Jim Shriver officiating.

born January 6, 1928 in Ozone Park, Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alice Schuster and William Reinig. Sally completed her education including a master's degree in guidance and counseling in NY City. She worked in education and school counseling in NY for most of her career. Upon retirement to Surfside Beach, she worked as a licensed real estate agent and was a member of and officer of the Surfside Beach Garden Club and a volunteer at the Surfside Beach Library. Sally also worked for many years as an electoral poll worker in the community. She was a member of St. Michael RC Church in Garden City Beach. Sally will always be remembered and loved as a super wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend to all.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Walter J. Kelley; daughter, Susan Kelley Shields and husband Robert of Woodbridge, CT; son, Peter W. Kelley and Arlene of Wading River, NY; brothers, William Reinig, Jr. and wife, Marion of Annapolis, MD and Edward Reinig and wife, Barbara of San Juan Capistrano, CA; grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel Kelley Shields of Woodbridge and Jeffery Paul Kelley of Wading River along with a devoted cousin, Helen Williams of Lancaster, CA and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00, Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel

William McCarthy

North Myrtle Beach - William Leon McCarthy, age 73, of 46th Avenue South, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
born October 7, 1932, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Lou A. Peterson McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and later retired from BellSouth after 35 years of service. He was a member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church in North Myrtle Beach where he participated in the men's bible study and adult Sunday school. Mr. McCarthy previously was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church where he was instrumental in building and improving the school. He practiced good citizenship, was a proud member of the North Myrtle Beach Republican Club, and often worked for improvements in his Windy Hill neighborhood. He was known to his family as a good husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by those who knew and appreciated his many talents. He was particularly pleased to be called by terms of endearment - Dad, U. B. or Uncle Bill, Pop Pop, Grand Pa - bestowed upon him by his many loved ones in his large Irish family.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Sister Judith McCarthy Order of "The Sisters of St. Joseph" Baden, PA, and Mary Lou McCarthy. Surviving are his wife, Ray Rachel Hedrick McCarthy of North Myrtle Beach; three sons, Michael William McCarthy and his wife, Cheryl of Misawa, Japan, George Steven McCarthy of New York City, and James Morgan Hedrick, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of North Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Rachel Hedrick Stephens and her husband, John, of North Myrtle Beach, and J. Beth Hedrick of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Desire' Angel McCarthy Lester and her husband, Jeremy, Devon Rene' McCarthy, Bryan William McCarthy, Chapel Pauline Hedrick, and Shelly Jean Hedrick; one great-grandchild, Bailey Ann Lester; three brothers, Dr. John A. McCarthy and his wife, Betty, of Lighthouse Point, FL, Richard S. McCarthy of Youngstown, OH, and Charles H. McCarthy of San Antonio, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at King of Glory Lutheran Church with Rev. Pamela Cook and Rev. Hobby Outten officiating. Burial will follow in Southeastern Memorial Gardens directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Pall Bearers are Dan J. McCarthy, John J. McCarthy, Tim McCarthy, Gerald E. McDaniel, Jerry D. George Elmer Howell, age 85, of Sherwood Drive, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Howell was born in Conway, the son of the late Joseph Daniel and Lula Hearl Howell. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Conway for 58 years, past president of the John McCutcheon Class, former Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Methodist Men, and served on the Administrative Board. Mr. Howell was also a member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He was a member of Horry Post 111 of American Legion where he served as commander and finance officer. Mr. Howell was a member of the Lions Club where he served as President and Chaplain. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WW II in the South Pacific. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Dargan Lumber Manufacturing Company for 30 years, and owned Carolina Mills Lumber Company for 20 years. He was part owner of Sunbelt Lumber Company. Mr. Howell was predeceased by an infant son.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Johnson Howell. Two daughters; Nancy Howell Land and her husband Ken of Conway, Debbie Howell Stanley and her husband Dow. Five grandchildren, Brad Land, Brett Land, Matthew Land, Elizabeth Stanley and Fiancé Eric Faulk, Julie Stowe and her husband Patrick. Six brothers, Woodrow Howell of Conway, Abel Howell of Conway, Aaron Howell of Georgetown, Malachi Howell of Conway, Amos Howell of Myrtle Beach, Fred Howell of Conway. Three sisters, Nolie Dennis and Frances Cook of Conway, Betty Hucks of Aynor.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Brittain, Rev. Ken Land and Rev. Ben Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

Alice Jackson Tait, age 89, wife of the late William John Tait, of Quail Run, died Wednesday, April 17, 2006 at Conway Medical Center.
born July 2, 1916 in Newton, Massachusettes, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence Buffum Jackson. Mrs. Tait was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA with a BA Degree in Music Education and later received a Masters Degree in in Elementary Education from from Case Western Reserve University in Clevland, OH. She was a member of of Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity for Women. Mrs. Tait had worked at Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, PA establishing a music division and later taught school in Euclid, OH for 30 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway and belonged to the Emma Thompson Service Class and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Peter Horry chapter of the DAR in Conway and member of the Fine Arts Club. Mrs. Tait played the cello for many years in orchestras, including the Long Bay Symphony and playing in the classical String Quartet for weddings and receptions. She had been a volunter at Conway Hospital for more than twenty years and member of Conway Hospital Foundation, Emeritus.
Survivors include her brother, Kenneth B. Jackson of Houston, TX; two nephews; and her dear friends and caretakers, Jim and Mary Fite.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, April 24, 2006 at First United Methodist Church of Conway with the Rev. Ben Barnett officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum

Mr. Boatwright was born in Marion, SC, the son of the late Jackson Grover Boatwright, Sr. and Jimmie Rowell Boatwright. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Conway. He graduated from Carlisle Military School and USC with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from Midlands Technical College as manager of the bookstore.Mr. Boatwright was predeceased by a brother, Frank Y. Boatwright.
Survivors include his wife, Wilmarie Boatwright of Conway; one son, Dr. Russell Boatwright and his wife Patrice of Conway; one daughter, Tammy Boatwright Duryea and her husband Dan of Bluffton, SC; four grandchildren, Russ and Chandler Boatwright of Conway, Savanna and Taylor Clary of Bluffton, SC, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

HODGES — Tracey Tolbert Crowder, 25, of 107 Robin Court, died Sept. 25, 2001, at her home.
born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Robert E. “Gene” and Marilyn Mize Tolbert. She was an employee of Oakleaf Village in Greer and a member of Grace Community Church.
Survivors include her parents of Greenwood; a daughter, Kindle Lyn Crowder of the home; a brother, Brian Tolbert of Salt Lake City; and maternal grandmother, Ethel Mize of Seymour, Tenn.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens by Dr. Rodney Schultz and the Rev. John Walsh.
Visitation is at the graveside after the service.
The family is at the home of her parents, Gene and Marilyn Tolbert, 105 Oxford Road, Druid Hills.
