born in Greenwood, he was a son of Dr. Vernon B. and Kathryn Moore. A graduate of Greenwood High School, The Citadel and Clemson University, he was an entomologist and owner of Moore Pest Control Co.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; a daughter, Lauren Moore of Anderson College; a son, Eric Moore of Clemson University; and two brothers, Barry Moore of Fort Payne, Ala., and Allan Moore of Hampton.
Graveside services will be conducted at 4 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens by Dr. J. William Harris.
The family is at the home of his parents, 209 Forest Lane.

GREENWOOD — Theo Sylvester Vaughn Jr., 74, widower of Mary Fain Vaughn, died Sept. 21, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Theo. S. Vaughn Sr. and Sue Brown Vaughn. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Matthews Plant and was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Vaughn of North Carolina; a son, Randy Jerry Vaughn of Bennettsville; a sister, Betty Bratcher of Greenwood; two brothers, Edward Vaughn of Greenwood and Floyd Vaughn of Waynesville, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Shiloh and Matthew Wilson of the home. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Curtis. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harley Funeral Home.

BRONX, N.Y. — Lillian Rush, 82, widow of James Rush Sr., died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York.
born in Troy, she was a daughter of the late John and Evelyn Dunlap Wideman. She was a former member of Little Zion A.M.E. Church in Greenwood. She attended People Methodist church in Bronx, New York after moving to New York City in 1943.
Survivors include a son, James Authur Rush Jr. of Spartanburg; two sisters, Edna Jackson of Long Island, N.Y. and Margaret Smith of Greenwood; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at the Robinson & Son Mortuary chapel, conducted by the Rev. James E. Speed, assisted by the Rev. Gracie Smith and the Rev. Carnell Morton. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.

ABBEVILLE — Peggy Joyce Hawkins Purser, 67 of 61 Woodview Lane, widow of Mike (Dink) Purser, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at her home.
born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Norman J. and Mildred Kuykendall Hawkins. She was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church for as long as possible and Honored Disciple of Rev. Craig Neill. She was formerly a faithful member of Cooper Furniture, Belk Simpson and Stewart Land Gift Shop and retired as bookkeeper for the Housing Authority.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol P. Sample Talbot, wife of loving son-in-law T. Neil Talbot, Jr. of Ninety Six, Laura P. Busbee of Calhoun Falls and Kerry Wilson, brother Dickie Hawkins of Spartanburg, grandchildren; Joshua Wilson, Eve Sample, Jonah and JoLee Beth Busby and greatgrandchild; Matthew Wilson. He was predeceased by a brother; Buddy Hawkins.
Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane cemetery.

Nellie “Ma” Walker
BRADLEY — Nellie Edwards “Ma” Walker, 102, resident of 114 Bradley Street, widow of Robert Neel Walker died November 10, 2001 at Wesley Commons in Greenwood.
born in Greenwood County, July 10, 1899, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Bessie Langley Edwards.
Mrs. Walker was the oldest member of Troy United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the Maggie Talbert Sunday School Class and the Elise Edwards Circle of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth W. Sears of Troy and Bessie W. Jones of Greenwood, three sons, Robert N. Walker and Ted Walker, both of Greenwood and Bill Walker of Bradley. 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Walker was predeceased by two sons, Woodrow Walker and Hugh “Bones” Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Monday at the Troy United Methodist Church with Rev. George Boyd and Rev. Jerry Nelson officiating.
Burial will be in the Troy cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Stanley Walker, Curtis Walker, Homer Sears, Bill Sears, Bobby Sears, Neal Jones, Ernie Walker, Jerry Walker, Roger Walker and Tim Walker.
Honorary escort will be the Men of Troy United Methodist Church along with Smith Steifle, Bobby Young, Charles Browne, Melvin Browne, Paul Edwards, Joe Walker, Jay Walker, Bubba Walker, and Milton Walker.

ABBEVILLE — John Henry “Bowie” Wilson Jr., 74, of 122 Moore St., husband of Doris Thomas Wilson, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late John Henry Wilson Sr. and Vera Jones Wilson. He was a member of Lowndesville Presbyterian Church. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of Pirelli Cable Corporation and was a Shriner.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, John Henry “Buddy” Wilson III of Abbeville; two brothers, Margan T. Wilson of Mauldin and Ernest “Sonny” Wilson of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott Willoughby. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Mattie Miles Pressley. She was a member of the Women Aide Society No. 45 and Mount Enon Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir. She retired from Knight’s Industries.
Survivors include two sons, David Miles of Saluda and Ira Abney of Columbia; four daughters, Alberta Weaver and Valirie Ann Jones, both of Saluda, Frankie Williams of Batesburg-Leesville, and Darline Abney of Greenwood; a brother, James Myers of Saluda; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He attended Columbia public schools and the University of South Carolina. A Navy veteran, he was a jeweler with Gibson Jewelers and a computer consultant with Carolina Staffing.
Survivors include his mother of Columbia; a brother, Bryan Carroll Biggart of Columbia; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Brooks of Greenwood.
