CHAPIN — Janie Davis Frick, 81, of 139 Northwest Columbia Ave., widow of Edgar Ray Frick Sr., died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001.
born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Ellis and Alma McAdams Davis. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Fellowship Church Women’s Circle, Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher’s Society, the Dutch Fork Genealogical Society, Lexington County Retired Teachers, and founder and charter member of the Primetimers. She was a retired teacher in the Chapin area, having been honored twice as Elementary Teacher of the Year. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Cannon of Chapin, and Bonnie Valdez of Land O’Lakes, Fla.; a son, E. Ray, Jr. of Ninety Six; a sister, Kitty Craven of Ladson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services are at 3 Sunday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Primetimers, Fellowship Sunday School Class and Fellowship ELCW Circle.

McCORMICK — Waymon Andrew Langley, 90, of Route 2, Highway 221, husband of Frances Langley Walker, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Jacob Foster and Essie Lina Robison Langley. He was a graduate of McCormick High School and retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Becky L. Mayfield of Greenwood and Connie L. Anderson of Lexington; a son, W. Andrew “Andy” Langley Jr. of Abbeville; two sisters, Annie Belle L. Robinson of McCormick and Sara Mahon of Hickory Tavern; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood, conducted by the Revs. Tony Beauford and George Boyd. Burial will be in Troy cemetery. WARE SHOALS — Bobby Franklin McCoy, 69, of 16630 Highway 25 North, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001.
born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late John Oscar and Bertha Russell McCoy. He was a retired brick mason.
Survivors include a son, M. Sgt. Johnny McCoy of Biloxi, Miss.; a daughter, Teresa M. Prince of Waterloo; two sisters, Clarice Ross of Ware Shoals, and Dorothy Mills of Belton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 at Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Chuck Sprouse.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening at the home of a daughter, Teresa Prince, 216 S. Ruth Walker Road, Waterloo.
C. LeGrande Moody
FLORENCE — The Rev. Dr. C. LeGrande Moody Jr., 87, husband of Mary Virginia T. Cannon Moody, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001.
born in Dillon County, he was a son of the late C. LeGrande Moody Sr., and Hannah Gibson Moody. He attended Furman University, graduated from Elon College, received his bachelor of divinity degree from Yale University Divinity School, and his honorary doctorate of divinity from Wofford College. He was a chaplain in the Navy and received the National Order of Merit from the French Government. His pastorates include Whitmire Methodist Church, Epworth Children’s Home, Ware Shoals-Hodges Charge, Woodland Methodist Church, Central Methodist Church in Spartanburg, Grace Methodist Church, Washington Street Methodist Church and Central United Methodist Church in Florence. He served as United Methodist Church District superintendent in the Greenwood District. He was a former chairman of the Boards of Trustees for the Epworth Children’s Home and the South Carolina Methodist Advocate. He was a member of the Merger Committee.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Frances M. Brown of North Myrtle Beach, and Elizabeth M. Fiveash of Branson, Mo.; two step-sons, Fred R. Cannon of Florence, and the Rev. Robert Cannon of Rock Hill; two step-daughters, Linda Nale of Knoxville, Tenn., and Nancy Schlachte of Pleasanton, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth M. Meeks of Juno Beach, Fla., and Hannah Jane Nelson of Little River; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Services are at 11 Monday at Central United Methodist Church. Burial is in Evergreen cemetery in Dillon.

born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Odell and Lula Babb Kelley. She was a graduate of Laurens High School, was retired from Abbeville Mills and was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Abbeville.
Survivors include a son, Kelley New Sr. of Greenwood; one grandson and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Saturday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Blackwell. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

ABBEVILLE — Helen Bannister Campbell, 93, of 63 Curt Drive, widow of Curtis C. Campbell, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie T. and Kate McCullough Bannister. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bells United Methodist Church, where she was a member of The Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include a daughter, Beatrice C. Sparrow of Abbeville; two sons, James C. Campbell of Conyers, Ga. and F. Marion Campbell of Smyrna, Ga.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Monday at Bells United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lowery Drennen and Curt Hannah. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.

McCORMICK — Anna Mae Talbert Kelly, of Route 1, wife of Henry C. Kelly, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at the McCormick Health Care Center.
born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late John and Lelia Callaham Talbert. She was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Deaconess Board. She was also a member of the Women’s Home Aide Society No. 94.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a granddaughter and six great-grandchildren. The family is at the home.

Thomas A. Southerland Sr.
IVA — Thomas A. Southerland Sr., 65, of 181 A Frame Road, husband of Mary Ward Southerland, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Abbeville Memorial Hospital.
born in Whitmire, he was a son of the late Leroy Southerland and Lala Gentry Southerland. He was a graduate of Lynchburg Theological Seminary. He was employed with America’s Home Place as an expediter and was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Director and Church Treasurer. He was also a member of the Gideons, White Plains Masonic Lodge No. 321 A&FM and was a Hejaz Shriner.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are four sons, Roger A. Hope of the home, Richard Wayne Hope and Thomas A. Southerland Jr. both of Iva and Mike Suggs of Greenwood; a daughter, Tina Merritt of Iva; two sisters, Mary Farmer of Carlise and Marylin Bunderwick of Whitmire; three brothers, Ellis Southerland of Anderson and Ray Southerland and Danny Southerland, both of Whitmire; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 Monday at the First Creek Baptist Church in Iva, conducted by the Rev. Donnie Murdock. Burial is in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Anderson. The body will be placed in the church at 1.

born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Hampton and Eliza Stewart. He attended the public schools in Saluda. He was a member of Young Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a member of Pearl Chapel Lodge No. 18.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Thelma S. Hackett, a grandson, Ronnie R. Hackett and a great-granddaughter, Felicia Hackett, all of Saluda.
