Miriam Burdette
PENDLETON — Miriam Edith Self Burdette, 55, of Pendleton Square Apartments, wife of Johnny H. Burdette, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Richard C. Self Sr. and Edith Coleman Self. She was a retired nurse and singer of gospel music. She was a member of The House of Prayer for over 30 years. She was a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two sons, Dwayne Burdette of Honea Path and Michael Burdette of Anderson; a stepson, Jamie Campbell of Anderson; three daughters, Charlene Smith and Donna Johnson, both of Anderson and Carolyn Carver of Hartwell, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Hallery of Virginia and Sherry Burdette of Easley; a sister, Frances Gosnell of Anderson; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 12 Tuesday at The House of Prayer in Anderson, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Nations, the Rev. Brenda Shifflett and the Rev. Mike Harrell. Burial is in Fant’s Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Pendleton.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at The House of Prayer.

David D. Butler Sr.
GREENWOOD — David D. Butler Sr., 76, of 250 Wisewood Circle, husband of Sarah Richardson Butler, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
He was the son of the late John and Carrie Turner Butler. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Duke Power and Greenwood School District 50.
He was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, David D. Butler Jr. of the home; a daughter, Helen D. Butler of Columbia; a brother, John Butler of Greenwood; a sister, Carrie Rebecca Bowen of New York; a grandson, Andre Bookman, reared in the home and three foster daughters, Myrtle Green of Philadelphia and Willa Morgan and Marguerite Williams of Greenwood.
The family is at the home.

DUE WEST — Irving Donald Curtis, 80, of 1471 Lindsey cemetery Road, husband of Gloria Erb Curtis, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
born in Los Angeles, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Irving Curtis. He was a retired truck driver and served in the Navy during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three sons, Gary Curtis of Atlanta, Michael Curtis of Sagle, Idaho and Steven Curtis of Valders, Wis.; three sisters, Winifred Mason, Cora Woods and Prudy Cornett, all of California and seven grandchildren.

GREENWOOD — Ted Lowrance “Rance” Pearson, 61, of 109 Anderson Drive, husband of Jeanelle Shirley Pearson, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Self Regional Medical Center.
born in Greenville, he was a son of the late George Washington and Helen Ruth Lowe Pearson. He was a supervisor with Canteen Corporation in the Greenwood and Abbeville area. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, Ted L. Pearson Jr. of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and Mike Pearson of Columbia; a brother, Brian Pearson of Lexington and two grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Alvin Hodges.
Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.

GREENWOOD — Daniel Raymond Ellis, 74, of 200 Center St., husband of Edith Orr Elis, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
born in Coeburn, Va., he was a son of the late John and Mary Dingus Ellis. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, Elizabethton, Tenn., and a Navy World War II veteran. Retiring from the Air Force after 22 years of service, he also retired as a supply technician from Greenwood Mills, Chalmers Plant. He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Couples II Sunday School Class, the Big A Club and the Brotherhood and was an usher.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Peggy Riddle McHugh and Beth Riddle Lyle, both of Greenwood; a brother, Roy Ellis, and a sister, Bobbi Ornduff, both of Elizabethton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at South Main Street Baptist Church by the Revs. Dave Patterson and Ryan Eklund. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Phillip Kornet, Mark Kornet, Eric McHugh, Paul Bollman, Tyson Williams, Gene Pinson, Jim Kenney, John Gantt and William Holladay.
Honorary escorts are members of the Couples II Sunday School Class, along with Dr. David Riley, Don Brunson, Ralph Saxton, Randy Culbertson, Jimmy Rollins, Tom Jordan and R.O. Marbert.

WARE SHOALS — Clara Hammett Finley, 77, of 15 Sparks St., widow of Calvin Emmett Finley, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
born in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Willie Dexter and Cleo Rodgers Hammett. She attended Honea Path High School and Piedmont Technical College, Greenwood. She retired from Mount Vernon Mills and later worked as a nursing assistant. She was a member of Ware Shoals United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lewis Finley of Wallace, N.C., and David Finley of Powdersville; two sisters, Mollie Evans of Pelzer and Caroleen Murdock of Honea Path; a half sister, Lucille Bollinger of Greenwood; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 3 Wednesday at Ware Shoals United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gayle Summey. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2-3 Wednesday at the church.
