ABBEVILLE - Mary Maxwell Strawhorn Grisham, 89, formerly of West Pinckney Street, died Monday, November 19, 2001 at National Health Care, East Cambridge Street in Greenwood.
born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Hugh, Sr. and Sarah Ella McAllister Maxwell. She was a retired cosmetologist and was a member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church. She was a member of The Business WomenŐs Circle #2, Past Matron of the Frances Harrison Order of the Eastern Star and member of the Bow-K Garden Club.
Surviving are her stepdaughter, Jean S. Stalnaker of Abbeville; niece, Ruth Maxwell Norman of Greenwood; two step-grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren, great niece, Emalie Harrison and great nephew, Thomas Norman. Mrs. Grisham was the widow of Joe M. Strawhorn.
Graveside services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday at Long Cane cemetery with Rev. John Timmerman officiating.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 P.M.

GREENWOOD — Jessie “Tony” Brown Jr., 85, husband of Elizabeth Quarles Brown, formerly of Ohio Court, of Anna Marie Nursing Home, died Sept. 17, 2001 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Jessie and Mamie Wade Brown Sr. He was a retiree of Robert Foundry and a former employee of Greenwood Mills and White Lumber Co., formerly of Troy. He was of the African Methodist Episcopal faith.
Survivors include his wife of McCormick; three sons, Jessie Brown III and Johnnie Jean Brown, both of Greenwood and Joe Lewis Devlin of Newark, N.J.; a daughter, Brenda Starks of Edgefield; a sister, Annie Ruth Brown Patterson of Greenwood; and a grandchild.
The family will be at the home of his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Josh (Annie Ruth) Patterson, 527 Liner Street.

born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Ebie Newton Cannon. She was a retired waitress and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Ivester and Ken Gable, both of Abbeville; two daughters, Vickie Bowie of Abbeville and Winona Smith of Anderson; two brothers, Eddie Cannon and Billy Cannon, both of Greenwood; a sister, Beatrice Ingram of Greenville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home by the Rev. James Long. Burial will be in Smyrna cemetery, Lowndesville.

GREENWOOD - Vera Drummond Quintana, 80, of 1110 Marshall Road, wife of Humberto L. Quintana, died Monday, September 17, 2001 at Wesley Commons Health Care Center.
born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late James William and Fannie Mae Smith Drummond. She graduated from Spar-tanburg General Hospital as a registered nurse and had been employed in various hospitals in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and South Carolina. She was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 75th Field Hospital in Europe and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her husband of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Tim (Kathy) Newman of Griffin, GA; two brothers, Victor Drummond of Greenwood and Senator John Drummond of Ninety Six; a grandson, Jesse Santaloci; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Beatrice Yeldell of Greenwood. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Survivors include two sons, Frank A. Hughes Jr. of Richmond, Va., and William E. Hughes of Greenwood; a daughter, Anne H. Rogers of Orange Park, Fla.; a brother, R.V. Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
