Horace Paul Sharpe, 80, of 705 Sidney Drive, husband of Doris Witt Sharpe, died Saturday, September 15, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Mary Tallent Sharpe. He was a self employed paint contractor and was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church and the Baracca Sunday School Class.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Judi Sharpe Mitchell of Ft. Mill and Gregory and Teresa Sharpe Waters of Clinton; a son, Paul Thomas Sharpe of Greenwood; a sister, Ellen Edwards of Milipitas, CA; a sister-in-law, Mary Sharpe of Greenwood; two brothers, Claude Sharpe of Bradenton, FL and Sam Sharpe of Huddleston, VA; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Patterson and the Rev. David Corbett officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Terry Mitchell, Jr., Scott Plybon, Dennis Smith, Swaim Sharpe, Billy Sharpe, Jimmy Sharpe, Tyler Waters, and Tony Darnell.
Honorary escort will be members of the Baracca Sunday School Class of South Main Street Baptist Church, along with Sam Adams, Dr. Jack Tinney, Emery Bailey, Lee Cannon and Sammy Ouzts.

ABBEVILLE — Judy Morse Stone, 49, of 271 Beaver Cove, wife of James Stone, died Sept. 17, 2001, at her home.
born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Nannie Ridgeway Morse. She worked with Stone’s Body Shop and was formerly employed by George W. Park Seed Co. She was a member of Guys & Dolls Bass Fishing Association and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two brothers, William Edward “Bill” Morse of Ninety Six and Michael Leroy Morse of Omaha, Neb.
Services will be conducted at 2 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home by the Revs. Joe Black and Mike Hatfield. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar M. "Jim Ed" and Nora Harling Timmerman. She was retired from Geo. W. Park Seed Co. and Green-wood Flower Shop. She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church and the Ballew Sunday School Class.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda Brock of Greenwood; a son, Charles Street, Jr. of Columbia; a sister, Martha Timmerman of Greenwood; a brother, J. E. Timmerman of Edgefield; and two grandchildren, Stephanie Street and Kelly Brock.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Johnson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Timothy Thompson. Entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

GREENWOOD — Ralph Harvley Rush, 91, of 1021 Callison Highway, husband of Elsie Harrison Rush, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Hodges and Catherine Harvley Rush. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and a Navy World War II veteran, serving in the Hebrides Islands and obtaining the rank of chief petty officer. He retired from Cullum Electric Co. in Greenwood. A member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class, he served as chairman of the trustees, on the Administrative Board and Finance Committee and as an Usher. He was also a member of Mathews Masonic Lodge No. 358 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife of the home.
Services will be at 4 today at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Curtis. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3.
Pallbearers are Charlie Luquire, Harry Metts, Clifton Eakin, Roy Dickerson, George Warner and Richard Davis.

Dr. Mark Joseph Poole, 51, of 328 Furnace Road, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev.
Dr. Poole was the husband of Rebecca Ford Poole of the home and son of Malinda Black Poole of Gaffney and the late Dr. Edgar Morgan Poole Sr.
Dr. Poole was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he received a bachelor’s of science degree in physiological optics and a doctorate of optometry. He served the people of Cherokee County for over 20 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as the choir director, ward clerk and Boy Scout Council representative. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Limestone College Community Choir.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are four sons, Brent Poole of Provo, Utah, Nathan Poole, Adam Poole and Daniel Poole of the home; five daughters, Janelle Howard and husband, Jonathan, of Charlotte, Lisa Poole of Provo, Utah, Melody Rognan and husband, Cameron, of St. George, Utah, Crystal Poole and Sarah Poole of the home; three grandsons, Joseph, Jacob and Joshua Howard; four brothers, Dr. Edgar Poole Jr. of Spartanburg, Alan M. Poole of Eagle, Idaho, Dr. Benjamin C. Poole of Kings Mountain and Philip C. Poole of Gaffney.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Manfred Martin presiding. Body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakland cemetery.

BLACKSBURG – Macie Richardson Ramsey, 75, of 1121 S. Charleston St., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C.
Mrs. Ramsey was the wife of Paul Ramsey of the home and daughter of the late George M. and Mary Ila James Richardson. She was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church and retired from Hamrick Mills.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Bolin and Darlene and Butch Self, all of Blacksburg; a nephew, Ronnie Holland of Blacksburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Richardson, Vernie Richardson and Junior Richardson, and a sister, Louise Jones.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, conducted by Bishop Don Horton and the Revs. Broadus Heatherly and Tim Knotts. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Archie Elliott Wyatt, 83, of 118 N. Oliver St., died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Mr. Wyatt was the husband of Ann Batchler Wyatt of the home and was first married
to the late Olivine Nash Wyatt. He was the son of the late Tom and Annie Burgess Wyatt and was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas. He was currently associated with Willard’s Hash and Barbecue and was a World War II veteran and member of the VFW and American Legion.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jackie Wyatt Simmons and husband, Billy, of Gaffney; a son, Steven E. Wyatt and wife, Leslie, of Columbia; two grandchildren, Scott and Katie Simmons; and a sister, Ruth Wyatt Weathers of Pacolet.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Wyatt was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Wyatt, Clarence Wyatt, Ernest Wyatt, Jake Wyatt, Lewis Wyatt, Tommie Wyatt and Winford Wyatt.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Oakland cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Stuart Kersey.
Pallbearers will be Phil Fowler, Thomas Wyatt, Jerry Wyatt, Dennis Wyatt, David Wyatt, Tony Wyatt and Tim Wyatt.

Mary Ann Sarratt
Cherokee County native
Mary Ann Sarratt, 100, of Brookview HealthCare Center, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at 7:05 p.m. in Up-state Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of William Sarratt and daughter of the late Allen Dowdle and the late Carrie Hughes Dowdle. She was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sarratt was preceded in death by two sons, Edward Dowdle and James Jerome Dowdle, and a daughter, Essie Mae Dowdle Hopper.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Julia Dowdle, of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Brenda Green, 604 E. Jefferies St.
