Marie S. Hastings
GREENWOOD Marie Sheriff Lecroy Hastings, 80, of 103 Northhampton Court, wife of Frank Hastings, died Sept. 30, 2001, at her home.
born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie B. and Blanche Smith Sheriff. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, after 38 years of services and was a member of South Greenwood Church of God and the New Vision Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, J.W. Jake Lecroy of Greenwood and Larry Lecroy of Wildwood, Fla.; two stepsons, William David Hastings and Frank Hastings Jr., both of Greenwood; four sisters, Alma Ford of Atlanta, Sara King and Martha Rothell, both of Seneca and Faye Fail of Fort Mill; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Milton Hannah and the Rev. Mike Hammond. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Gregory Lecroy, Tony Davis, Donnie Lecroy, Frank Hastings Jr., David Hastings, Wayne Brown, Sam Burkett and Wallace Wideman.
Honorary escorts are members of the New Vision Sunday School Class and the men of South Greenwood Church of God.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

GREENWOOD Audrey Lee Booster Jenkins, 67, of Laura Lane, Greenwood died Saturday, September 29, 2001 at Self-Memorial Hospital. He was born in Greenwood County, a son of the late John M. and Ida Minick Jenkins. He was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ware Shoals, S.C.
Surviving are: his wife, Elizabeth Crawford Jenkins of Ware Shoals, SC, three daughters, Mary Jane Harris and Betty Haynes both of Ware Shoals SC and Wanda Jones of Hodges, SC also, eleven grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son, Lee Jenkins.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Emory officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Haynes, Doug Jones, Jamie Crawford, Wayne Harris, Chris Readen and Preston Crawford.
The families will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home Monday, 10-11 AM.
Martha Connor McKinney

Mrs. McKinney will lie in state one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Monday October 01, 2001 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Mrs. McKinney died Saturday, September 29, 2001. born in Social Circle, GA, she was the wife of the late Andrew H. McKinney and the daughter of the late Lawrence D. and Caroline Horton Connor. She was a member of the Plum Branch Baptist Church and a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, GA. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the McCormick Historical Society, Plum Branch Age of Wisdom Club, McCormick Senior Citizens Club and was retired from the Plum Branch Post Office.
Surviving is her daughter, Martha Jeanne Kyzer of West Columbia and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Griffin and brothers, Lawrence and Hollis Connor.
George Miles
SALUDA George Miles, 76, died Sept. 27, 2001, at the Saluda Nursing Center.
He was a son of the late Rob Farrow and Susanna Miles. He was a member of Branch Hill United Methodist Church, Agriculture Department of Saluda, Greenwood Mills and Amick Farms.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Miles of Newberry; two sons, Charles Miles of Saluda and Curtis Hill of Columbia; two daughters, Elaine Spiller of Washington, D.C. and Rachel M. Etheredge of Saluda; one brother, Y.B. Miles of Maryland and two sisters, Amy Lee Perry and Verdell Chapman, both of Maryland.
Services are at 1 today at Branch Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie J. Keys.

ABBEVILLE Elizabeth McNeill Ware, 94, resident of 308 Magazine St. widow of W.J. Ware, Sr., died Saturday, September 29, 2001 at her residence.
born in Sharon Community, Abbeville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Pierce and Ada Penney McNeill. She was a retired clerk from Abbeville Drugs and she was also a Good Day Caller with the Abbeville County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ware was the director of Main Street United Methodist Church where she was the leader of Circle #1.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Betty Ware of Abbeville, Billy and Frances Ware of Appling, GA and Francis Buggs Ware of Abbeville, ten grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday October 2, 2001 at Main St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Clemmons officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening at Main St. United Methodist Church sanctuary from 5 til 7 PM. At other times the family will be at the home 308 Magazine St.

NINETY SIX Robert Arnold, 75, of 245 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.
born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late John Allen Arnold and Frances Vinson Smith. He was a home builder and a World War II Army veteran. He was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Lucille McGill of Greenwood and Margaret Alexander of the home.
Services will be conducted at 2 Friday at Harley Funeral Home by the Revs. Dan Compton and Frank Thomas. Burial is in Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery.

born in Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Fred D. and Thelma Davis Simpson. She was a retired employee of Crosscreek Mall and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Westside Community Club No. 3.
Survivors include two sons, Larry D. Simpson of the home and Jamison Simpson of Bowie, Md.; a brother, Marion D. Simpson of Greenville; a sister, Annette Boyd of Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church by Dr. W.S. Harrison. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial is in Springfield Baptist Church cemetery, Edgefield County.

GREENWOOD Grady Thomas Landreth, 76, of 2009 Airport Road, husband of Pauline H. Landreth, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Cannon, Ga., he was a son of the late Henry Lawrence and Ila Hall Landreth. He retired from Wilson Brothers Sand Co. and worked part-time with Greenwood County Recycling Center. An Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he served as a sergeant in the 6th Armed Division and received a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Emerald Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and a member of the Adult Mens Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Charlotte L. Alexander of Greenwood; a son, Ronnie R. Landreth of Greenwood; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emerald Baptist Church by the Revs. Curtis Eidson and J.B. Abercrombie. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

GREENWOOD - Jones Ralph Hester, 80, resident of 224 Woodlawn Street, widower of Grace Lindsey Hester, died October 3, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Greenville County, February 11, 1921, he was a son of the late Jesse Martin and Annie Mae Cantrell Hester. He was a graduate of Taylors High School, North Greenville Junior College and attended Furman University. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II having served in Japan.
Mr. Hester was retired from Riegel Tex-tiles in Ware Shoals and was more recently employed by Bi-Lo. He was a member of Emerald Baptist Church and the Pop Strom Sunday School Class of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Osbel (Gail) Poore of Boaze, AL; two sons, Ronnie and wife, Ann Hester of Greenwood and Marshall and wife, Kristy Mclister of Hodges; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Essie Bolen of Greenwood.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Friday at Emerald Baptist Church with Rev. Herman Bradley, Rev. Scott McAlister, Rev. Curt Edison and Rev. S.P. Hester officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
