GREENWOOD — Grace Stewart Ambrose Cantrell, 83, of 605 Colonial Drive, wife of Loyde E. Cantrell, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the National Health Care Center.
born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late William Pleasant and Malissa Porter Stewart. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she created the first Kindergarten Sunday School Class, served on the Visitation Committee and served as president of The Women of the Church. She was twice married
, first to the late Major L.R. Ambrose.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Luther R. “Rutty” Ambrose of Fort Mill and William S. “Bill” Ambrose of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Joyce Ambrose of Tega Cay; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Frassrandand Mrs. Max (Sue) Tromblee, both of Marietta, Ga., and Mrs. Doug (Mary) Scott of Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Viola Dobbs of Willsboro, Pa., Adalene Brady of Oxford, Ala., and Gladys McNair of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Lloyd Stewart of Hawthorne, Calif., and Clyde Stewart of Brownsville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

HONEA PATH — Mary L. “Bitsey” Palmore Clinkscales, 61, of 107-B Shamrock Apartments, widow of William Henry Clinkscales, died Saturday, Oct. 6, at her home.
born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Early Cook and Carrison Terry Palmore. She attended Gantt Rosenwall High School and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Honea Path.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Oliver of Greenville and Alberta Palmore of Honea Path; three grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Palmore of Honea Path and Azzie Lee Palmore of Philadelphia; and four brothers, Willie J. Palmore, John Henry Palmore and Walter Palmore, all of Honea Path and Curtis Palmore of Philadelphia.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Liberty Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

GREENWOOD — Cornell Duckett, 81, of 117 Cole Street, widower of Carolyn Butler Duckett, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Nathaniel and Daisy Lee Pyles Duckett. He was a member of Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the Steward and Trustee boards and chaplain of the Lay Organization. He was also a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge 37 and American Legion Post 224, a World War II veteran and a retiree of Greenwood Mills.
Survivors include two sisters, Pearlie Ruth Duckett Scott and Lillie Mae Duckett Bennett, both of Stratford, Conn.; and a brother, Lilliewood Duckett of Baltimore.
Services will be conducted at 2 Friday at Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Jackie R. Whitted officiating and the Rev. James R. Glover presiding. Assisting are the Revs. L. Ruth Whitted and Fred Armfield. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.

GREENWOOD — Cynthia West “Cindy” Hamilton, 47, of 205 Curl Creek Road, wife of Clifton Douglas “Doug” Hamilton, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.
born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of William C. “Bill” West and the late Betty Callahan West. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1972 and was employed with Self Memorial Hospital as a pharmacy technician supervisor. A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, she was also a member and captain of the Hunter’s Creek 3.5 Tennis Team.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her father of Greenwood; two sons, Paul Douglas Hamilton and James Blake Hamilton, both of the home; a sister, Margaret “Meg” Lewis of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, William “Billy” West of Greenwood.
Services will be conducted at 3 Friday at Blyth Funeral Home by the Revs. Ken Timmerman and John White. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

GREENWOOD - James Paul "Jim" Farnham, 52, resident of 718 Highland Park Drive, died October 8, 2001 while enjoying his favorite pastime, hunting in Abbeville County.
born in Champaign, IL, July 27, 1949, he was a son of the late Paul James and Beulah Parker Farnham. He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, VA and Piedmont Tech-nical College. He served in the US Navy and the US Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Good Conduct Award Ribbon. He was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier.
He was twice married
, first to the late Linda Diane Proctor Farnham.
He was a member of Woodfields Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George (Jennifer) Stroud of Greenwood; a sister, Sandra Farnham of Manassas, VA; one granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Stroud.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Miller officiating.
Burial will be in.Oakbrook Memorial Park.

born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Frank Hahn and Ruth Donnald McKinney. He retired from Burlington Industries and was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
