GREENWOOD Claudia Anne Suttle Cox, 63, of 404 Orchard Drive, wife of Don Cox, died Sept. 24, 2001, at her home.
born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Claude Baxter and Lillie Mae Clarke Suttle. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Greenwood Cancer Support Group.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Erneston of Asheville, N.C.; a son, Rodger Thomas of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Jerry Suttle; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by First Counselor, Ralph Yingling. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Marion Patterson, Richard Anderson, Robert Hall, Timothy Cox, Matthew Cox and Jerry Suttle.

NORTH AUGUSTA William Ernest Gilchrist, 88, formerly of Greenwood, died Sept. 24, 2001, at University Hospital in Augusta.
born in Edgefield County, he was a World War II Army veteran and a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant. He was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, Greenwood, and the Friendship Club at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Lena Mae Newman of Belvedere; a brother, David T. Gilchrist of Greenwood; two sisters, Lena Duhaime of Oakdale, Conn., and Thelma Boozer of Greenwood; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 3 Thursday at Rowland Funeral Home by the Rev. Leland S. Scott. Burial is in Pineview Memorial Gardens.

ABBEVILLE - Charles Harold Ellis, 81, of 582 Hwy. 201, husband of Irene Mayson Ellis, died Monday, September 10, 2001 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Alvin and Blanche Cunningham Ellis. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church and was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 178th Field Artillery. He was retired from the Harris Plant and was a former deacon of Upper Long Cane and New Hope Presbyterian Churches.
Surviving are his wife of the home, one son: Glenn M. Ellis of Greenwood, one daughter; Jane E. Block and her husband, Rodney of Lakeworth, Florida, one grandson; Ryan Block of Lakeworth, Florida. Funeral services were at 3 P.M. Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at New Hope Presbyterian Church with Rev. George Busch officiating. Burial followed in Long Cane cemetery. Active pallbearers were: John Jones, Tony McNeil, Owen Uldrick, Frankie Stone, Wayne Sears and Sammy Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Members of the 178th Field Artillery.
The body was at Harris Funeral Home where the family received friends from 1:30 - 2:30 P.M.

HIRAM, Ga. Bobby Higginbotham, 66, formerly of Greenwood, S.C., husband of Laura Larsen Higginbotham, died Sept. 12, 2001, at Well Star Cobb Hospital in Austell, Ga.
born in Iva, he was a son of the late Alvin Columbus and Fannie Mae Crocker Higginbotham. He graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Lander College and Georgia State University. He retired from Dobbins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David Higginbotham of Athens, Ga., and Scott Higginbotham of Fayetteville, Ga.; two sisters, Bernice Higginbotham West of Greenwood and Beatrice Higginbotham Entrekin of Easley; a brother, James Higginbotham of Marietta, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Friday at Eberhart Funeral Home, Dallas, Ga., with burial in Poplar Springs cemetery in Hiram.

McCORMICK John Wesley Norman, 66, formerly of 206 Mims Drive, widower of Ida M. Norman, died Sept. 12, 2001 at Abbeville Nursing Center.
born in McCormick, he was a son of the Sadie Bell Morris Norman and the late Isaac Norman. He was a retired cook and a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of McCormick; five sons, James Norman, Wendell Norman, Lonnie Norman, Gregory Norman and Carlos Norman, all of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Joe Lee Norman of McCormick; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of his mother, 208 Mims Drive.
