Fannie Mae Harrison
GREENWOOD — Fannie Mae “Granny” Harrison, 92, widow of George Gordon Harrison Sr., died Aug. 21, 2001, at her home.
born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late William Robert and Josephine Ferquron Reynolds. She was a member of Living Waters Tabernacle.
Survivors include two sons, Charles William Harrison of the home and Robert G. Harrison of Lake Greenwood; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrison Lakeside cemetery, Old Laurens Road, by the Rev. R.E. Harrison. Grandsons are pallbearers.
Visitation is from 7-9 Wednesday at Parker-White Funeral Home. The family is at 4818 Old Laurens Road.

‘Bunk’ Monroe
GREENWOOD — John Francis “Bunk” Monroe, 90, of 238 Grace Terrace, husband of Verena Peterson Monroe, died Aug. 20, 2001, at his home.
born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late John Francis Sr. and Minnie Kay Latimer Monroe. He was a Greenwood High School graduate and a retired employee of H.D. Payne Oil Co., serving for 60 years. He was a former volunteer with the Greenwood City Fire Department for more than 45 years and a member and former usher of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Julia) Gordon and Mrs. Horace (Caroline) Whitmire Jr., both of Greenwood; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home by Dr. J. William Harris. Private family burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Tripp Whitmire, John Whitmire, Mike Cate, Douglas Benjamin and Dane Gordon.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

EDENTON, N.C. — Elizabeth Moody Owen, 81, of the 1300 block of Paradise Road, widow of Robert L. Owen, died Aug. 19, 2001, at Chowan Hospital.
born in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Theodore L. and Sara Ennalls Willoughby Moody. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Prophet’s of Rawanda, Morehead City.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Strohl of Edenton; a son, Robert E. Owen of Greenwood, S.C.; a sister, Carolyn Burbage of Baltimore; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sept. 15, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Prophet’s of Rawanda, by the Rev. John Grayson. Inurnment is in the church niche.

born in Plum Branch, Old Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Willie and Mary Long White. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retiree of Rocky River Mill.

GREENWOOD — John Henry Winkler, 78, of 307 Jackson St., widower of Vivian Shirley Winkler, died Aug. 19, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Maggie Lackey Winkler. He was a high school graduate, a World War II Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Plant No. 5, and was more recently employed by Gary Russ Chevrolet. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Johnny C. Winkler of Gaffney; two sisters, Mary Medlin of Greenwood and Ann Johnson of Abbeville; and two granddaughters.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home by the Rev. E.A. Cooper. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

GREENWOOD — John Henry “Coon” Devlin Sr., 72, of New Market Street, husband of Gladys Cantlow Devlin, died Aug. 19, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maggie Moore Devlin. He retired as a sanitation engineer in Newark, N.J., and was a member of Milway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Bradley; six sons, John Henry Devlin Jr. of Bradley, Damon Robert Devlin, James Albert Devlin, Clarence William Devlin, and Fuquan Devlin, all of Greenwood and Joe Lewis Devlin of Irvington, N.J.; a sister, Ellen Wade of Chicago; 41 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Buddy Dorn
BRADLEY — Floyd Edward “Buddy” Dorn, 69, of 408 Rushville Road, husband of Mimmie Chaffin Dorn, died Aug. 17, 2001, at his home.
born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Eddie E. and Annie Deal Dorn. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of E.I. Dupont in Aiken. A member of Bold Springs Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of the church, he was also a member of V.F.W. Lodge No. 5877 in Aiken.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Tina D. Sowers of Los Alamos, N.M.; three sons, Charles “Eddie” Dorn, Roger “Quail” Dorn and Phillip “Jelly” Dorn, all of Bradley; two sisters, Aileen D. Adams of Ninety Six and Josie D. Walker of Greenwood; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 3 Sunday at Bold Springs Baptist Church by the Revs. Chris Garrison and Archie Evans. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were George Deal, Bill Dorn, Jay McCarthy, Darrell Craig, Phillip Dorn, Roger Dorn, Joseph Sowers and Colby Dorn.
Honorary escorts were members of the Brotherhood of the church, along with Broadus Collins, Richard Melton, John Tom Bannister, Roger Dillashaw, Mike Chaffin, Leon “Rooster” Adams and Tim Adams.

born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Joseph Walker and Catherine Link Everett. He retired from Milliken Mills and was a member of Abbeville A.R.P. Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Earl Cowan of Greenwood and Mrs. Jack Vandiver of Athens, Ga. Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Long Cane cemetery, conducted by Dr. Randy Ruble and the Rev. Darrell New.
Visitation is at the cemetery after the service.
The family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Earl Cowan, 201 Sheffield Road, Greenwood.

WARE SHOALS — Barbara Ann McGrier, 37, of 104 Nova Court, died Aug. 19, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Robert McGrier and the late Eloise Rapley McGrier. She graduated from Ware Shoals High School and was employed as a supervisor at the Emerald Center. She was a member of Macedonia C.M.E. Church, Hodges.
Survivors include a daughter, Nicole McGrier of the home; her father of the home; and three brothers, Jimmy Rapley of Cokesbury, Warren McGrier of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Charles McGrier of Simpsonville.
