Virginia Hazel
GREENWOOD — Anna Virginia Rodgers Hazel, 86, wife of William R. Hazel, of 219 Duncan Ave., died Aug. 17, 2001.
born in Woodruff, she was a daughter of the late Will and Vivian Lanford Rodgers. She retired from the Copper Kettle and was a member of Emerald Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a great-nephew and niece with whom she lived, James and Alyson Bodie; three sisters, Margaret Teague of Woodruff, Dorothy Greene of Greenville and Frances Hilley of Greenwood; and great-great-nephews and niece of the home, Chassity, Dalton and Braxton Bodie.
Services are Sunday at 2 at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Mike Hatfield and Tom Cartledge. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Albert “Pammy” Freeman, David Watkins, Randy Tiller, Billy Worthington, Tunney Blackman and Ernie Sumner.
Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home.

Raymond West
SIMPSONVILLE — Raymond Edward West, 75, of 205 S. Pliney Circle, died Aug. 17, 2001, at Oakmont Nursing Center in Greenville.
He was a son of the late Marcus Frank and Effie Wood West. He worked with Pet Dairy and Cryovac and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-59. He also was a lifelong member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, J. Bernice West of Greenwood; two sisters, Dorothy W. Armstrong of Simpsonville and Goldie S. Davis of Greenwood and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Sunday at 3 at Simpsonville First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Randy Harling. Burial is in the Simpsonville City Cemetary.
Visitation is from 2-3 at the church prior to the service.

McCORMICK — Services for Woodrow Wilson Price, who died at Nothern Community Hospital, Arlington, Va., August 10, will be Saturday at 2 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Plum Branch.

Arvis E. Robertson
ANDERSON — Arvis Edgar Robertson, 77, of 310 Concord Ave., died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 at his home.
He was the son of the late Hollie L. and Wilma Walton Robertson. born in Ninety Six, he was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He later retired from Gerrish-Milliken Mill and was a member of North Anderson Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice McClellan Robertson, of the home; three sons, William A. Robertson of Columbia; Jerry L.
Robertson of Greenwood, and H. Dale Robertson of Anderson; two daughters, Diane R. Wells of Columbia and Renee R. Armstrong of Anderson; two brothers, Franklin E. Robertson and James E. Robertson of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at North Anderson Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Rigsby and Travis Bowers officiating. Burial is in New Prospect Baptist Church cemetery.
The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, downtown chapel, 401 North Main Street.
Visitation is from 7-9 Friday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 Saturday. The family is at the home.

Geraldine Thrailkill
WAUCHULA, Fla. — Geraldine Kent Thrailkill, 96, resident of 604 East Main St., widow of John William “J.W.” Thrailkill, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at her home.
born in Atlanta, April 1, 1905, she was a daughter of the late C.T. and Blanche Kent. She formerly served as co-owner of Hardee Motor Chevrolet in Wauchula, along with her husband.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula and in her active years.
She was active in civic organizations, being a member of the Woman’s Club, Garden Club and the Florida Federated Music Club. Her hobby was writing poetry.
Mrs. Thrailkill was the last member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be at 4 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Fred Thrailkill Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Thrailkill, Fred Pitts, LaVern Thrailkill, Patrick Berry, Mick Ahern and Steve Welch.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Thrailkill, 230 Woodrow Ave., Greenwood.

Woodrow W. Price
McCORMICK — Woodrow Wilson Price, widower of Fannie Mae Price, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Northern Community Hospital in Arlington. Va., after a long illness.
born in McCormick on July 12, 1918, he was a son of the late Willie Anderson Price and Mary Ella Brunson Price.
He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Plum Branch.
He served on the Deacon Board, the Senior Choir and the Troy Community Choir. He was also a member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 96.
Survivors include daughters, Vienna Stewart of Woodbridge, Va., Shirley Walters of Upper Marlboro, Md., Stephanie Callahan of Greenwood; two sisters, Carrie L. Bolton and Gertrude Dollie Harrison of Washington, D.C.; brothers, Walter Price and Albert Price, both of Washington, D.C.; and 10 grandchildren.

Geraldine Thrailkill
WAUCHULA, Fla. — Geraldine Kent Thrailkill, 96, resident of 604 E. Main Street, widow of John William “J.W.” Thrailkill, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at her home.

Samuel Walker
GREENWOOD - Samuel Walker, 51, who worked as an Operation Manager, Food Service Director, and General Manager in the food service industry for 27 years died on Saturday, August 11, 2001 in Bel Air, Maryland. While in town to attend his eldest son's wedding, Mr. Walker, three of his sons and his grandson were playing golf the morning of when Mr. Walker collapsed and died of a heart attack.
born in Greenwood, South Carolina on September 23, 1949, to Mr. Samuel Walker Sr. and Willie Mae Walker. Mr. Walker was a 1967 graduate of Brewer High School and a 1971 graduate of South Carolina State University. Additionally, he attended Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration and Bloomfield College for many courses in Business Management, Marketing and Personnel Management.
Mr. Walker's extensive career has allowed him to live in several states including South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio. Mr. Walker had an esteemed career garnering accolades such as Morrison's Manager of the Quarter, Second Quarter of 1989, Third Quarter of 1993 and Morrison's 1988-1989 Manager of the Year Education Division. He also garnered a 1994-1995 Manager of the Quarter and Manager of the Year for Gardner-Merchant Education Division. He most recently resided in Dayton, Ohio where Sodexho Marriott Services employed him as General Manager at Wright State University. As General Manager Mr. Walker was responsible for a 6.5 million-dollar account with a table organization of 12 managers and 120 employees.
Mr. Walker was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his grandchildren in the summer time.
Mr. Walker is survived by five sons, three from his first wife Willie Jean Cummings, Samuel Walker III and Stefan Walker of Baltimore, Maryland, Shunnel Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina, and two from his second wife Sandra Walker, who preceded him in death, Shawn Williams of Saginaw, Michigan and Scott Walker of Midland, Michigan; one daughter Stacy Williams; five daughters-in-law, Wanda, Pat, Dawn, Cass-andra and Alyssa Walker; five grandchildren Michael, Portia, Courtney, Samantha and Gabriel; two nieces Zia and Brandy; and a very special friend Sherry Babcock.
Funeral services will be held at Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Greenwood, S.C. on Saturday, August 18, 2001 at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Evening Star Memorial Gardens, also in Greenwood.
Robinson and Sons Mortuary, 534 Maxwell Avenue, Greenwood, SC will be responsible for the service.
The family can be greeted at 1207 Central Ave. in Greenwood, S.C. Friday evening, and also 429 Random Road in Baltimore, MD.
There also will be a Memorial service held at Faith Ministries Baptist Church in Midland, MI on Tuesday, August 21, 2001.
There also will be a viewing of the body in Baltimore, MD on Thursday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. at Tri-State Funeral Home, 108 W. North Ave., Baltimore, Maryland.
