GREENWOOD — Allen Terrance “Al” Morris, 50, of 951 Sunset Drive, husband of Martelle Taylor Morris, died Aug. 3, 2001, at his home.
born in South Charleston, W.Va., he was a son of Edna Cox Morris and the late Wetzel Walter Morris. He graduated from South Charleston High School and attended West Virginia University and Anderson University in Anderson, Ind. He was owner and operator of Carolina Micro Systems. Formerly of Morgantown, W.Va., he had lived in Greenwood since 1991.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of South Charleston, W.Va.; a son, Ian Matthew Morris of Greenwood; three daughters, Becca Elise Morris, Brielle Martelle Morris and Matea Estelle Morris, all of the home; a sister, Pam M. Hamilton of South Charleston; and a granddaughter.
There will be a private family memorial service.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 7-8 tonight.

HODGES - Earl Tex Shirley, 77, resident of 4711 Main Street, husband of Dorothy (Dot) Godfrey Shirley, died August 3, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Greenwood County, June 28, 1924, he was a son of the late George Daniel and Emma Hodges Shirley. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II and retired from Marvin Mathis Plumbing Company after 38 years service.
A member of New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was also a member of the Senior Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Jeannie S. Crouch of Edgefield and Elaine S. Hudson of Greenwood; four sons, Rondy E. Shirley of Donalds, Dorton E. Shirley and Jerry D. "Rip" Shirley, both of Hodges and Terry "Bird" Shirley of Greenwood; two brothers, Marshall Shirley of Abbeville and Elbert Shirley of Hodges; a sister, Lois Langley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Tommy Shirley, Lisa Shirley Reese, P.J. Shirley, Sandy Brusca, Missy Tripp, Shane Puckett, Jennifer Lindley, Michael Steinhauer, Hope Campbell and Matt Shirley; eleven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shirley was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Shirley.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Sunday at New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. Phillip Morris and Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Shirley, Raymond Shirley, Claude Shirley, Jason Shirley, Colie Shirley, Robert Godfrey, Jr., Roger Knight, and Jim Timms.
Honorary escort will be Men of the Senior Sunday School Class along with Marvin Mathis, Mark Harrison, Jerry Mitchell, Dr. Robert Todd, Frank Smith, Tom Shirley and Adger Shirley.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the Church at 1PM Sunday.

Mr. Smith died Thursday, August 2, 2001, in an accident. born in Saluda, SC, on.January 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. B.W. Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of St..Paul United Methodist Church where he was a member of Charles A. Graves Sunday School Class and the Super-intendent of the Sunday School. He was retired from Sprint and was a member of the Saluda Fire Department and was the 2000 Fireman of the Year.
Surviving are his wife, Annie "Ann" M. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Kennifer S. and Tom Cox; son and daughter-in-law, Ben W. and Michelle W. Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Toni C. and Fairy B. Smith; nieces, Allyson S. Martin, Natalie S. Hite, Paula Copeland, Jessica Wilson and Gia Seaberg; nephews, Bill McAlister and Alex Wilson; an aunt, Gwendolyn Boswell; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Ben G. McAlister; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin L. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Amanda Webb and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Tim Holt of Saluda; two daughters, Robin Lenora and Lena Vinessa Coleman, both of Saluda; six sisters, Charlie M. born in Roanoke, Va., he was a son of the late Pryce and Carrie Leigh Edwards Cuff. He was a member of Joppa Lodge No. 72, a retired postal worker and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Augusta, Ga.; a son, Elliott Cuff of West Haverstraw, N.Y.; a brother, Howard Cuff of Mount Airy, Pa.; a sister, Eola Wills of Detroit; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

born in England, she was a daughter of Grace Young Rylee and the late Thomas Rylee and was a bookkeeper for Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Greenwood.
Surviving is her husband of the home; her mother of Fitzgerald, GA; a son, Sam Griffin and his wife, Crystal of Bradley, SC; two daughters, Penny Humbertson and her husband, Mike, and Peggy Turner, all of Greenwood; a sister, Pam Bateman of Franklin, TN; three brothers, Rick Rylee of Korea, Terry Rylee of Atlanta, GA and David Rylee of Fitzgerald, GA; four grandchildren, Bradley Griffin of Bradley, Casey Turner, Cody White, and Chris White, all of Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Owens officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

LEXINGTON — Lillian Y. Moore, 58, of 1205 Two Notch Road, wife of John T. Moore, died Aug. 1, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
born in McCormick, she was a daughter of Rose Franklin and the late Moses Franklin. She worked at Moore’s Cleaning Service.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother; three daughters, Nancy C. Barron of Marietta, Ga., Sheilia Moore and Karen A. Moore, both of Lexington; a son, John T. Moore Jr. of Lexington; two sisters, Juanita Jenkins and Ruebenia Chamberlain; and five brothers, Edward Franklin, Roosevelt Franklin, Joe Franklin, Louis Franklin and Albert Franklin.
Services will be conducted at 2 Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Butler.

Clara Hazel Amaker Moyer
SALUDA - Services for Clara Hazel Amaker Moyer, 86, of Saluda and Columbia, will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel in Saluda, SC. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Stone with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum in Columbia at approximately 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM before the service at Ramey Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rhett Moyer, Hal Moyer, Mike Moyer, Curtis Hensley, Bill Hensley, and Curt Hensley Jr., Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Mason Hensley and Drew Moyer, and granddaughter Laura Moyer. Mrs. Moyer died at the SCNC on August 1, 2001. born in Saluda County, September 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John B. (Bunk) and Clara Hazel Amaker. She was a devoted wife and mother, enjoying her children and grandchildren. During her life she was a former member of the Saluda Garden Club, president of the Rutledge Book Club in Lake City, SC, and a member of the Pilot International Club of Columbia. She was a member of North Trenholm Road Baptist Church in Columbia. Mrs. Moyer was an exceptional florist, and worked at Shandon Greenhouses in Columbia before moving to Saluda to open her own business, the Saluda Flower Shop in 1947. In 1964, she served as House Director at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. Due to her continued support of her daughters career, Mrs. Moyer was honored as an honorary member of the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists in 1986.
Surviving are daughter, Betty J. Moyer, Columbia; and son and daughter-in-law, Russell Everett and Ethelyn Jones Moyer, Gilbert; sister, Onelia Amaker Cooper, Columbia; and brother and sister-in-law, J. B. and Nancy Amaker, Charleston. Grand-daughter and grandson-in-law, Vicky and Curtis Hensley, Greenwood; Grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Rhett and Sandy Moyer, Gilbert; Hal Moyer and Diane Miller, Saluda; and Mike and Dana Moyer, Gilbert. Great-grandsons and spouses, Bill and Louisa Hensley, Rhode Island and Spain; Curt and Tonya Hensley, Greenwood; Mason Hensley, Greenwood; Drew Moyer, Gilbert. Great-granddaughter and mother, Laura Moyer and Tricia Moyer, Gilbert. Great-great-grandchildren, Guillermo Hensley and Alba Maria Hensley, Spain; and Tripp Hensley, Greenwood. She was pre-deceased by husband Russell E. Moyer Sr.; and sister, Sybil A. Ward.

born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late John Patrick and Agnes Elizabeth Cooley Madden. She was a homemaker and member of Abbeville Pente-costal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband of the home; four children, Johnny Powell of Lexington, Wayne Powell and Diane Powell, both of Taylors and Elizabeth Spires and son-in-law Otis of Chapin; two grandchildren, RŽna Spires McDonald of Holly Hill and Michael Wayne Spires of Columbia; one great-granddaughter, Payton Elizabeth Spires; one brother, Joe Robert Madden of Ware Shoals and one sister, Claude Alewine of Tyler, Texas.

UNION — Willie Simpson Sanders Jr., 81, of 115 Pleasant View Drive, husband of Opal Mitchell Sanders, died Aug. 2, 2001, at the home of a daughter in Spartanburg.
born in Union, he was a son of the late Willie Simpson Sanders Sr. and Ellen Palmer Sanders. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Men’s Club, Bethel United Methodist Seniors, “BUMS, ” Union County Senior Citizens and the Hardee Bunch. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from Saco-Lowell Co., Easley, after 25 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Willa S.) LeBron of Spartanburg and Mrs. Donnie (Alice S.) Hooper of Union; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Sanders Ivey of Taylors.
Services will be conducted at 3 Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church by the Revs. Don Alexander, Angelia Price and Wesley Farr. Burial is in Union Memorial Gardens.
