Grady King
GREENWOOD – Grady Dupree King, 81, resident of 1615 E. Laurel Avenue, husband of Gladys McElroy King, died December 1, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
born in Clark County, GA, September 20, 1923, he was a son of the late William Hoyt and Georgia Brewer King. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II where he received a Purple Heart and he was retired from Coleman Oil Company.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Pat K. Noff of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, Kelli Brooker, Linsay Crews, Robert and Stephen James; a great-granddaughter, Kara Miller.
He was predeceased by a son, Rev. Doyle King.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Payton officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robert James, Stephen James, Chad Crews, Scott Brooker, E. B. McElroy, Bobby Lawson and Ronnie Royston.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 Thursday morning.
Memorials may be made to Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, PO Box 1267, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Alvin Putnam
GREENWOOD – James Alvin “Put” Putnam, 90, of 106 Young Street, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Richard M. Campbell VA Nursing Home in Anderson.
born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Jess and Bessie Sligh Putnam. He was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a US Navy veteran, serving during World War II as a Seaman First Class. He was a member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Cobb and Ginger Brewer.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Linda) Collier of Greenwood and Mrs. David (Wanda) Vaughn of Waterloo; a son, Charles Putnam of Greenwood; a sister, Dot Boyd of Greenwood; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Mary Putnam of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and seven great- great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum with the Rev. Wesley Dixon officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the mausoleum.
The family members are at their respective Homes, Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles B. Cullens
HODGES — Charles Benjamin Cullens, 64, of 415 Daniel Road, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Charles Davis and Edna White Cullens. He was an Army veteran and retired from Pirelli Cable Co. after 38 years of service. A member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, he was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 481.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Brooks (Pam) Randall of Greenwood and Mrs. Carroll (Phyllis) Sheldon of Simpsonville; a sister, Bertha Mae Nelson of Greenwood; a brother, Jerry Arnold of Hodges; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Ricky Knight.
Visitation is 1-2:30 today at Blyth Funeral Home.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Larry D. Goode
Services for Larry D. Goode are 1 p.m. Saturday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth community, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Caldwell. Assisting are the Rev. Clyde D. Cannon, pastor, and the Revs. Jerry Brown and Bernard White. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Larry Carroll, Nathaniel Hearst, Roy Wright, Lee Wright, Roy Freeman and Andy Greene.
Flower bearers are Linda Adams, Carrie Davis, Linda Higgins, Yolanda Satterwhite, Mariah Carter, Sharon Carter, Jackie Paul and cousins.
The family is at the home, 105 Singletree Road.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Rosa Lee White
Rosa Lee Lagroom White, 97, of 205-A Brook Stuart Drive, widow of Charlie White, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Liza Mae Bowie Lagroom. She was a domestic worker and a member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Leroy White, Huey White, James White, Sherman J. White and Roosevelt White, all of Greenwood and Henry J. White of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Moses (Jessie Lee) Hackett, Josie M. Brown and Janie White, all of Greenwood; a brother, Melvin Lagroom of Callison; a sister, Mary Coats of Greenwood; a grandson reared in the home, Andrew “Buddy” White of Hodges; 49 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home in Coleman Terrace.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

William Robert Butler
William Robert Butler, 27, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.
born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Geneva Watson Butler and the late Samuel Olonzo Butler.
He was a cook.
Survivors include his mother of the home; a son, William R. Butler Jr. of Greenwood; three brothers, Samuel Butler Jr. of McCormick, Calvin Reese and Derrick Spearman, both of Greenwood and Willie Elmore of Cokesbury; six sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Catherine) Johnson, Mrs. Tony (Sandra B.) Thompson, Michelle Butler, Laura Smith and Tonya Spearman, all of Greenwood and Bettye Fields of Fayetteville, N.C.; a friend of the home, Shuwanda Smith.
The family is at the home of his mother, Geneva Butler, 1307 E. Cambridge Ave.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Darrell Caldwell
ABBEVILLE — Darrell Simpson Caldwell, 83, of 116 Henry St., widow of Joe A. Caldwell, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at the Hospice House in Anderson.
Services will be announced by Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

Eddie Gordon
DUE WEST — Services for Eddie Gordon are 1 p.m. today at St. Mary’s A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Eichelberger, assisted by the Rev. James Donald. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 12-1 today at the church.
The family is at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. James Donald, 26 Johnson St.

Credia Herman
APPLING, Ga. — Credia Mae Flynn Herman, 79, widow of Loran Jacob Herman, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at Lake Crossing Health Center in Appling.
born in Eubanks, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Jim Chris and Vada Casada Flynn. She retired from commercial cleaning at Talbott Towers in Dayton, Ohio and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Hubbard of Lincolnton and Shelley Riddle of Greenwood, S.C.; three sons, Gary L. Herman of Dayton, William L. Herman of Chillicothe, Ohio and Bobby Herman of West Virginia; five sisters, “Skippy” Collins and Juanita Pickett, both of Kettering, Ohio, Zalene Large and Loraine Hale, both of Somerset, Ky., and Lucille Royster of Dayton; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Robert G. Bowling Jr. Entombment is in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Eddie Mauldin, Charles Simpson, Chris Hubbard, Matthew Simpson, Paul Barber and Joel Sexton.
Visitation is 6-8 Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Stan and Shelley Riddle, 220 Bluff Road, Greenwood.

Lamar Knox
SPARTANBURG, SC – Lamar Knox, 90, of 206 Wildwood Street, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at his home. born January 13, 1914, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late William Arthur and Amie Smith Knox. A 1932 graduate of Pacolet High School and a 1935 graduate of Cecil’s Business College, he was the owner and operator of Wayside Gardens Florist since 1945 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and as Secretary of the Adult 3 Sunday School Department.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Burgess Knox; a son, David Lamar Knox and his wife Mildred of Spartanburg; a daughter, Nancy Anne Knox of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Knox of Greenwood, SC, Kelly Knox Roper and her husband Matt of Spartanburg, and Jeremy Knox of Spartanburg; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Smith of Spartanburg; and a brother, J. D. Knox of Lyman. He was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Bledsoe; and a brother, William W. Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2004, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. David M. Blanton and the Rev. Dr. Herbert C. Garrett, Jr. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home.

Lawrence Lewis
TRENTON, N.J. — Lawrence Lewis, 68, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004 in Trenton.
born in Ninety Six, S.C., he was a son of the late Robert Lewis Sr. and Hannah Kemp Lewis. He attended Ninety Six schools and was employed as a butcher in Philadelphia. He was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Ninety Six.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Lewis Whitner and Beverly Lewis Butler, both of Ninety Six and Crystal Lewis of Philadelphia; two sons, Gregory and Anthony Fuller of Roxboro, N.C.; and two brothers, Robert Lewis Jr. and David Lewis, both of Ninety Six.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Janie Gist, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Caldwell. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are granddaughters and friends of the family.
The family is at the home of Brenda Whitner, 400 Edgewood Circle, Apt. 424, Ninety Six.
Daniel and Sons Funeral Home, Ninety Six, is in charge.

James Mack Jr.
GREENVILLE — James Mack Jr., of 29 Dorsey Blvd., died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at his home.
born in Iva, he was a son of the late James Mack Sr. and Minnie L. Roundtree Mack. He was a landscaper.
Survivors include a son, Elliott Mack of Inman; four sisters, Barbara Ann Belcher and Pearlie Mae Mitchell of Greenville, Minnie Lee Williams of Washington, D.C., and Annie Ruth Lewis of Calhoun Falls.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Long Branch Baptist Church. Burial is in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 1-2 Friday at the church.
The family is at the home.
Watkins-Garrett-Woods Mortuary is in charge.
