Preston Graham Turner, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at a local nursing center.
Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Graham Turner and Annie Marie Bartlette Turner. He was a member of New Star Community Church of the Nazarene and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Jean Parker; four brothers, Larry Turner, Rufus Turner and James Turner, all of Sumter, and Fate Turner of Simpsonville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Stubbs Turner; and two sisters, Margaret Christine Turner and Katie Lee Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Dale Turner and Billy Williams officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Church of the Nazarene Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of Danny McLeod, 4550 Pond Loop Road.

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late William Canty and Katie Thomas Canty. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C., and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Bishopville.
Survivors include a son, Edward Bynum and his wife, Henri Etta, of Columbia; a brother, Wilton Canty of Bishopville; a sister, Vernice Dawsey of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Born in Dillon County, she was a daughter of the late McKiver and Blanch Ratley Herring. She was a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty B. Watkins of Sumter and Linda Nesmith of Kingstree; a brother, Reddy Herring of Sumter; a sister, Edieth Jolly of Sumter; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Morris.

CADES — Luther Fulmore, 92, widower of Rosa Peterson Fulmore, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at his home. Born July 10, 1910, in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Laura Fulmore Robinson. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include four daughters, Vela Gore, Dorothy Dewitt and her husband, Smith, Betty Bellamy and her husband, Donald, all of Trenton, N.J., and Pearlie Page of the home; four grandchildren he reared as his own, Leo Fulmore, Sharon Fulmore, Tabitha Fulmore and Jeremiah Francois; 22 additional grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Fulmore.

LOS ANGELES — Ometa Mack Heriot, 92, widow of Michael T. Heriot Sr., died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
Born April 25, 1910, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Rev. John Allen Mack and Amanda Ross Mack. She attended Sumter public schools and was a graduate of Morris College. She taught school in Sumter School District 2 for a number of years until her retirement on July 1, 1975, from R.E. Davis School.
Survivors include two sons, Jessie C. Heriot of Newark, N.J., and Michael T. Heriot Jr. of Compton, Calif.; a daughter, Mary A. Heriot-Landers of Lithonia, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

COLUMBIA — Curtis Lee Lewis, 38, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at his home.
Born March 23, 1964, in New York City, he was a son of Edward Lewis and Linda Louard Lewis. In his youth, he accepted Christ into his life and spent his time reading God’s word. He attended New York public schools and was a 1982 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He attended the Vocational Training School, where he learned how to repair wheelchairs and assist wheelchair patients. For the last five years, he was employed with Robinson Diversified Services as a tile setter.
Survivors besides his parents include a sister, April Lewis of New York; a grandmother, Serena Louard of Sumter; an uncle, Anthony Louard of Sumter; an aunt, Saundra Louard of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two special cousins, Onaje and Khamisi Louard of Brooklyn; a special aunt, Patricia Hunt of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and a number of cousins.

Born Dec. 12, 1940, in Marion, he was a son of the late Flora Mae Parker and Elbert Murry Tarte. He was a 1959 graduate of Aynor High School and was inducted in 1996 in the Aynor High School Hall of Fame. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a former Sunday school teacher. He was a lifelong member of the Optimist Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda T. Money of Greenville and Christy Tarte of Mt.
