ABERDEEN, MD. — Ethel Neal Howck King, 97, widow of John H. King, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Lorien at Riverside in Belcamp, Md.
Born May 17, 1904, in Sugar Grove, Va., she was a daughter of the late Peter E. Howck and Sarah A. Howck. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel B. King of Aberdeen, Md., and Ray M. King of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Helen Joines of Port Deposit, Md., and Betty Vippermen of Dalzell; a sister, Leena Pickett of Daleville, Va.; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Robert King, Richard King and John King Jr.; and a daughter, Sarah Vipperman.
Wake services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Md.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at Bel Air Memorial Gardens in Bel Air, Md., with the Rev. Dennis R. Keen officiating.

TIMMONSVILLE — Jack W. Floyd, 68, husband of Faye Lee Thigpen Floyd, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Born in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Soloman Watson Floyd and Jane Floyd Reed Sauls. He was a fish-and-seafood distributor and a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Cynthia Ann Corley and Brenda Lee (Jimbo) Powers, both of Timmonsville; five sons, Rickie Floyd, Roger Allen (Renea) Floyd, Rayford Floyd, Robert Watson Floyd, and Calip Allen Floyd, all of Timmonsville; two sisters, Julia Floyd Feagin of Georgetown and Millie Jane (Bobby) Driggers of Sumter; a brother Sollie (Mary) Floyd of Timmonsville; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ollie Floyd and Joseph Allen Floyd.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel Burial will be in Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

CHESTER — Charles Harvey “Chuck” Holladay Jr., 54, husband of Anne Bouknight Holladay, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
Born Sept. 8, 1947, in Sumter, he was a son of Doris Farabow Holladay and the late Charles H. Holladay Sr. He was a graduate of Edmonds High School and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. He worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a district engineering administrator until his retirement in October. He was the president of the Bennettsville Jaycees, on the Bennettsville Library Board of Directors, and president of Chester Little Theatre. He was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church.
Survivors other than his wife and mother include a son, James S. “Jim” Holladay of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Erin M. Holladay of Florence; a first cousin, Bill Catherine of Galletin, Tenn.; and an aunt, Caroline Holladay of Florence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Purity Presbyterian Church in Chester.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Marc Mason officiating.

Anthony “Tony” Cabbagestalk, 47, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 6, 1954, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Ed and Inether Gardner Cabbagestalk and an adopted son of the late Maggie B. Levy. He attended Sumter District 17 public schools and received a degree in elementary education from Morris College. In his youth, he was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church and later joined Allen Chapel AME Church, where he was a member of the Inspirational, Every Ready and male choirs, the usher board, the Sons of Allen, YPD director and a trustee. He taught in the public schools of District 2 and District 17 and was later employed by Sumter County at the Greenhouse Runaway Shelter as a residential staff supervisor.
Survivors include a sister, Linder Ann Cabbagestalk of Sumter; two adopted sisters, Cynthia Myers of Sumter and Connie Jackson of Columbia; 11 adopted brothers, Patrick Levy, Lynwood Levy, David Levy, Wade and Daniel Brunson, all of Sumter, John Levy, Harold Levy, James Levy and Richard Levy, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joseph Levy of Laureton, N.Y., and Issac Levy of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Chapel AME Church in Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Romeo Leonard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Baptist Church cemetery.

Leonard Clastus DuBose, 77, husband of Helen Herndon DuBose, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Anglo P. DuBose and Cynthia Hodge DuBose. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, the American Legion Post No. 15, and the VFW. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired self-employed truck driver.
Survivors besides his wife include three sons, David Leonard DuBose and his wife, Cindy, Daryl Bruce DuBose and his wife, Marie, and Randal Herndon DuBose and his wife, Sarah, all of Sumter; two daughters, Karen DuBose Geddings and her husband, Wayne, of Sumter and Melanie Carroll Moss and her husband, Roy, of Columbia; two sisters, Milford D. York of Sumter and Lester D. Jones of Jupiter, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Greene and the Rev. Jerry Hodge officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

BISHOPVILLE — Nettie M. Durant, widow of Dell Durant, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Mariner Health of Sumter East.
Born Sept. 14, 1908, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late David and Rosa Rembert. She attended Lee County public schools. She was a faithful member of New Zion AME Church, where she served as a class leader, Sunday school teacher, chairwoman of the Stewardess Board and member of the gospel choir, Missionary Unit 2 and laymen organization. She was active in the community as a member of the Garden Club and a charter member of Job.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Durant and his wife, Josephine, of Sumter and Thomas Durant and his wife, Edith, of Dalzell; a daughter, Sarah Aiken and her husband, Greenie, of Elliott; an adopted daughter, Rebecca Anderson and her husband, Rowland, of Elliott; a brother, Thomas Rembert of Elliott; a sister, Bessie Sims of New York; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Zion AME Church in Wisacky. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday.

LEXINGTON — William Marshall O’Cain Sr., 76, husband of Dorothy J. O’Cain, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001.
Born in Gastonia, N.C., he was a son of the late Edward Jenkins and Louise Tarlton O’Cain. He was a resident of Lexington since 1938 and was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge, a former member of the Columbia Country Club and the Richland Sertoma Club. He was a charter member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Gamecock Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was retired from C.C. McGregor and Co.
Survivors besides his wife of Lexington include two sons, William M. O’Cain Jr. of Leesville and Patrick M. O’Cain of Chapin; a daughter, Maureen O. Reese of Lexington; two brothers, Edward T. O’Cain of Lexington and Donald S. O’Cain of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Red Bank United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Harper officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Memorial Cemetery.

DALZELL— Rolando F. Baig, 41, husband of Virginia Malabago Baig, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Cabatuan, Philippines, he was a son of Loretta Soriano Baig Coltrin and the late Rodrigo Baig. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in the Philippines and was a farmer. He served in the Philippine army in Siasi, Zulu.
Survivors besides his wife of Cabatuan Alaminos, Philippines, and his mother include his stepfather, Gene Coltrin of Altoona, Pa.; four sons, Rolando Baig Jr., Bayani Baig, Roldan Baig and Ryan Baig, all of the Philippines; two daughters, Beverly Pascua and Rolita Baig, both of the Philippines; a brother, Rodrigo Baig Jr. of the Philippines; two sisters, Revelyn Fornbacher of Dalzell and Pertronilda Ocampo of the Philippines; grandchildren, King Richard Pascua and Anthony James Pascua; two nephews, Christopher Fornbacher and Michael Fornbacher; and a niece, Fevelyn Baig Wilson.
