Donna Lee Gilmore Harrelson, 58, wife of Roger Harrelson, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Gordonsville, Va., she was a daughter of the late David Gilmore and the late Peggie Allen Gilmore.
Mrs. Harrelson was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; three daughters, Kristi Connor and her husband, Larry, Mindi Lowery and her husband, Jimmy, and Ashley Harrelson and her companion, Corey Geddings, all of Sumter; two brothers, Charles Gilmore of Culpeper, Va., and George Gilmore of Orange, Va.; four sisters, Jeanne Pittman of Imlay City, Mich., Irma Jacobs of Reva, Va., Sue Contaoi of Orange, Va., and Sheila Fauber of Sumter; and five grandchildren, Tyler Connor, Mary-Katherine Connor, Ross Connor, Hunter Lowery and Abby Lowery.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Blount.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Park Cemetery in Wolftown, Va.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 32 Briarwood Drive.

LYNCHBURG — Rebecca Howell Tolson, 88, widow of Watson M. Tolson, died Feb. 12, 2003, after a short illness.
She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Susannah Octavia and George L. Howell. She was a member of the Lynchburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Marian T. Gray of Lamar; son and daughter-in-law, W.A. and Amelia Ann Tolson of Lynchburg; grandchildren, W.M. (Top) Gray, Becky Ann Ishman, Watson Tolson, Anna Marie Strickland, Debbie Schultz and Kay Claytor; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Broadway; and grandson, Michael Gray.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Lynchburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Ridenhour and the Rev. Bill Ishman will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery near Cartersville.

HENRY B. SANDERS
Henry Benjamin Sanders passed away Feb. 7, 2003, in Eatontown, N.J. He was born Aug. 13,1913, in Dalzell.
Henry met and married his first wife, the late Pearl Evelyn Spann. Henry performed his military service from which he was honorably discharged. As a widower, he married Maria Burgess Pitts in 1966. After many years of service, he retired from Shaw A.F.B. Henry was a longstanding pillar of the community, whose advice, support and services were frequently sought.
Due to failing health, Henry and Maria relocated to Eatontown, N.J., at the home of their daughter, Vivian.
His memory will be lovingly cherished and sustained by his children, Fred (Genetha) China, Sumter, Vivian S. Barron, Eatontown, N.J., Alethia Crawley, Bronx, N.Y., Henry O. (Pearlie) Sanders, Atlanta, Everett L. (Julia) Sanders, East Point, Ga., Evelyn L. (Edward) Williams, College Park, Ga.; one sister, Susie Weeks, Philadelphia; one brother, Charles (Catherine) Singleton, Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Louise B. (Ezel) Gadson, Sumter; one brother-in-law, Silas (Rebecca) Burgess, Bronx, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at Wayman Chapel AME Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Laddie Howard, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter.
The body will be placed in the church from noon until the hour of service.
The funeral procession will leave at noon from the Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 South Main St.

BISHOPVILLE — Helen Mae Harrell, widow of Benjamin Franklin Harrell, died Feb. 12, 2003, at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, Bishopville.
She was born in Oakley Mugley, Okla.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elder and Mrs. Arthur Nickelson, 11 South Salem Ave., Sumter.

Audrey Mae Colclough White, 43, wife of Ronald White, died Feb. 9, 2003, at her residence, 3 Middle St., Sumter.
Born Aug. 25, 1959, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Geneva E. Spann Colclough Gavin and the late John A. “Greek” Colclough Sr. and stepdaughter of Arthur Gavin Jr. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. She was also affiliated with New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sumter. She was a 1977 graduate of Sumter High School and also attended Sumter Technical College.
Survivors besides her husband and parents include a son, Carlos Antonio Colclough of Philadelphia; three stepdaughters, Keisha McCray of Sumter, Ebony White of Sumter and Monica Sinkler of Sumter; five brothers, John Allen Colclough Jr. of Monroe, N.C., Walter Colclough of Philadelphia, David Colclough of Minneapolis, Minn., Tyrone Colclough of Minneapolis and Larry Colclough of Wedgefield; two sisters, Janette Spann of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dian C. Pringle of Wedgefield; two stepgrandchildren; mother-in-law, Lillie L. White; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. H.B. Shaw officiating, assisted by the Rev. Retha M. Nelson and the Rev. Angela Shaw.
Burial will be in Dicks Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Anderson Hynes, 61, wife of Harry F. Hynes Sr., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Augusta, Ga., she was the daughter of Marcella Howell Anderson and the late William Edward Anderson.
Mrs. Hynes was a member of First Baptist Church and the Sanctuary Choir.
Surviving are her husband of Sumter; her mother of North Augusta, S.C.; two sons, Harry F. Hynes Jr. and his wife, Donna, and Eddie Hynes and his wife, Vivian, of Sumter; a brother, Thomas W. Anderson of North Augusta; a sister, Gail Bridges of North Augusta; and four grandchildren, Russell Hynes, Lakin Hynes, Bradley Hynes and Kimberly Hynes.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Anderson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeff Burns officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Jones Jr., Ed Wright, Jimmy Harley, Bill Shuler, Charles Dinkins and Albert Heath.

LEXINGTON — Funeral service for Berg Samuel Simpson, 65, of Lexington, will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Shives Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Avery G. Paris. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park.

Mr. Simpson died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003.
Born in Sumter, S.C., he was a son of the late Benjamin Griffin and Sudie Pack Simpson. He worked in the trucking industry for 49 years. At the time of his death, he was operations manager for AAA Cooper Transportation. Mr. Simpson was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he was a recipient of The Silver Beaver Award. He was also active in the Fellowship Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. Mr. Simpson served with the 82nd Army Airborne.
Survivors are: his wife, Mignon Garrett Simpson; children, Kay Coogler, Al Gantt, Tonya Simpson, Eric Simpson and Desirae Arrington; nine grandchildren; brother, Keith Simpson; and a sister, Marie Paschal.
MARGUERITE RIGBY
MANNING — Marguerite Rigby, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Tampa, Fla.
Born in Manning, she was a daughter of the late John Horton and Cammie Harvin Rigby. She received her bachelor of art degree from Winthrop College in South Carolina and was Methodist by faith. She served in the U.S. Navy from l948 to l953 and was honorably discharged. Peggy moved to Tampa in 1956 and was employed as executive secretary for the chief of police until her retirement in 1986, receiving high honors for her dedication and loyalty to the Tampa Police Department.
Surviving are nephews, Rigby Jenerette of Mullins, Giles Jenerette of Myrtle Beach; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Lula F. Rigby, Alleen Rigby and Mary Jenerette; and brothers, Ashley, Cameron and Horton Rigby.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Manning Cemetery.

MANNING — John Wesley McKnight, 73, husband of Easter Stukes McKnight, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, S.C.
Born Feb. 10, 1930, in the Davis Station section of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Moses McKnight Sr. and Alma White McKnight. He received his formal education at Spring Hill Elementary School. At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined Laurel Hill AME Church.
Survivors include two sons, John McKnight of Miami, Fla., and Willie Lee McKnight of the home; three daughters, Inez (Wayne) Newman of Baltimore, Md., Alma Williams of Miami, Fla., and Barbara McKnight of the home; two stepdaughters, Deloris (Alfred) Holliday of Baltimore, Md., and Ruth (Dennis) Mulls of Buffalo, N.Y.; a stepsister, Dorothy (Shortie) Nelson of Miami, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elease Pearson and Dorrthy Robinson; and a brother, Moses McKnight Jr.
The remains will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Hill AME Church, M.W. Rickenbaker Road, Davis Station community, Summerton, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown, pastor, officiating.

Hattie K. McCaw, 92, widow of James McCaw, died Feb. 11, 2003, at Tuomey Health Care System.
Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Mack Kirkland and Ella Alston Kirkland. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County.
Survivors include five daughters, Ethel Sanders, Ella Osborne, Hattie Sanders, Mary Smith and Eva McCoy; three sisters, Marie Hunter, Mamie Pollard and Bernice Dinkins; 25 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny McCoy and Lewis McCoy; two sisters, Ella Dennis and Maggie Davis; and two brothers, Mack Kirkland Jr. and Loney Kirkland.
A wake service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.
The remains will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.
