C. GENEVA MARTIN-JAMES
Cecelia Geneva Martin-James, 76, widow of Isiah James Sr., died Feb. 24, 2003, at Palmetto Richland Hospital.
Born April 12, 1926, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Martin and Octavia Pack Martin. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She received Christ at an early age and was a member of the Enon Missionary Baptist Church. After marriage, she joined Calvary Baptist Church. She was employed as a domestic worker. While at Calvary, she was a diligent worker and a faithful member of the usher board. She was also a member of the Household of Ruth No. 1754.
Survivors include a son, Isiah James Jr. of Ridgeland; six daughters, Shirley A.Spaulding (Morris) of Brunswick, Ga., Iona Dingle (Mose) of Sumter, Gladys Jefferson (Robert) of Sumter, Loretta James of Sumter, Thelma J. Chaney of Sumter, and Viola J. Noel (Sammuel) of Uniondale, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Inez Dinkins (Richard); two sisters, Mary M. Hardy of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Virginia M. Jackson of Sumter; two adopted sisters, Mille Canty of Pinewood and Essie Pringle of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one aunt, Wilhelmenia Billups of Plainfield, N.J.; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Derick D. James.
Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Pinewood, with the Rev. E.L. Sanders, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at noon.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 560 McCrays Mill Road, Sumter, S.C. 29150.
Job’s Mortuary inc. is in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD H. GRAHAM
BRONX, N.Y. — Richard “Ricky” Herbert Graham, 49, died Feb. 22, 2003, at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
Born June 20, 1953, in Harlem, N.Y., he was a son of Bernice Graham Harrison and the late Herbert Wroten Sr. and the stepson of Calvin Harrison Sr. He attended P.S. 66 in the Bronx, N.Y. He resided in Waterbury, Conn., for a number of years, in Los Angeles, Calif., and Florence, S.C., where he left in 2001. He was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury, Conn. He was an accomplished musician percussionist, a carpenter by trade, and was formerly employed at Universal Studios in Hollywood, Calif.
Survivors besides his parents include two sons, Darnell M. Graham of Waterbury, Conn., and Adrian R. Graham of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Shana Graham of Boca Raton, Fla.; two brothers, Jeffrey Graham of Connecticut and Derrick (Regina) Harrison of Effingham, S.C.; two half-brothers, Wayne Wroten of New York City and Herbert Wroten Jr. of New York City; a stepbrother, Calvin Harrison Jr.; five stepsisters, Geraldine, Shirley, Addie, Ivonne and Mildred; a special aunt, Lula Wilkes of New York; other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Savannah Grove Baptist Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph W. Canty Sr., pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lewellyn Dewitt and Minister Bobby Graham Dewitt. Burial will be in Florence Memorial Garden. The body will be placed in the church Saturday at 10 a.m.
The family is receiving friends at the home of his mother, Bernice G. Harrison, 808 E. Scarlett Lane, Florence, S.C. 29505.

MARY L. McCAULEY
Mary Lee McCauley, 49, wife of Willie McCauley, died Feb. 27, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of James and Rebecca Stukes McDuffie.
The family will receive friends at 499 Holman Road.
Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc.

EDWIN JAMES
Edwin James died Feb. 23, 2003, at Tuomey Healthcare System, Sumter.
Born Sept. 3, 1942, in Sumter County, he was a son of Joseph James Sr. and the late Annie Blakely James. At an early age, he joined Antioch AME Church in Rimini. He was a 1962 graduate of Manchester High School.
Survivors include a son, Edwin Evans of Roselle, N.J.; two daughters, Minnie D. Leaf and husband, Fletcher, of Sumter, and Wanda B. Evans of Hillside, N.J.; a brother, Joseph James Jr. of Sumter; eight sisters, Martha J. Dove, Jackie Nance, Rosa A. (Marshall) Marshall, Annie M. Young and Dorothy James, all of Rimini, Melvenia James of Camden, Fannie Dingle of Fayetteville, N.C., and Lucille James of Pinewood; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday at 1 p.m. at Antioch AME Church, Rimini. The Rev. Dr. Sylvester R. Miott, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Warren E. Hatcher, the Rev. Saymon James, the Rev. Leroy T. James and the Rev. Roosevelt Boyd.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Flower bearers will be the missionary society of Antioch AME Church and friends of the family.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CLEATA R. STUBENRAUCH
WEDGEFIELD — Cleata Raye Stubenrauch Schoenbeck, age 57, beloved wife of 15 years to Donald Dennis Schoenbeck, died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, in Columbia, S.C.
She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter of Cletus Stubenrauch and the late Camille Kelly Stubenrauch. She was a former office manager for Hose & Equipment in Sumter.
Surviving in addition to her husband and father are: two sons, Steve Manross and his wife, Suzie, of Waverly, Iowa, and Jeff Manross and his wife, Adrea, of Irmo, S.C.; one brother, Tom Stubenrauch of Janesville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Terris, Anthony, Christopher, Kyle, Alex and Nicole.
She was preceded in death by her mother; one brother, Jerry Stubenrauch; and one sister, Mary Lee Stubenrauch.
Funeral services will be held in Waterloo, Iowa, at the Hagerty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Home Chapel at a later date.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the S.C. Oncology Association, PA, 1301 Taylor St., Suite 1-A, Columbia, S.C. 29201.
The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home to handle the local arrangements.

KAVIN CULICK
LAKE CITY — Kavin Culick, age 29, of Lake City, died on Feb. 28, 2003, at a Lake City hospital after an illness.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.
Visitation will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born in Florence County, he was a son of H.L. (Dankey) Culick and Virginia Byrd Culick. Mr. Culick attended Clarendon County Disabilities and Special Needs Board - Day Program and Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Culick was preceded in death by a niece, Laci Shady; a sister, Wendy Marie Culick; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Hanniford Coker; and maternal grandfather, Alex Byrd.
Surviving besides his parents of Lake City are: two sisters, Shannon (Chuck) Shady and Meninea Culick, both of Lake City; two brothers, Joey (Sue) Culick of Cades and Danny Culick of Lake City; paternal grandparents, Albert and Nina Culick of Lake City; and maternal step-grandfather, J.P. Coker of Lake City.

ALFRED R. LANIER
LAMAR — Graveside services for U.S. Air Force Retired Chief Master Sgt. Alfred Roscoe Lanier, age 64, who died Feb. 27, will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from the Florence National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 7 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel.
Mr. Lanier was born in Duplin County, N.C., a son of the late Archie R. and Gaybrella Wood Lanier. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 29 years of service.
Surviving are sons, David McCullar of Mocksville, N.C., and Gene Lanier of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Kim McCullar of Atlanta, Ga., and Lisa Schacher of Surfside Beach; sisters, Reba Maready of Cape Carteret, N.C., and Donna Faye Kennedy of Kodak, Tenn.; a brother, H.G. Lanier of Ashland, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Earl Lanier; and a sister, Rebecca Ruth Harrington.

ROBIN JAMES Jr.
PINEWOOD — Robin “Bernie” James Jr., 85, husband of Martha Wilder James, died Feb. 26, 2003, at 214 James St., Pinewood.
Born Feb. 28, 1917, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Robin James Sr. and Ella McConico James. He was a lifelong member of Antioch UME Church where he served on the trustee board and was a class leader. He retired from Kirven Lumber Co. after 40 years of service.
Survivors besides his wife include a foster son, Willie Lee (Kim) Singleton of Stateburg; a stepson, James Wilder of Queens, N.Y.; a daughter, Joyce Singleton of Pinewood; three stepdaughters, Gracie (Adren) Williams of Sumter, Jeanette (Ezekiel) Burns of Sumter, and Carolyn Pearson of Sumter; a foster daughter, Annie Ruth Sparks of Sumter; two sisters, Mary Carraway of Pinewood and Ethel Heyward of Sumter; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; ten step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Washington James, Rufus James and William James; three sisters, Alethea Benjamin, Sara McConico and Camilla McCoy; and a step-grandchild, Ranelle Burns.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Antioch UME Church, Rimini, with the Rev. Jonathan Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 214 James St., Pinewood, S.C. 29125.

BABY MONIQUE A. JACKSON
Baby Monique Andreyah Jackson died Feb. 27, 2003, at Tuomey Healthcare Systems.
Born Feb. 27, 2003, at Tuomey Healthcare Systems, she was a daughter of Nichole White and Steven Jackson.
Survivors besides her parents include maternal grandparents, Deyarn (Larry) Hill, Wilson (Annie) Green; paternal grandparents, Andrew Jackson and Joanetta Jackson; two aunts, Latasha White and Laurencia Hill; great-grandmother, Nancy White-Ellison; and a host of other relatives.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Dick’s Cemetery.
Burial will be in Dick’s Cemetery.

RUBY MAE E. DYAL
KINGSTREE — Ruby Mae Epps Dyal, 63, widow of Henry Dyal Sr., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003.
She was a daughter of the late Joshua and Georgianna Epps.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Dyal and James Dyal of Warm Spring, Ga.; three brothers, Joshua Epps Jr., Moses Epps and Thomas Epps; six sisters, Mary Hill, Laura Lark, Georgianna Morris, Betty Bivins, Lucille Elmore and Mae Bell McFadden; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Rubin Epps; and three sisters, Ellen, Polly and Louise.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church, Cades, with the Rev. Joseph O. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Green’s Funeral Home of Lake City is in charge of arrangements.

ALMA JOHNSON
AUGUSTA, GA — Alma Geddings Ardis Johnson, 90, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Forrest Lake Health Care in Martinez, Ga.
Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late John Edward Geddings and the late Addie Ethel Geddings.
Mrs. Geddings was twice married, first to the late Marshall W. Ardis and then to the late Phillip C. Johnson. She was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Katherine A. Jones of Augusta, Ga., one sister, Camilla G. Smith of Sebring, Fla., four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Holley will officiate.
Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 today at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home.

COLUMBIA — Samuel James, husband of Minnie Davis James, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.
Mr. James was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Jamesville, Va. He was a son of Sammie and Hellen Fitchett James.
The family will receive friends at 10 Ole Still Lane in Elgin.
