FREDRICK R. HONEYWELL
SAN ANTONIO — Retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Fredrick Richard “Rick” Honeywell, 42, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002.
Rick grew up in Cranford, N.J., and joined the U.S. Air Force when he was 19 years old. He enjoyed the field of aircraft maintenance and was proud to serve his country. He was stationed in and deployed to many places around the world throughout his military career. His last battle was a personal one, with multiple myeloma, which he fought with the courage and determination that underlined his life. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Christina, daughter Megan, age 7, and son Daniel, age 5. He is also survived by his mother, Loretta Honeywell of Cranford, N.J.; his father, Forest Honeywell of Littleton, Colo.; brothers Forest, Patrick and Steven Honeywell; and sisters Kathleen Honeywell and Michelle MacNamara.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Arlington National Cemetery. Friends and colleagues are welcome to attend.

LORI M. MATTSON
Lori Margaret Mattson, 45, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002.
She was a daughter of the late Col. and Mrs. Bill Mattson.
Survivors include a brother, Jeff Mattson of Greenville; and two sisters, Julie Mattson of Charleston and Georgene Assur of Fairfax, Va.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Wateree near Liberty.

TOMMY H. NELSON
Tommy Harrison Nelson, 52, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at his home.
Born Nov. 11, 1950, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Joe Nelson Jr. and Serena Darby Nelson Harrison. He attended Howard High School in Georgetown, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Princess Anne of Maryland, and Morgan State Graduate School in Baltimore. He was a member of Dickerson AME Church in Georgetown. He was employed as a teacher and counselor.
Survivors include a daughter, LaTonya Nelson of Bronx, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Tianna Tomlinson of Bronx; three brothers, Richard Nelson of Georgetown, Dr. Robert Nelson of Macon, Ga., and Tony Nelson of Middletown, Conn.; eight sisters, Carolyn Nelson, Dorothy Prioleau and Willie Brightwell of Bronx, Jeanette Thompson of New Brittain, Conn., Sadie Williams and Hazel Campbell of Hartford, Conn., Doris Price of Windsor, Conn., and Lafaye Gilliard of Georgetown; an uncle, the Rev. Jerry Nelson of Georgetown; and a great-aunt, Katherine Coley of Georgetown.
The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. today at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dickerson AME Church. Burial will be in Morning Glory Cemetery.

OVIEANCE N. TAYLOR
Ovieance “Peaches” NyZhae Taylor, 2, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born June 7, 2000, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Lataya Sharie Taylor and Corey Atwan Walters.
Survivors besides her parents include a brother, Jimmy Kwan Epps of Georgia; two sisters, India Taylor and Felicia Taylor, both of Sumter; maternal grandparents, Larry and Frankey Mae Dinkins of Sumter and Joseph and Christina Toney of Elliott; paternal grandparents, Verleen Walters of Lynchburg and David Lee Henry of Georgetown; maternal great-grandparents, Rosa Lee Taylor and Eddie Taylor Jr. of Sumter and Naomie Toney of Lynchburg; paternal great-grandparents, Ellen Henry and Willie Henry Jr. of Lynchburg; two godmothers; and a number of aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather, Vip Toney.
A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Job’s Mortuary Inc.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Wedgefield.
Burial will be in St. Peter AME Church Cemetery in Mayesville.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the home, 406 W. Oakland Ave.
Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

HOMER H. WARD
Homer H. Ward, 77, husband of Dianne Ward, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.
Born in Asheville, N.C., he was a son of the late Ecton Ward and Anna Smith Ward. He retired from Campbell Soup Co.
Survivors besides his wife of Lexington include two sons, William Ward of Sumter and Homer L. Ward of Columbus, Ga.; a daughter, Barbara Ward Elkins of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, John Ward and Walter Ward, both of Asheville; a sister, Lena Teague of Asheville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Sumter Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MONROE WATTS
MANNING — Monroe Watts, 78, widower of Catherine Gray Watts, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at 1040 Lumley Ave., Sugar Hill community of Manning.
Born Feb. 15, 1924, in Prattville, Ala., he was a son of the late Moses Watts and Rosa Crenshaw Watts.
Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

LEO BRADLEY
Leo Bradley, 46, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The family will receive friends at 570 Cousal Branch Road, Bishopville. Services will be announced by Boatwright Funeral Home of Bishopville.

MINNIE C. DAVIS
COLUMBIA — Minnie Lee Charles Davis, 54, wife of Walter “Eagle” Davis, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Providence Hospital. Born Dec. 18, 1947, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Emma Howard Charles and the late Samuel Charles.
The family will receive friends at the home, 511 Alcott Drive, Apt. 25-E, Columbia.
Services will be announced by Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

CHARLES J. KELLY
COLUMBIA — Charles J. Kelly died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002. He was a son of Charles Kelly Sr. and Rosa W. Kelly Lennon and grandson of Louise Kelly of Bishopville. Funeral services will be held at noon today at Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church, Bishopville, with the Rev. Julia Sanders and the Rev. Richard Addison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

PEARL J. ANDERSON
LAKE CITY — Pearl Joyner Anderson, 89, widow of Calvin Anderson, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Commander Nursing Center, after an extended illness. Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Edna Fennell Joyner. She was a member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was retired from Talon Manufacturing Co. Survivors include a son, Harry R. Anderson and his wife, Barbara, of Hanahan; a grandson, Harry R. “Randy” Anderson II of Camden, N.C.; two brothers, Hardy Joyner and his wife, Lura, of North Charleston and the Rev. Leon Joyner and his wife, Janice, of Sumter; and a sister, Garnet Ham of Florence. She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Anderson; a brother, Jack H. Joyner; and three sisters, Jenny Lee Evans, Magaline Mims and Bell Tedder. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Brockington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O. Box 220, Lake City, SC 29560. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret A. Mills, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at a local nursing facility.
Services will be announced by Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home.

JHAMEI MALIK DAVIS
BISHOPVILLE — Jhamei Malik Davis died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Carolina Hospital System.
Born Dec. 3, he was the infant of Anthony Davis and Jacqueline Anderson.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today at McCutchen Cemetery.

MARY ALICE LEE
Mary Alice Lee died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Hopewell Nursing Home.
Born May 22, 1913, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Moultrie Weston and Elizabeth Williams Weston.
The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Maggie Harris, 4977 Dennis Road, Rembert. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Palmer Memorial Chapel, Inc.

HERBERT L. WIGGINS
BISHOPVILLE — Herbert Lacy Wiggins, 72, widower of Ruth S. Wiggins, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville.
Born in Apalachicola, Fla., he was a son of the late H.L. Wiggins Sr. and the late Estelle Lastinger Wiggins.
He attended Chapman High School and was a retired produce merchant and World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include three daughters, Robin Kirkland of Bishopville, Debbie Brumfield of Milton, Fla., and Kaye Baltzer of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Gary Eastridge of Mobile, Ala., and David Eastridge of Gonzales, La.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Martha.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. today in the chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with Father Ted Duvall officiating.
Burial will be in Umatilla, Fla.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his daughter, Robin Kirkland, 45 Tara Lane, Bishopville.

ANNETTE MARIE HERRINGTON GRANT
QUEENS, N.Y. — Annette Marie Herrington Grant, 84, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at New York Medical Center.
Born June 28, 1918, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Herrington and Lucy Wells Herrington.
The family will receive friends at the home of Susie Williams, 4365 Herrington Road, Rembert, and Willie Mae Martin, 4215 Log Cabin Road, Rembert. Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home, Inc.

BERTHA MACK McCALL
Bertha Mack McCall, 83, widow of William McCall, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1919, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Jarett and Martha Deas Mack.
The family will receive friends at her home, 6520 Dinkins Mill Road, Rembert.
Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home, Inc.

LULA JOE
Lula Joe, wife of Roosevelt Joe, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 14, 1960, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Isaac and Isabell White Isaac.
The family will receive friends at the home, 504 S. Harvin St.

ALFRED V. SMITH
NEW ZION — Alfred Vernell Smith died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at his home in New Zion.
Born May 22, 1943, he was a son of the late Wade Hampton Smith and Isolene Eugenia McClary Smith.
He attended Lodabar Grammar School and was a 1961 graduate of Walker-Gamble High School. He continued his education at the Temple School of Business in Washington, D.C. He was formerly a data processor at Hann Shoe Co. in Washington, D.C., and Merita Bakery in Florence. He retired from Model Dye in Sumter. He was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church (USA).
Survivors include a son, Aldric Smith of Lynchburg; three daughters, Maria Smith of Washington, D.C., Tracie Smith of Beltville, Md., and Ashley Wright and her husband, Jermaine, of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, Wade Smith Jr. and his wife, Ada, of New Zion; four sisters, Gloria Frierson and her husband, Ulysses, of Florence, Charlena Timmons and her husband, James, of Quinby, Slyvia Ivey and Marion Smith, both of New Zion; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friendship Presbyterian Church (USA) with the Rev. Stanley W. Jones, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
