Lottie Gardner Bradham, 96, widow of Clinch Heyward Bradham, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Robert N. Gardner and the late Edna Hodge Gardner.
Mrs. Bradham was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Kenneth E. Gardner of Sumter and his wife Doris.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert L. Gardner and B.H. Gardner, and 2 sisters Martha Gardner Saunders and Lila Gardner Luton.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday at the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late John Abel and the late Katherine VanHouten Abel.

Henry Phillip Cote, 80, widower of Martha Ann Cote, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida.
Born in Plaistow, New Hampshire, he was a son of the late Eugene Albert Cote and the late Ida Cote.
Mr. Cote was a retired U. S. Air Force World War II veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Sheree Povich and husband Jim of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Sheila Cote of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Richard Cote of New Hampshire; a sister, Cecile Balovre of New Hampshire; and two granddaughters, Brooke Povich and Jamie Povich.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Whitehead officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

Scriven Spencer Brunson, Jr., 79, husband of Betty Lee Phillips Brunson, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at his home.
Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Scriven Spencer Brunson, Sr. and the late Meta Boykin Brunson.
Mr. Brunson was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving during World War II. He was a retired chemical salesman and co-owner of “Savor the Flavor.” He was a long-time youth football and baseball Athletic Coach and also a member of American Legion Post #15 and the Sumter-Lee Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; a son, Scriven Spencer Brunson, III and wife Lee of Greenville; a daughter, Anne Brunson Thomas and husband Robert E. Thomas, Jr. of Sumter; 6 grandchildren, David Brunson, Leigh Richardson, Ryan Brunson, Suzanne Brunson, Ret Thomas, and Carolyn Brunson; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Phillips Brunson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Ryan Pack officiating.

Louise Jackson Burrows, 90, widow of A. M. “Rag” Burrows, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at a local nursing center.
Born March 8, 1915, in Horatio, she was a daughter of the late Charles Atkinson Jackson and the late Alice James Jackson.
Mrs. Burrows was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Hillcrest High School. She was a member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church during her adult life. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Circle, was on the Flower Committee, and was instrumental in the installation of the stained glass windows in the Sanctuary.
Surviving are two daughters, Caroline Burrows Lawson and her husband Rutledge Lawson, MD of Greenville and Irene Adele Burrows of Sumter; five grandchildren, Jeanne Lawson Williams and her husband Joe, John R. Lawson and his wife Pam, G. Alex Lawson, Mary Eadon Robinson and her husband David, and Julia Christine Burrows and her husband Tim Kurr; six great-grandchildren, Blake, Rutledge, and Ashley Lawson; Alexis and Ashby Robinson; and Dylan Alexander Burrows-Kurr.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Freeman and three brothers, Charles, Julian and James Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at Tirzah Presbyterian Church in Dalzell with the Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ann Mathis Moore
1935-2005
Ann Mathis Moore, 69, of Sumter, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at her home surrounded by family and comforted by those who loved her.
Born November 21, 1935 in High Shoals, (Rutherford Co.) North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Mathis and the late Kate Gillespie Mathis.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church and an active member of the Sumter Elks Lodge #855 where she served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary from 1979 to 1980. From 1985 through 2002 Mrs. Moore worked for the 3rd Judicial Circuit (Sumter, Lee, Williamsburg, and Clarendon Counties) of the Guardian ad Litem as both a Child Guardian and as the office’s inaugural administrative assistant. She was dedicated to the mission of serving children by working closely with volunteers in the Guardian ad Litem program.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Edward and Elizabeth Moore of Columbia, SC and Mitchell Alonzo and Jamie Moore of Athens, Ga.; and her daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine Susan and Lt. Col. Stephen Lowery of Tucson, AZ and Lisa Ann and Thomas Mahoney of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are her eight remaining grandchildren, Lauren Nichole Green of Phoenix, AZ, Cadet Michael Brandon Moore of The Citadel, Charleston, SC, Melissa Ann Robertson of Charlotte, NC, Mitchell Blake Moore, Hunter Bryce Moore, and Hutchison Blair Moore all of Columbia, SC, John Austin Moore and Ashley Lynn Moore of Athens, GA. Mrs. Moore had one great-grandchild, Nathan Lane Robertson of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Johnny David Mathis of Rock Hill, SC; her mother-in-law, Susie Wade Moore of Chester, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Major John W. Moore, USAF (Ret.); her sister, Patty Hedgepath; and her grandson, Michael Lane Robertson.

Born in Tallahassee, Fla., she was the daughter of Wesley Millard and Dorothy Jean Branham Millard. She was the granddaughter of Dorothy H. Branham and the late Melvin Branham.
Mrs. Randolph was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. and worked in the public relations department for Winn Dixie Inc.
Surviving are her parents of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her husband of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Steven Anthony Molina of Jacksonville, Fla. and Philip Andrew Molina of San Antonio TX; two daughters, Stephanie Maria Molina of San Antonio TX, and Lauren Maria Fitz Randolph of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Catherine V. Millard of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Julie M. Paull and her husband Roger of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two brothers, David Wesley Millard of Beaufort, SC and John Branham Millard of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews.

William Robert Frierson, Sr., 82, husband of Julia Evans Frierson, died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Sterling House.
Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Joseph Terrell Frierson and the late Elise Lesesne Frierson and grew up in the Mouzon Community of Williamsburg County.
Mr. Frierson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a U. S. Navy World War II veteran and served as a Navy Medic in the South Pacific Theater at the Battle of Guadalcanal. He was a retired salesman with American Bakeries Company and a member of American Legion Post #15.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, W. Robert Frierson, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Columbia and Dr. Richard L. Frierson of Columbia; a brother, J. Francis Frierson of Columbia; a sister, Elizabeth Dickert of Greenwood; two grandchildren, William R. Frierson, III and Sam Frierson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman N. Compton, Sr., 85, died Saturday, February 12, 2005 at his home in Okeechobee, Florida.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Jim Henry Compton, Sr. and the late Clara Haley Compton.
Mr. Compton was a member of Big Lake Church of Christ in Florida and the Camden Church of Christ, Camden, S.C. He was a retired employee of DuPont and Walmart. A World War II veteran, he participated in the D-Day Invasion, was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge for which he received a Purple Heart.
Surviving are three daughters, Norma C. Leadingham of Limestone, Tennessee, Dannell Stefanick of Elgranda, California, and Victoria Lee Hucker of Landenberg, Pa.; a son, Norman N. Compton, Jr. of Boaz, Alabama; a brother, Warren Compton of Columbia, S.C.; and a sister, Ethylene Finley of Sumter; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Minnie Ruth Berry Compton.

Born in New Zion, he was a son of the late Levie James Morris and the late Carrie Hagen Morris.
Mr. Morris worked for the S.C. State Forestry Commission and retired as a poultry grower for Gold Kist. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay Shugart and husband Charles of Sumter; a son, John Phillip Morris and wife Shirley of Santee; a granddaughter, Reita E. Shugart of Sumter; two step-grandchildren, Kerry Filyaw and Angie Todd both of Sumter; a sister, Vivian Lavender of Georgia; and a brother, Julius Morris of Sumter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Van Daley and Lou Ellen Nesbitt.
