Shirley Clarice Wilson-Geddie, 29, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 14, 1971, in Bishopville, she was a daughter of Charlie Stukes and the late Mary Lou Pearson-Wilson Washington. She attended Bishopville High School and was a devoted person to her family and especially children. Survivors other than her father include a son, Leroy Moore Jr.; three brothers, Leo Wilson, Isaac Pearson and John Henry Washington, all of Newark, N. J.; four sisters, Evelyn Jenkins, Deloris English and Wilhelmenia Hickmon, all of Sumter, and Jearline Mickens of Newark, N. J.; and various aunts, uncles, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Moses; a brother, Curtis Pearson; and a nephew, James Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the parlor of Job’s Mortuary, 312 S. FLORENCE — Geneva Eckles Wright, 69, widow of Paul “Doc” Wright Jr., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital Systems. Born Jan. 28, 1932, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Bertha Perkins Eckles. She attended the public schools of Florence County. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was a dedicated member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Terry Wright of Effingham; two daughters, Brenda Ervin and Zina Wright, both of Effingham; three stepchildren, Leroy Haskell of Eutawville, and Paul Wright III and Delois B. Wright, both of New Haven, Conn.; four sisters, Edna Mae Jordan, Annie (Mutt) Williams, Amy Marie Eckles and Pearlie McDaniely, all of Effingham; three stepsisters, Naomi Waters of Florence, Ollie Mae Nowlin of Effingham, and Jean Eagleton of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and various aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Savannah Grove Baptist Church, 2620 Alligator Road in Effingham, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph W. Canty Sr. officiating. The remains will be placed in the church for viewing from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Garden. MANNING — Rhedus Dozier King, 90, wife of the Rev. Warren King Sr., died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at her home in the Wilson community of Clarendon County. Born Oct. 10, 1910, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. William Dozier and Hager Gamble Dozier. Educated in the public schools of Clarendon County, she received a cosmetology degree from Sumter Cosmetology School. She joined Williams Chapel Christian Church at an early age, served as a class leader and the church’s lead singer. Survivors include two sons, Warren King Jr. and Stephen King, both of Manning; an adopted daughter, Thelma Dozier of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lee King; and two sons, Winston Churchill King and Elijah King. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Williams Chapel Christian Church, U.S. 521 in Manning, with the Rev. Emanuel Evans, pastor, officiating, with the Rev. Charlie Dozier assisting. Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Arthur and Josephine Lambright. He attended Orangeburg County public schools. In his youth, he joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Freddie Carroway and Queen Gamble Carroway. Educated in the public schools of Clarendon County, he joined Cypress Fork A.M.E. Church and served as a member of the trustee board and the senior choir. He was also a member of the YMCA and a retired employee of Georgia-Pacific Inc. Survivors include a son, Robert Carroway of Sumter; two stepsons, Gregory Houston of Atlanta, Ga., and Tommy Houston of Sumter; three daughters, Sylvia Davis of Oxford, N.C., Emma Carroway of Creedmoor, N.C., and Sharon Carroway of Sumter; three sisters, Lillie May Carroway of Alcolu, Cora Lee Tanner of Bronx, N.Y., and Mary Lee Jones of Norfolk, Va.; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Sumter and was a member of the American Legion No. 15 of Sumter. He retired as a data processor with Lear Seigler in Cleveland, Ohio.
