PARALEE F. MONTGOMERY
Paralee Felder Montgomery, 71, widow of Isaiah Montgomery, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at her home. Born May 22, 1930, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Eliza Brock Felder. The family will receive friends at the home, 260 Mockingbird Lane. Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

THEOLA B. RAWLINSON
COLUMBIA — Theola Brown Rawlinson, 47, widow of Edmond Rawlinson Jr., died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Dorn Veterans Medical Center in Columbia. Born May 29, 1954, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Hattie Montgomery Brown. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Sheldon Bennett, 1902 Hazelwood Road, Columbia. Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

SAMMY K. BRYANT
Sammy K. Bryant Sr., 63, widower of Lillie Mae Bryant, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Kingstree, he was a son of the late Leo Curtis Bryant Sr. and Dorothy Browder Atkinson. He was a retired truck driver and also retired from Fort Roofing Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include two sons, Sammy K. Bryant Jr. and Darrin Eugene Bryant, both of Sumter; two daughters, Donna Kaye Hughes of Sumter and Rebecca Lynn Hough of Peachland, N.C.; two brothers, Don Atkinson and John H. Atkinson, both of Sumter; two sisters, Virgina Manly of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Vicki Jo Atkinson of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo C. Bryant Jr.; a sister, Sandra A. McLeod; and two grandchildren, Bridgette Bryant and Heath Ehrhardt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Joe Henderson, Keith Arrington, Dale Browder, Jack Evans Jr., Christopher Capell, and Jeffrey Yarborough will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home, 3705 Lindella Road, and also at the home of Sammy Bryant Jr., 3764 Barkley Road. Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

ALLYNE A. PAYNE
Allyne A. Payne, 82, widow of Earle Payne, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Jamestown, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Charles Morgan and Alice Christionson Morgan. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Robert Scott Phillips and his wife, Kathleen, of Sumter; a brother, Charles Morgan of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a sister, Marjorie Kiefer of Marietta, Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Burton Morgan and James Morgan. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Metze and the Rev. Theron Smith officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3075 Brittany Drive. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210. Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

SAMMIE JAMES III
Sammie James III, 63, died in Orangeburg. Born July 11, 1938, in Rimini, he was a son of the late Sammie James II and Julia Fairy James. Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc.

HAROLD BOINES
ALCOLU — Harold Boines, 48, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001. Born Aug. 3, 1953, in Bronx, N.Y., he was a son of William Boines and the late Bessie Barfield Boines. The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara Barfield Jackson, 4545 Relief Road in Alcolu. Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc.

OSCAR DOBSON
LYNCHBURG — Oscar Dobson, 85, widower of Clara Mouzon Dobson, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at McLeod Medical Center in Darlington. Born on Aug. 10, 1916, in Wilmington, N.C., he was a son of the late Joe Dobson and Martha Mae Dobson. He attended Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Olanta. He received his formal education in the public schools of Wilmington, and was a retired farmer. Survivors include two sons, Donnie Dobson of New Zion and Thomas Lee Dobson of Lynchburg; two daughters, Lucinda McDowell and Mary Rose, both of Lynchburg; three brothers, Robert Dobson, Raymond Dobson and George Dobson; two sisters, Ida Dobson and Mary Dobson; 27 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Dobson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Way of Life Church of Jesus Christ on Plaza Road in Lamar with Bishop Larry Dobson, pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by Elders A.R. Rose, Lawrence McElveen and Bobby Williams. Burial will be in Grooms Cemetery in Lamar. The family will receive friends at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Michael and Mary Rose, at 1395 Douglas Swamp Road in the St. John Community of Lynchburg. Samuels Funeral Home, LLC of Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

MARION PEARSON JR.
Brother Marion Pearson, Jr., 61, widower of Helen McFadden Pearson, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at his residence. Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Marion Pearson Sr. and Emma Dow Pearson. He was a faithful member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church until his illness. At Enon Baptist Church he served on the choir, senior usher board, trustee board and the men’s ministry. He was excited about sharing his great news of being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and being filled with the Holy Ghost. He enjoyed fishing and singing. One of his favorite songs was “He Did it All by Himself.” He enjoyed his work as a self-employed plumber. He worked at Georgia Pacific and Hill Plumbing Company for many years. He retired from Hill Plumbing Co. in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Imogene Kelly of Wedgefield, Ada Pearson of the home and Marion Searson; seven brothers, Aaron Pearson, William Pearson, Elijah Pearson, the Rev. Thomas Pearson, Silas Pearson, all of Sumter, and Sulton Pearson of Bronx, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary V. Pearson of Bronx, N.Y., and Martha Kelly of Columbia; and 14 grandchildren, and two special nieces, Sandy Pearson of Sumter and Renee McLaughlin of Bronx, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Enon Missionary Baptist Church on Pinewood Road in Sumter, with the Rev. Stanley E. Hayes Sr., pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Barrington Pierson, the Rev. Anthony Taylor, Elder James Mickens, Elder Albert Kelly and the Rev. Gregory Jackson. Burial will be in Haynesworth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be trustees. Floral bearers will be missionaries and friends. The funeral procession will leave at 1:45 p.m. from his home, 10 Buttercup St. The family will receive friends at the home. The remains will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Williams Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

SUSANA BOWEN
Susana Bowen, widow of Benjamin Bowen, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Willie Roach and Rosana Wright Harrison.
The family will receive friends at 609 Dechamp Road.
Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

MICHAEL MICKENS
BISHOPVILLE — Michael Mickens, 27, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville.
The family will receive friends at 215 Hansel St., Bishopville.
Services will be announced by Square Deal Funeral Home of Bishopville.

ARCHIE K. COKER
Archie Kelly Coker Sr., 71, widower of Barbara McLeod Coker, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at his home with his family at his side.
Born in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Archie Elston Coker and Margaret Ellen Sims Coker. He was the retired owner of Coker Mobile Homes in Lugoff and a member of Harmony Church.
Survivors include two sons, Archie Kelly Coker Jr., and his wife, Margie, of Manning and Kevin Coker of Tallahassee, Fla.; four daughters, Gail Waynick and her husband, Harold, of Sumter, Belva Bradley and her husband, Mark, of Manning, Paula Cox and her husband, Mike, of Sumter, and Cristi Kinder and her husband, Scott, of Sumter; a sister, Margaret C. Yates of Sumter; 10 grandchildren, Kelliegh Waynick Lowder, Tripp Waynick, Brent Waynick, Donald Alford, Brad Bradley, Mechelle Cox, Michael Cox, Brandon Kinder, Jordan Kinder and Ryane Kinder, all of Sumter; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Blonzo, Burdell, Rudolph and Woodrow Coker; and two sisters, Mary Bochette and Odessa Browder.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the sanctuary of Harmony Church with the Rev. Drew Choate officiating. Burial will be in Trinity United Methodist Church cemetery in Alcolu.
Pat Yates, Eddie Coker, Dewey Coker, Cecil Browder, Archie Coker and Larry Coker will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1640 U.S. 521 South.

LUCILLE P. DUBOSE
MANNING — Lucille Pool DuBose, 82, widow of Smith Furman DuBose, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Born March 12, 1919, in Hot Springs, Ark., she was a daughter of the late Roy and Pearl Gossett Pool. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Albertson Chase of Omaha, Neb.; a stepson, Clyde Furman DuBose of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Ruby McColloch and Kitty Jenkins of Benton, Ark., Mary Pearl Detherage and Carolyn Spears of Little Rock, Ark.; and three grandchildren, Richard Albertson, Dennis Albertson and Debbie Albertson, all of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Gerald Smith DuBose; three sisters, Vera Hollowoa, Lena Goad and Doris Burks; and a granddaughter, Darla Stanton of Omaha, Neb.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with Dr. Paul Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Manning.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Corine Ard, 206 Breedin St., Manning.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 49 W. Boyce St., Manning, SC 29102.

LILA M. HYATT
Lila Morris Hyatt, 83, widow of Claude T. Hyatt, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at her home in West Virginia.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Mack J. Morris and the late Cornelia Osteen Morris. She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple.
Survivors include two sons, James Thomas Hyatt of Dalzell and Robert Lee Hyatt of Sumter; two daughters, Frances V. Smith of West Virginia and Sarah Elaine Shealy of Irmo; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sumter Baptist Temple with the Rev. Eddie Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Sumter Baptist Temple and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Hyatt, 3110 Bush Lane, Dalzell.
Memorials may be made to Sumter Baptist Temple, 2295 Harper St., Sumter, SC 29153.

MATTIE RIVERS
SUMMERTON — Mattie “Biggie” Rivers, 54, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
Born May 24, 1947, in the St. Paul community of Summerton in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Esau Rivers and Esther Caldwell Rivers. She was a 1966 graduate of Scotts Branch High School in Summerton. She was a member of the Greater St. Phillip RMUE Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was employed by Federal Mogul Inc. in Summerton from 1978 until her health failed.
Survivors include a son, James “Biggie” Croslen Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Regina Brunson and Yolineda Lawson, both of Summerton; a brother, Henry Rivers of Summerton; three sisters, Hattie Williams of the home, Mamie Jefferson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mary Waller of District Heights, Md.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill AME Church in Summerton with the Rev. Warren Hatcher officiating, assisted by the Rev. Malachi Duncan, the Rev. Amos Hatcher, the Rev. Alfonzo Waller and Pastor O’Celia Blue. Burial will be in the Greater St. Phillip RMUE Church Cemetery, Old River Road, Pinewood.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday. There will be no viewing after services.
Elijah Briggs, Malachi Caldwell, Clint Frierson, Robert Moultrie, Samuel Moultrie and Dawson Watson will serve as pallbearers.
Her Federal Mogul co-workers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Members of the Scotts Branch High School Class of 1966 and her Federal Mogul co-workers will serve as flower bearers.
The funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the home of her sister, Hattie Williams, 2002 Jim Ross Road, St. Paul community, Summerton.
The family will receive friends at the home of Hattie Williams.
Summerton Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
