ALCOLU — Wallace “Coon” Epps, 66, husband of Rutherlee Hudson Epps, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
Born March 17, 1935, in the St. Mark community of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Willie James Epps and Gracie Tomlin Epps. He attended Clarendon County public schools. In his youth, he joined Harmony Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon until his health failed. He was a retired employee of Campbell Soup Co. of Sumter.
Survivors besides his wife of the home include four sons, Julius Michael Epps of Atlanta, Ga., Detric Epps and Franklin Epps, both of Columbia and Ronnie Epps of Alcolu; four daughters, Jacqueline Woods and Doris Felder, both of Manning, Gwendolyn Harris of Charlotte, N.C., and Ruthie Harrison of Miami, Fla.; six brothers, Lewis Epps, Eli Epps, Isiah Epps, James Epps and Charles Epps, all of Alcolu, and Willie Tomlin of Baltimore, Md.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bubba Epps, Bennie Epps and Frank Epps; and three sisters, Elouise Epps, Lou Ethel Epps and Lizzie Canty.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harmony Presbyterian Church (USA), U.S. 301 North, Alcolu, with the Rev. Carnell Hampton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1222 Ocean Road, Alcolu.

John Grant Moise, 48, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of Harold Moise II and Clara Grant Moise. He was owner of Moise Enterprises, an environmental service company. He graduated from Wilson Hall School, attended The Citadel and the University of South Carolina at Sumter.
Survivors besides his parents include two brothers, Harold Edwin Moise of San Antonio, Texas, and Henry LeNoir Moise of Mt. Pleasant; two nieces and a nephew.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Barr and the Rev. Mark Riggs officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home, 13 Glendale Court.

FLORENCE — Donald Ellison Marinko, 54, of Florence, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at his home.
Born Jan. 27, 1947, in Florence, he was a son of Mary Stilley Marinko and the late John Earnest Marinko. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He was a former “Gysgt” U.S. Marine, having served during the Vietnam War. While serving in the Marines, he received the Air Medal with 16thAwd, Naval Air Medal with Combat “V”, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal with three stars, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation with Palm and Frame, Rifle Marksman and Pistol Expert. He also received military education in Mechanics Fundamentals, Avn Mach Mate, Recruiters and SNCO Academy. Following his discharge, he received an associate’s degree in tool and die.
Survivors besides his mother include three brothers, W. Terry Marinko and his wife, Corrin, of Summerville, John Andrew Marinko and his wife, Kathy, of Sumter, and Micky Marinko of Kingston, Ga.; and a niece, Jennifer Marinko of Sumter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Florence National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Issac “Bootney” Vaughn died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Tanglewood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ridgeway.
Born Nov. 5, 1934, he was a son of the late Henry and Carrie Gayle Vaughn. He attended Sumter County public schools. He was a member of St. Luke AME Church. He was employed by Korn Industries.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Webb, Sandra Humes and Linda Vaughn Williams of Sumter; three brothers, Richard Vaughn of Jersey City, N.J., Junious Vaughn of Bayonne, N.J., and William Vaughn of Sumter; a sister, Rosa M. Frasier of Sumter; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Clarence, Silas and James Vaughn; and a sister, Mary V. Bowen.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke AME Church with the Rev. Lula Gary officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

GREELEYVILLE — Susan “Susie” Witherspoon Bradshaw, 79, wife of Lewington Bradshaw Sr., died today, Dec. 18, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.
Born May 4, 1922, in the Wilson community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Chappell Witherspoon Sr. and Rovenia Charles Witherspoon.
The family will receive friends at the home, Easler Highway and 101 Oliver Loop, Greeleyville.

Fannie Mae Prescott, widow of Edward Prescott, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born July 6, 1943, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late James Williams and Fannie Gallishaw.

SCRANTON — Samuel “Moose” Hanna, 71, husband of Josephine Gaskin Hanna, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System in Lake City.
Born Dec. 29, 1929, in Florence County, he was a son of the late David Hanna and Nettie Graham Hanna. He was retired from Player and Evans Construction Co.
Survivors besides his wife of the home include four sons, Abraham Hanna and his wife, Jewel, of Frisco, Texas, David Hanna and his wife, Lillie Bell, of Johnsonville, Samuel Hanna Jr. of Scranton and Charles Hanna and his wife, Patricia, of Lake City; three daughters, Gloria Jackson and her husband, Alvin, and Susan Robinson, both of Scranton, and Margaret V. Hanna of Lake City; two brothers, Lavern Hanna of Lake City and Leon Hanna and his wife, Almae, of Scranton; two sisters, Alice Rogers and Novelean Brockington of Philadelphia, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Zion Baptist Church, Old Georgetown Road, Camerontown community, Lake City, with the Rev. J.J. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sandhill Memorial Park in Lake City.

Vivian “Vickie” Iola Jones, 34, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of Raymond Harold Jones and Iola Brunson Spivey. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors besides her father of Sumter and her mother of Elgin include a brother, Hal Jones of Sumter; several aunts, uncles and a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Grasty, the Rev. Laverne Hancock and the Rev. Dennis Banks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

MANNING — Anna Smith Marshall died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born Feb. 28, 1919, near Manning, she was a daughter of the late Ed Smith and Louisa Postell Smith. She attended Clarendon County public schools.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church, past president of the Senior Missionary Society, member of senior choir and former Sunday school teacher, as well as being active in both the Greater Friendly Union and The Christian Fellowship Association. She did domestic work in the community for most of her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Glendell P.A. Mayfield of New York, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Christine Howard and her husband, Johnny, of Bronx, N.Y., and Mary Louise Singleton and her husband, Alvin, of Sumter; five sisters, Louise Conyers and Lois Smith, both of Silver, Bessie White of Sumter, Willie Mae Glisson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Lillie Mae Pearson of Baltimore, Md.; nieces and nephews, the Rev. Vermelle Humes, Deloris Davis and Yvonne Carter, all of Sumter, Harrell, Irvin and Sammie Marshall, all of Mayesville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. O’Donald Dingle officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Summerton.

Aurelia W. “Ree” Winfield, 59, wife of James “Jim” Winfield, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.
Born in Ashwood in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late W.R. Watts Sr. and Beulah M. Cantey Watts. She was employed by Becton Dickinson.
Survivors besides her husband of Sumter include two sons, Paul Jones of Ashwood and Farrell Jones of Sumter; three stepsons, Joey Winfield and David Winfield, both of Sumter, and Ronnie Winfield of Charleston; three sisters, Ruth Dukes, Hazel Rhiner and Ann White, all of Sumter; three brothers, Bill Watts of Florence, W.L. Watts and Steve Watts, both of Ashwood; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Jones; a stepson, Robby Winfield; and a brother, Marion Watts.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
