GREENVILLE — Margaret Mills Cubbage, 86, formerly of Sumter, widow of Ladson G. Cubbage Sr., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Oakleaf Village Assisted Living Community. Born in Statesville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Annie Mills. She attended the University of South Carolina and participated in and taught a number of child development seminars. She was a kindergarten teacher at Grace Baptist Church in Sumter for more than 20 years. She was an active member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Sumter. Survivors include two sons, Dr. James A. Hill Jr. and Leighton Mills Cubbage, both of Greenville; a daughter, Mary Hazel Marshall of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepson, Ladson G. Cubbage Jr. of Spartanburg; a stepdaughter, Mary Borry of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Alpert. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Jovon Rokeen Gaymon, 20, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 18, 1980, in Sumter, he was a son of Henretta and James Gadson and Jarrett B. and Barbara Logan. He was a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Sumter public schools and also attended Sumter High School and Lakewood High School. Survivors besides his parents of Sumter include three daughters, Alexus Taquanda Gaymon of the home, Kayla Samone Gaymon of Charlotte, N.C., and Danisha Alexandra Walker of Sumter; a brother, Jarrett B. Logan Jr. of Sumter; three sisters, Ashley J. Gadson of the home, Sherrice S. Logan of Sumter, and Gloria Gaymon of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepsister, Harmony Gadson of Sumter; maternal grandparents, Roy and Mattie Jones; paternal grandparent, Amanda Logan; and maternal great-grandmother, Maggie Copeland, all of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Harry Lee Gaymon Jr.; a paternal grandfather; two uncles, Jake Logan and Bobby Earl Gaymon; and a special cousin, Corey Henry Copeland. Robert Marvin Hudson Sr., 92, husband of Edna Kolb Hudson, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Thomas E. and Hattie Shorter Hudson. He was a lifelong member and deacon emeritus of Bethel Baptist Church. He served the church in many other roles over the years, including as trustee and leader of the Cemetery Committee. He was a longtime retiree of the Williams Furniture Division of Georgia Pacific. He was first married to the late Estelle Bartlette Hudson for 57 years. Survivors besides his wife include four sons, James W. Hudson and his wife, Mary Alice, of Sumter, Clyde E. Hudson of Sumter, H. Gordon Hudson and his wife, Marilyn, of Pawleys Island, and Thomas R. Hudson and his wife, Vicki, of Lexington; two daughters, Evelyn H. Sniecinski and her husband, Frank, of Sumter; and Esther H. Baker of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Cora L. Hudson of Sumter; a brother, John Thomas Hudson and his wife, Josie, of Pinewood; six sisters, Ruby H. White and her husband, W.T., of Sumter, Trudy H. McLeod of Sumter, Lila H. Jacqueline “Jackie” Butler Muldrow, wife of Michael Muldrow, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at her home, 1638 Broome St. Born Aug. 5, 1960, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Cornelia Robinson Butler and the late Lee Butler. She was a 1979 graduate of Sumter High School. In her youth, she joined Salem Baptist Church. She resided in Virginia Beach, Va., and attended the Church Ambassadors for Christ under the leadership of Bishop C.N. White. She recently moved back to Sumter. Survivors besides her husband and mother include a son, Tony J. Muldrow of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Coltne M. Muldrow and April M. Muldrow, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four sisters, Vivian Butler, Martha Butler-Kenty and Carolina Spears, all of Sumter, and Barbara Lacy of Spanaway, Wash. Mozelle Isaac Peaks died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Mariner Health of Sumter East. Born April 22, 1924, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Isaac Weston Sr. and Corean Weston. She attended Lee and Sumter County public schools and was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School. After graduation, she enrolled in Morris College. She was raised in the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church and was active until she moved to Youngstown, Ohio. In Youngstown, she was a member of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang on the senior choir, was vice president of the gospel choir, treasurer of the Benevolent Fund and was a member of the Jolly Ten Club. After returning to the Sumter community, she joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was a member of the NAACP. She was the first person of color to be employed as a salesperson with the W.T. Grant Dept. store in Youngstown. She later retired as a team supervisor in the industrial field. Survivors include a brother, Herbert Isaac Jr. of Denmark; and two sisters, Frances Bryant and Dorothy Richards, both of Sumter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James F. Isaac and Curtis Isaac. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Telley L. Gadson, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev.
