LAKE CITY — Floyd Eaddy Sr., 90, widower of Louvenia Fleming Eaddy, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Lake City/Scranton Health Care.
Born Oct. 10, 1911, in Lake City, he was a son of the late Henry and Carrie Cameron Eaddy. He retired from Well Industries in Johnsonville and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd Eaddy Jr. and Adolph Eaddy, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a daughter, Jimmmie Eaddy of Washington, D.C.; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethel AME Church, Camerontown Road, Lake City, with the Rev. Eric V. Fladger officiating. Burial will be in Cameron Cemetery.
Masonic Brothers of Lodge No. 322 will serve as pallbearers.
The funeral procession will leave at 2:10 p.m. Sunday from the home, 2414 Camerontown Road, Lake City.

Cecil Oxendine, 56, husband of Pansy Stone Oxendine, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Dalzell, he was a son of the late Mansfield Oxendine and Nellie Benenhaley Oxendine. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and was employed by Gold Kist.
Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include two sons, Cecil Oxendine Jr. and Travis Butler, both of Sumter; four daughters, Mona Rodgers, Stacey Rodgers, Heidi Geddings and Amy Oxendine, all of Sumter; two brothers, Billy Oxendine and Burgess Oxendine, both of Sumter; three sisters, Jeanette McCoy, Annie Mae Miller and Marian Benenhaley, all of Sumter; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Carroll Waddell, the Rev. Donnie Collins and Ralph Oxendine officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Michael McCoy, Billy Joe McCoy, Carl McCoy, Toby Oxendine, Carl Stone, David Stone and Shorty Stone will serve as pallbearers.
Gary Samborne will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Celia Louise Pate, 92, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 30, 1909, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Levi Coleman Pate and Minnie Bell Gardner Pate.
She attended Bishopville schools. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was retired from Efrids.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth P. Peeples and her husband, John Randolph Peeples, of Sumter; two nieces, Derbiana P. Bowers and her husband, Grover F. Bowers III, of Okatee and Margaret “Marce” P. Warner and her husband, Robert E. Warner Jr., of Baton Rouge, La.; two nephews, David D. Peeples of Mt. Pleasant and Robert F. Peeples of Bishopville; a great-niece, Margret E. Bowers; and five great-nephews, Grover F. Bowers IV, Hunter T. Bowers, Jacob P. Warner, Lawton P. Warner and Hamilton C. Warner.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie L. Pate; two brothers, Fred C. Pate and Bernard M. Pate; and a nephew, John Randolph Peeples Jr.

MADISON, Ga. — Ruby Neel Strawhorn Rigby, 95, widow of Charles S. Rigby Jr., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at McGeary House.
Born May 9, 1906, in Greenwood, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Warren Carter Strawhorn and Ella Rose McKellar Strawhorn. She was a member of Madison Presbyterian Church in Medlin, Ga. She attended Winthrop College.
Survivors include two daughters, Rose Ann Rigby Weaver of Madison, Ga. and Susan Ellen Rigby Staples of Atlanta; a son, Charles Samuel Rigby III of Haymarket, Va.; and 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Manning Cemetery, with Dr. William J. Holmes officiating.

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. — Charles Harris Johnson died recently in Bridgeport, Conn. Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Willis Henry and Clara Brown Johnson.
Survivors include a sister, Maggie Johnson-Wilson and her husband James V. (Ted) Wilson, both of Sumter; six children, eight other siblings, and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the King’s Funeral Home in Chester.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Henry “Dick” Williams, 69, widower of Janie Samuel Williams, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Greater South East Community Hospital.
Born March 26, 1931, in Lee County, he was a son of the late James Williams and Susanna Wells Williams.
He attended the public schools of Lee County. He became a member of Mt. Sinai United Presbyterian Church until he and his wife moved to Washington, D.C., where he was called home.
Survivors include three brothers, Louis Williams, Matthew Williams, both of Charleston, and Nathaniel Williams of Sumter; and four sisters, Rebecca Durant and Carriel Lee McMillian, both of Charleston, Mozell Fortune of Bishopville, and Lucille Charles of St. Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc. at 821 N. Main St. in Sumter, with the Rev. Frank F. Williams Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Broad Branch Cemetery in Bishopville.
Pallbearers and floral bearers will be friends of the family.
The funeral procession will leave at 1:15 p.m. from the home of his sister, Mozell Fortune, 703 Dog Island Road in Bishopville.

BISHOPVILLE — Etta R. Amerson, 74, wife of John Amerson, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at her home.
Born in Tryon, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Ellis Revan and Ethel Burrell Revan. She was a Baptist.
Survivors besides her husband of Bishopville include a daughter, Brenda Waddell of Bishopville; three sisters, Cora McCallister of Tryon, Wilma Moody of Inman and Helen Berry of Lyman; a brother, Alvin Revan of Honea Path; two half-brothers, Donald Revan and Jerry Revan, both of Landrum; and three half-sisters, Jenny Cole of Landrum, Geraldine Green of Tryon and Kathleen Davis of Greer.

Nathaniel Bowman, 48, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 10, 1953, in Elliott, he was a son of Henrietta McLeod Bowman and the late Robert Lee Bowman. He attended Sumter County public schools. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served until his health failed. He was discharged with honors.
Survivors besides his mother include five brothers, Willie Lee Bowman of Bishopville, Eddie Benjamin of Lynchburg, Andrew Bowman of Jersey City, N.J., Robert Clark of Newark, N.J., and Jimmy Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Carolyn Bowman and Thomasina B. Holloway, both of Sumter, and Rosa Peters and Verniece Elliott, both of Jersey City; an aunt; and a number of uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Clark, Jimmy Lee Bowman and Tracy Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Marion H. Newton, pastor, officiating, assisted by Minister Irene Anthony and Pastor Ricky Simmons. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

SUMMERTON — Idella Tindal Brailsford, widow of Ferdinand Brailsford, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Phiebe and Lawerence Tindal. She attended Clarendon County public schools. She was a lifelong member of Santee AME Church, where she served as a class leader for a number of years. She was also active with the YWCA Lodge.
Survivors include four sons, Jonathan Brailsford and James Brailsford, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ferdinand Brailsford Jr. and Thomas Brailsford, both of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Willie Mae Merritt of Raleigh, N.C., Dorothy Garris of Baltimore and Christie Franked of Summerton; a sister, the Rev. Queenie Bennett of Summerton; 40 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ira A. Miller and Ethyl Richardson Miller. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and a retired electronics technician.
Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include a son, Richard Y. Miller of Mocksville, N.C.; a daughter, Mary Beth Dierickx of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister, Margaret M. Burnett of Front Royal, Va.; and three grandchildren.
