OMAH ZUELL
Omah “O” Zuell, 22, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002.
Born March 13, 1979, in Sumter County, he was a son of Nathaniel and Martha Singleton Zuell. He attended Sumter County public schools.
Survivors besides his parents include two brothers, Jabar and Taladeen Zuell, both of the home; a sister, Aneesha Zuell of Sumter; his grandparents, Herbert and Pearl Zuell of Sumter; two uncles; and eight aunts.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Rosa Lee Singleton, and grandfather, Willie Singleton Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Enterprise Church, 1018 Manning Ave., with the Rev. Moses Dingle officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Ray. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his parents, 10 Rovena St. Scriven Funeral Home of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

CARLESS M. BURKE JR.
SUMMERTON — Carless Milford Burke Jr., 79, died today, Jan. 15, 2002, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Services will be announced by Stephens Funeral Home of Manning.

SELINA R. GRIFFIN
Selina R. Griffin, 66, wife of John Henry Griffin Sr., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Services will be announced by Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home of Sumter.

WILLIE PENDERGRASS
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Willie “Bish” Pendergrass, 73, widower of Annie Mae Reid Pendergrass, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Woman’s Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Samuel and Rosa Sabb Pendergrass.
Services will be announced by Keene and Carney Funeral Home of Philadelphia.

LILLIE R. WILDER
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lillie Ree Wilder, 87, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Lanham, Md.
She was born in Florence County.
Services will be announced by Green’s Funeral Home of Lake City.

FANNIE H. WILSON
LAKE CITY — Fannie Hickson Wilson, 95, widow of Delus Wilson, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
She was born March 13, 1906, in Florence County.
The family will receive friends at the home, 121 Buff Road, Lake City.
Services will be announced by Green’s Funeral Home of Lake City.

LIZZIE B. WOODS
ALCOLU — Lizzie Brown Woods, 88, widow of McSwain Woods, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born Sept. 20, 1914, in Greeleyville, she was a daughter of the late James Frazier Brown and Jane Whack Bradley and stepdaughter of the late Benjamin Bradley.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Dorothy W. Evins, 5836 Brogdon Road, Westminister community, Alcolu.
Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home of Manning.

ELOISE M. BROWN
Eloise Metts Brown, 79, widow of Eugene W. Brown, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Pinopolis, she was a daughter of the late Henry Metts and Minnie Peagler Metts. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and retired from Pioneer Ltd. She was formerly employed by the National Bank of South Carolina Operations Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Maureen Newman and her husband, Billy, Brenda McKinnon and her husband, Alvin “Skeeter,” and Sheryl Goins and her husband, Sam, all of Sumter; three sisters, Eliza Harris, Ola Wadford and Elsie Locklair, all of St. Stephen; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Carrie Kirby; and a brother, Charlie Metts.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. William F. Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Grandsons, William Anderson, Gregg Anderson, Walter Anderson, Jeffrey Newman, Eddie Newman and Woody Newman will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Maureen Newman, 2935 Bertha Circle.
Memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church Capital Fund Drive, 3350 E. Brewington Road, Sumter, SC 29153.

FRANCES S. DABBS
Frances Stroman Dabbs, 70, wife of Guy McBride Dabbs Jr., died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at the Presbyterian Home in Florence after an extended illness.
Born in Orangeburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles Stroman and Mary Ella Fairey Stroman. She was a member of Salem Black River Presbyterian Church. She attended Winthrop College. She was the former treasurer of the Sumter Junior Welfare League and a former Sunday school teacher and choir member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sumter. She was the former owner and operator of Pineland Plantation Golf Course for 25 years. She was a member of the Sumter Art Association and a member of the Sumter County Easter Seal Board, where she served as secretary.
Survivors besides her husband of Sumter include two sons, Guy M. Dabbs III of Conyers, Ga., and Brett C. Dabbs of Socastee; a daughter, Lisa Dabbs Crouse of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, Arthur Charles Stroman of Orangeburg; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Black River Presbyterian Church with Dr. William J. Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Furman Dabbs, Guy Dabbs IV, Kyle Christenbury, John Stroman, Reese Dabbs, and Mac Waggett will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the home of Martha Dabbs Greenway following the services.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Black River Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. John S. Wilson, 81 Nash St., Sumter, SC 29150 or to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.

GLADYS W. ROBINSON
SUMMERTON — Gladys Way Robinson, 78, widow of Correll Nelson Robinson, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Twilight Manor in Cayce.
Born March 13, 1923, in Holly Hill, she was a daughter of the late Reuben Hampton Way and Frances Lurline Kemmerlin Way. She was a member of Summerton United Methodist Church. She was retired from Summerton Uniform.
Survivors include two sons, Correll Duey Robinson and his wife, Sandra, and Darrell Huey Robinson and his wife, Arlene, of Columbia; two brothers, James Way and R.H. Way of Summerton; three sisters, Marie Stephens of Summerville, Lillian Bacot of Summerton and Jeanette Carn of Rosenville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Way; and a sister, Blanche May.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Summerton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carolyn Malphrus officiating. Burial will be in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Summerton Evergreen Cemetery, P.O. Box 206, Summerton, SC 29148.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Thelma Britton Brogdon, widow of Rodie Brogdon Sr., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Baltimore, Md.
Born March 22, 1922, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James Britton and Marie Witherspoon Britton.
The family will receive friends at 501 Silver St., Sumter.
Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc. of Sumter.

TAMAR C. DAVENPORT
Tamar Capers Davenport died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Hopewell HealthCare Center.
She was a daughter of the late Maggie Capers and Grinison Colclough.

DOROTHY B. JOHNSON
MANNING — Dorothy Blackwell Johnson, 63, of 1154 Archer Ave., Manning, wife of Richard Johnson Sr., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Bloomville community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Ned Blackwell and Mildred Stukes Blackwell.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rochell and Bernard Mathis, 1474 Meagan Lane, S.C. 261 East, Manning. Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home of Manning.

Elizabeth “Betty” Karvelas Poulos, 80, wife of Chris Poulos, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at a local nursing center.
Services will be announced by Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home.

JAMES WILSON JR.
James Wilson Jr., 58, husband of Lucille Wilson, died today, Jan. 30, 2002.
Born Jan. 17, 1944, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late James Wilson Sr. and Eva McCoy.
The family will receive friends at the home, 314 Bowman Drive. Services will be announced by Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

SARAH E. BLYTHER
Sarah E. Clavon Blyther, 80, widow of Deacon Willie Blyther Sr., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at her home.
Born April 21, 1921, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Doctor and Sarah Williams Clavon. In her youth, she joined Galilee Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the deaconess board, mother’s club, missionary society, pastor’s aide, senior and gospel choirs.
Survivors include four sons, William Blyther of Columbia, David Blyther of Columbus, Ga., Dock Samuel Blyther of Southbridge, Mass., and Bobby Blyther of Cheverly, Md.; three daughters, Willie M. Lancaster of Dover, Del., Ollie B. Brown of Orange, N.J., and Sara L. Blyther of Sumter; five sisters, Ollie McLeod of Richmond, Va., Mary Ann Green, Betty Dwyer and Wilber C. Davis, all of Sumter, and Annie M. James of Burlington, N.C.; a granddaughter, Wilhelmenia Gary of Sumter; 37 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Willie Blyther Jr.; a daughter, Dorothy M. Blyther Sims; and three grandchildren. Wake services will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Job’s Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Galilee Baptist Church in Mayesville with the Rev. Eugene Myers, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willie Benjamin. Burial will be in Mayesville Cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the home, 25 Harry St.
Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.
