Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com MYERS -- Lillian Cox Myers, 80, widow of Chaplin (Col. USAF) Thomas E. "Gene" Myers, died Saturday, August 30, 1997, in a Florence nursing center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 2, 1997, in the Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed at the Old Johnsonville Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home. She was born in Hemingway, a daughter of the late James Walton Cox and Amanda Josephine Huggins Cox. She was a retired teacher, author, founder of Lillian Myers Teaching Ministries. She was a member of Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Women's Auxiliary of the church, Emmanuel College and Piedmont College Alumni Associations and Emmanuel College Outstanding Alumna 1981. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School (valedictorian), Emmanuel Junior College, Piedmont College (B.A.) and University of Hawaii. Survivors are: two sons, Lt. Col. Joeseph E. Myers of Martinsburg, W. Va.; and Barry Myers of Hemingway.
MADISON -- Funeral services for Brown Junior Madison were held Thursday, September 11, 1997, at North Kingstree Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Albert Mosley. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Madison, 50, died Saturday, September 6, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born July 9, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of Mrs. Sara Lee Epps Madison and the late Brown Madison. He was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of North Kingstree Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Mrs. Mattie Thomas Madison of Kingstree; one son, Kojak Brown Madison of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. LaTonya Scott of Rochester, N.Y.; and Tecola Leemable Madison of Kingstree; one brother, James Madison of Kingstree; five sisters, Mrs. Belinda Mayes, Mrs. Mildred Epps and Mrs. Victoria Epps, all of Kingstree; Mrs. Debbie Madison of Maryland; and Mrs. Gracie Montanez of Fayetteville, N.C.; and his father- and mother-in-law, John and Mabel Thomas, all of Kingstree.
McFADDEN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Croskey McFadden were held Friday, September 12, 1997, at Bethelhem Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Bonus Miller. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McFadden, 75, died Saturday, September 6, 1997, at Clarendon County Hospital in Manning. She was born April 1, 1922, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late George Croskey and Florence Murray. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a member of the Missionary Society and a member of the senior choir. She was also a member of Y.M.C.A. #18. Survivors are: her husband, John Henry McFadden of the home; two sons, Henry Warren McFadden, Jr. of Columbia; and George Booze McFadden of Salters; two sisters, Mrs. Lessley Jones of Mullins; and Mrs. Eva Woods of Columbia; and two Godchildren, Vanitra La-preciouse Stocker and Todd Henry Baxley of Columbia.
GREEN -- Funeral services for Deacon Louis Green, Sr. were held Thursday, September 11, 1997, at Bibleway Temple in Lane, conducted by Elder Thomas Plowden. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Green, 53, died Friday, September 5, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. He was born April 24, 1944, in Kingstree, a son of the late Lee Green and Lucille Salters Green Nesmith. He was a church member of Bibleway Temple where he served as a deacon, a former member of St. Peters Way of the Cross and Mt. Sinai Way of the Cross where he served as a deacon. He sang with the Gospel Echoes for 20 years. He was employed with Baxter Travenol for 20 years, Wellman Industries for three years, Georgia Pacific for three years and as a self-employed contractor. Survivors are: his wife, Evangelist Emma Mary Fulton Green of Kingstree; four sons, Minister Louis Green, Jr., John L. Green and Sherman J. Green, all of Kingstree; and Clarence Green of Jonesboro, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. Shanetta McClary, Mrs. Sabrina Giles and Mrs. Crystal Barr, all of Kingstree; three brothers, James Leroy Green and James Ravenel, both of Kingstree; and Leon Green of Thomasville, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wilson, Mrs. Constance Madison and Mrs. Fredrena Nesmith Scott, all of Kingstree; and his mother-in-law, Ruther Mae Fulton of Kingstree.
TISDALE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Gean Tisdale were held Friday, September 12, 1997, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. John Sellers. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Tisdale, 50, died Friday, September 5, 1997, at her home in Kingstree. She was born June 1, 1947, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Wilmer Lee and Della Boyd Lee. She was a church member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a 1967 graduate of St. Mark High School and was employed by Baxter Laboratory for ten years. Survivors are: her husband, Calvin Tisdale of Greensboro, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Debra Lee Smith of Yonkers, N.Y.; and Mrs. Angela Lee and Mrs. Penny Tisdale, both of Kingstree; and three sisters, Mrs. Elouise Scott, Mrs. Bernetha Jones and Mrs. Annie Mae Scott, all of Kingstree.
EASLER -- Services for Tillman William Easler, 77, were held Tuesday, September 9, 1997, at Culler-McAlbany Funeral Home. Burial followed in Richburg Cemetery in Greeleyville. Mr. Easler died Sunday, September 7, 1997. Born in Greeleyville, he was a son of the late Henry William and Emma Lockleir Easler. He was an Army veteran and was retired from Carolina Eastman. He was a retired farmer, a Mason, a Shriner and a former member of NASCAR. Survivors are: his wife, Margaret Brown Easler of Swansea; one son, William L. "Bubba" Easler of Lexington; one daughter, Carol Dowless of Gaston; one brother, Harry Easler of Greeleyville; and three sisters, Louise Webber of Greenwood; Emma Lee Easler of Greeleyville; and Laura Howell of Charleston.
WYRICK -- Ted M. Wyrick, 57, died Saturday, September 14, 1997, in a Memphis, Tn. hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 16, 1997, in Dyersburg, Tn. Mr. Wyrick, a former resident of Kingstree, was a retired executive with Colonial Rubber Works in Kingstree. He was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, Mrs. Margaret Combs of Nashville, Tn., are: his wife, Natalie Thompson Wyrick; and two sons, Richard D. Wyrick of McMinnville, TN.; Ted Thompson Wyrick of Savannah, Ga.; and two brothers and one sister.
WHITFIELD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ola McKnight Whitfield were held Saturday, September 20, 1997, at Central Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Lori Pressley. Burial followed in Salters Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitfield, 69, died Tuesday, September 16, 1997, at Florence Hospital in Florence. She was born June 8, 1928, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late William Bright McKnight and Leler Singletary McKnight. She was a church member of Central Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deaconess. Survivors are: three sons, Thomas Whitfield, Jr., Joe Louis Whitfield and Ulyssess Whitfield, all of Salters; and two daughters, Leler Ferrel of Lane; and Mrs. Debra Covert of Salters.
RIVERS -- Funeral services for Albert B. Rivers, 51, were held Wednesday, September 17, 1997, at Nazareth A.M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Bryan McNeal. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Mr. Rivers was born May 4, 1946, in Andrews, a son of the late Willie and Janie Gamble Rivers. He graduated from Rosemary High School in Andrews. He was a member of Nazareth A.M.E. Church, where he served as an Usher and a Trustee. Survivors are: his wife, Susan Linnen Rivers; three daughters, Denise Moore of Andrews; PFC Aloma Linnen of San Diego, Calif.; and Angela Rivers of Georgetown; two brothers, Otis Coachman of Bayonne, N.J.; and Benjamin Richardson of Andrews; and two sisters, Martha Thompson and Gearldine Hannah of Andrews.
NESMITH -- Funeral services for Robert "Boot" Nesmith, Jr. were held Saturday, September 20, 1997, at Friendship United Methodist Church in Nesmith, conducted by Rev. Leonard Huggins. Burial followed in the family plot of the Burrows Cemetery in Nesmith directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Nesmith, 46, died Monday, September 15, 1997, in Ridgeville, S.C. He was born November 17, 1951, to the late Robert Nesmith, Sr. and Emily Faye Scott Nesmith. Survivors are: two sons, Rodney Nesmith and Robin Nesmith, both of Kingstree; one daughter, Roselyn Nesmith of Kingstree; one brother, Raymond Gamble of Orginton, N.J.; and two sisters, Francina Scott of Kingstree; and Runell McCloud of Nesmith.
