MICHAEL LENAIR ARD -- Funeral services for Michael Lenair Ard, 42, were held Fri., Nov. 3, 2000, at Oakwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Wilson. Burial followed at Woodridge Memorial Park directed by Thompson Funeral Home. Mr. Ard died Tuesday, October 31, 2000. Born in Kingstree, he was a son of the late Albert and Lexie Gainey Ard. He was a member and deacon of Oakwood Baptist Church and was the owner of 4MS Trucking Company. Survivors are: his wife, Mary Jane Moore Ard of Lexington; three daughters, Marsena McAllister of Charleston; Sandra McAllister and Michelle Ard, both of Lexington; three sisters, Bertha Ann Chandler of Kingstree; Phyllis Earls of Cumberland Gap, TN; and Peggy Sutton of Knoxville, TN; and four brothers, Phillip Ard of Barnsville, GA; Joe Ard of Lexington; Aubrey Ard of Manning; and Douglas Ard of Greeleyville.

RICKY LEON GAMBLE -- Funeral services for Ricky Leon Gamble were held Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Andrews, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Gamble, Jr. and the Rev. Lorie G. Pressley. Burial followed at Salters Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Gamble, 22, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 25, 1978, in Williamsburg County, a son of the Rev. Eddie Gamble, Jr. and Martha Ann Fulton Gamble. He was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 1996. He attended Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Florence-Darlington Technical College, where he majored in engineering. He was formerly employed with Power 106.1 FM Radio Station in Stephen, SC; Wal-Mart Supercenter of Georgetown, Powell's Food Store of Stephen, SC, Jarrett's Specialty in Kingstree; Andrews Dry Cleaners in Andrews; and Colonial Rubber of Kingstree. He was presently employed by Insteel Wire Incorporation of Andrews. He also was employed part-time with Primerica Financial Services as a personal financial analyst. On Nov. 4, 2000, he was awarded several trophies and plaques for his outstanding achievements with Primerica Financial Services. Survivors, in addition to his parents of the home, are: two brothers, Eddie Gamble, IV and Justin Gerard Thomas Gamble, both of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Debra Ann Nelson of Kingstree; and Mrs. Teresa Cobb of Georgetown; his maternal grandparents, Alton and Lizzie Fulton of Kingstree; and his paternal grandfather, Eddie Gamble, Sr. of Salters.

ADDIE SMITH BROOKS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Addie Caldonia Smith Brooks were held Saturday, November 11, 2000, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lane conducted by the Rev. Clifford Levine. Burial followed at Cowhead Cemetery in Salters directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Brooks, 66, died Tuesday, November 7, 2000, at her residence in Salters. She was born April 20, 1934, a daughter of the late John Zeber and Lilla Mary Mitchell Smith in Dover, NC. She was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was married to the late Rev. Matthew Brooks. She was employed by Longland Plantation.

MIRIAM BROWN CANTLEY -- Mrs. Miriam Brown Cantley, 75, widow of J. Raymon Cantley, Sr., died Thursday, November 9, 2000, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11, 2000, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Cantley was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Herbert McGill Brown, Sr. and Edith McCullough Brown. She was a graduate of Williamsburg County schools and Draughn's Business School. She was retired from the former Winslow Chevrolet-Cadillac Co. and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are: one son, Raymon Cantley of Nesmith; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude B. Phillips of Kingstree; and one brother, J. Edward Brown of Kingstree.

GEORGE CYRUS -- Funeral services for George Cyrus were held Saturday, November 11, 2000, at Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel in Kingstree conducted by the Bishop J. Bernard McCray. Burial followed at Barr's Cemetery in Nesmith directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. Cyrus was born April 16, 1935, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Ben and Hattie Cyrus. He died Sunday, November 5, 2000, at McLeod Hospital in Florence. Survivors are: three sisters, Estell Gamble of Nesmith; Roshell Mose of Kingstree; and Ann Dingle of Philadelphia, PA; and three brothers, Eddie Cyrus and Robert Cyrus, both of Philadelphia, PA; and James Cyrus of Nesmith.

LOU ETHEL PRIDE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Ethel Strong Pride were held Sunday, November 12, 2000, at North Kingstree Baptist Church in Kingstree conducted by the Rev. Standy McCrea. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Pride, 94, died Saturday, November 4, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Lake City. She was born March 15, 1906, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Eddie Strong and Viola McCullough Strong. She was employed by the Williamsburg County School System, where she retired as a food service worker. She was a member and one of the founders of North Kingstree Baptist Church. She was a member of the Farmers Aide Lodge and the senior choir. She was a lifetime member of the NAACP. She was married to the late Tom Pride. Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Lillia Mae Swails of Rochester, NY; and Mrs. Linda Pressley of Lake City; one brother, William Strong of Rochester, NY; and two sisters, Mrs. Lorine Tisdale of Kingstree; and Mrs. Martha Robinson of Rochester, NY.

MARY CONYERS BRINSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Conyers Brinson were held Friday, November 17, 2000, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Samuel B. Cooper and the Rev. James E. Taylor. Burial followed at St. Mary A.M.E. Churchyard Cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. Brinson died Sunday, November 12, 2000, at her daughter's residence in Trio. She was born April 9, 1920, a daughter of the late Elliott Conyers and Paltray Washington Conyers. She was married to the late Arger "Buddy" Brinson. She was a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in Savannah, GA, where she sang on the choir. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Bernice "Trallie" Maxwell of Trio.

MELINDA LOUISE ADAMS -- Funeral services for Melinda Louise Adams were held Thursday, November 16, 2000, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Cades, conducted by the Rev. Frankie Fulmore. Burial was directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. Adams, 33, died Saturday, November 11, 2000, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born June 24, 1967, in Bronx, NY, a daughter of Louis Hunter and Ruthie Lee Adams. Survivors are: two sons, Roynard Adams and Rayetelle Adams, both of Hebron, SC; one daughter, Shaneka Adams of Lake City; three brothers, Allen Adams, Mark Adams and Douglas Adams, all of Lake City; and one sister, Debra Pendergrass of Richmond, VA.

CHRISTINE EPPS McCRAY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Epps McCray were held Thursday, November 16, 2000, at St. Mary United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Sam Lucas. Burial followed at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McCray, 63, died Saturday, November 11, 2000, at her residence in Greeleyville. She was born March 7, 1937, a daughter of Isiah Epps and Gladys Epps. She was a graduate of Tomlinson High School and Georgetown School of Cosmetology. She was employed at Warsaw Manufactory and Baxter Travenol. She was the owner and operator of Uptown Beauty Salon in Kingstree. She was a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church, where she served as the church's recording secretary, a member of the choir and as a church missionary. Survivors, in addition to her parents of Cades, are: her husband, Sam Willie McCray of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Williams of Richmond, VA; two sons, Willie James McCray of Greeleyville; and Billy McCray of the home; one foster daughter, Mrs. Virginia China of Greeleyville; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Annie Bell McCray of Greeleyville; six sisters, Mrs. Rosa Swinney of Wilmington, NC; Mrs. Lillie Mae McFadden of Lake City; Mrs. Laura McFadden of Cades; Mrs. Mary Magaline Williams of Kingstree; Mrs. Nora Franklin of Cades; Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas of Cades; and three brothers, David Isiah Epps of Madison, FL; John Epps of Cades; and Leroy Epps of Indianapolis, IN.

FRANCIS E. MOSELEY -- Francis Eugene (Frank) Moseley, 71, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 15, 2000, in Salters Methodist Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Moseley was born in Salters, a son of the late Albert R. Moseley, Jr. and Naomi Davis Moseley. He was a retired merchant and retired Warden for the SC Forestry Commission. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Salters Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Evelyn Holladay Moseley of Salters; three daughters, Beth Tisdale of Kingstree; Jeanie Bohl of Cary, NC; and Anecia Moseley of Salters; and one brother, R. D. Moseley of Eutawville.
