WILEY CHRIS McKENZIE -- Wiley Chris McKenzie, 50, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, November 17, 2000, in the Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Smith Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. McKenzie was born in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Leona Eaddy McKenzie and the late Wiley P. McKenzie. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College. He was employed by the SC Department of Transportation and was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: his wife, Cynthia Larrabee McKenzie of Kingstree; two sons, Wiley C. McKenzie, Jr. of Athens, GA; and Taylor J. McKenzie of Kingstree; one daughter, Kristina H. McKenzie of Kingstree; and two sisters, Judy Urga of Kingstree; and Janice Lane of Florida.

CONNELLY H. HORTON -- Connelly Hinson Horton, 75, of Lancaster, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, in Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 16, 2000, at the First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Roy Barnes. Burial followed in Lancaster Memorial Park directed by Mahaffey Funeral Home. Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Daniel Wiley and Jerusha Hinson Horton. He was employed as a funeral service assistant with Mahaffey Funeral Home, was a retired employee of Springs Industries Grace Bleachery, was a US Marine Corp veteran of World War II, a member of First Baptist Church, a volunteer firefighter for Antioch Fire Department, Antioch Chapter #291 Order of the Eastern Star, Antioch Masonic Lodge and Hejaz Shrine Temple. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Minta Usher Horton of Lancaster; one brother, William B. "Bill" Horton, Sr. of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Ann Harper of Lancaster.

MAXINE "MAX" McCLARY -- Funeral services for Maxine "Max" McClary were held Nov. 25, 2000, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. McClary died Tues., Nov. 21, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born Nov. 22, 1908, in Kingstree, a daughter of Jeffrey M. and Mable Gamble McClary. She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Usher Board, United Methodist Women and Gospel Choir. She worked for a number of years as a domestic /carekeeper of children. She later became employed as a cook with the Food Service Department of Williamsburg County. Surviving is one brother, Ashley McClary of New York, NY.

DOROTHY THOMPSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Dunmore Scott Thompson were held Fri., Nov. 24, 2000, at Antioch Baptist Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Elder B. Holmes. Burial followed at McKnight Cemetery in Lane directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson, 46, died Monday, November 20, 2000, at McLeod Hospital in Florence. She was born January 10, 1954, in Lane, a daughter of Herbert Dunmore and Ollie Mae Dunmore. She was employed at Williamsburg Knit. She was a member of Antioch Baptist church, where she served on the hospitality society. Survivors, in addition her parents, are: her husband, Leroy Thompson of the home; four sons, Ryan Scott of Alexandria, VA; Larry Scott of Savannah, GA; Terrence Scott of Ft. Hood, TX; and Daryl Scott of the home; four daughters, Adriane Scott of Lane; Tamya Scott of Ft. Hood, TX; Olanda Scott and Christa Scott, both of the home; three brothers, Herbert Dunmore, Jr. of Lebanon, TN; Thomas Dunmore of Lane; and James Dunmore of Alexandria, VA; three sisters, Vivian D. Barial of Alexandria, VA; Joan Hampton of Sumter; and Jennifer Dunmore of Kingstree; and two grandmothers, Mrs. Viola Dunmore and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gibson, both of Lane; her stepfather, Blease Canty of Greeleyville.

ALPRESHIA LOWERY -- Funeral services for Al-preshia Lowery were held Wed., Nov. 22, 2000, at Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Carl Shaw. Burial followed in the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Lowery, 69, died Fri., Nov. 17, 2000, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late McKinley Lowery and Anna Bynum Lowery. She was formerly employed as a presser/operator in the dry cleaning industry. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors are: one brother, Alton Lowery of Salters; and five sisters, Mrs. Earndean Gibson of New York City, NY; Gladys June of Philadelphia, PA; and Mrs. Denoris June of Salters; Mrs. Janie Bradley of Charleston; and Mrs. Betty Jean Duncan of New York, NY.

LAURIE LERAY SCOTT -- Laurie Leray Scott, 66, died Wednesday, November 29, 2000, in Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. Graveside services were held Friday, December 1, 2000, at Tisdale Cemetery in the Millwood Community of Williamsburg County, conducted by the Rev. Charles Case. Burial was directed by Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Mr. Scott was born March 13, 1934, in Kingstree, a son of the late James Cannie Scott and Leila Blanche Tisdale Scott. He was a graduate of Newberry College and served in the Army. Mr. Scott was a rural mail carrier and retired in January 1998 from the US Postal Service. Survivors are: his wife, Martha Wheeler Scott of Georgetown; one daughter, Laurie Lea Scott Altman of Georgetown; two brothers, Dale Scott and Atwood Scott, both of Kingstree; and four sisters, Mattie Lou Baxley, Opal Tisdale, Alestine Scott and Zeloree Lazzari, all of Kingstree.

LEROY JUNIOR SUMPTER -- Funeral services for Leroy Junior Sumpter were held Wednesday, November 29, 2000, at Great Present A.M.E. Church in Andrews, conducted by the Rev. Priest. Burial followed at the churchıs cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Sumpter, 23, died Thursday, November 23, 2000, in Salters. He was born December 4, 1976, in Kingstree, a son of Leroy Brown and Gladys Sumpter Brown. He was a graduate of C.E. Murray High School. He was a member of Great Present A.M.E. Church. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps Reserve, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Salters, are: two sisters, Michelle Sumpter and Jennifer Sumpter, both of Salters; his grandmother, Mrs. Rena Brown of Andrews; and one son, Demonte of Lane.

CLENNIE McBRIDE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Clennie Mae Wilson McBride were held Saturday, December 2, 2000, at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Miller. Burial followed at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nesmith directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Wake services were held Friday evening, December 1, 2000 in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. McBride, 57, died Friday, November 24, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born January 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Samuel Wilson McBride, Sr. and Mary Nesmith. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: three brothers, Samuel Wilson, Jr. of Newport News, VA; Clifton Wilson of Holly Hill, SC; and Theodore Wilson of Clearwater, FL; three step-brothers, Elijah Gamble of Kingstree; Frank Gamble, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; and Oliver Gamble of New Haven, CT; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Mae Jones of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Mary Jane of Florida; and Mrs. Mary Tisdale of Washington, DC; one step-sister, Mrs. Queen Evans of West Pompano Beach, FL; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Julia McBride.

ROBERT DANEL REARDON -- Robert Danel Reardon, 64, died Friday, December 1, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services were held Monday, December 4, 2000, at the Kingstree First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed at Kingstree Memorial Garden directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Reardson was born in Clarendon County, a son of the late Jack and Sue Harrington Reardon. He was a graduate of East Clarendon High School and was a retired employee of Sav-Way in Kingstree and a former restaurant owner. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Miriam Gause Reardon of New Zion; one son, Brian Reardon of Commerce, GA; and one brother, Jackson O. Reardon of Georgetown.

JOHNNY STRANGE -- Funeral services for Johnny Strange were held Sept. 21, 2000, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Anthony Gillard. Burial followed in Singletary Cemetery. Mr. Strange, 40, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in Brooklyn, NY. He was born Feb. 3, 1960, in New York City, NY, a son of Maybell Strange and John Wesley Strange. He was reared by his father and his step-mother, Isabel Strange. He was employed as a jewelry refiner in New York. He was a member of Greater Bibleway Temple in Brooklyn, NY. Survivors are: his step-mother of Cades; five sisters, Barbara Ann Strange and Jennifer Strange, both of NY; Eunice Strange of Durham, NC; She-neda Strange of Columbia; and LaShawn Strange of Durham, NC; and two brothers, Howard Wells of Charlotte, NC; and Leroy Miller of Georgetown.
