Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Kingstree Funeral Home. Mr. Rogers, 24, died March 16, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born May 15, 1976, in Kingstree, a son of Ruth Rogers. He was a member of Miracle Temple Bible Center. He graduated from Kingstree Senior High School and attended Claflin University in Orangeburg. Survivors, in addition to his mother of the home, are: his step-father, Luther McGill of the home; one son, Rashad Pressley of Columbia; one brother, Franktillius Rogers of Lake City; one sister, Clarissa Rogers of Kingstree; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Elouise Rogers of Philadelphia, PA; his daddy, Willie Graham of McNair Nursing Center; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Fulton if Kingstree.
ALEDA McKNIGHT -- Aleda Cantey McKnight, 96, widow of Guy H. McKnight, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at New Market Cemetery in Greeleyville, conducted by the Rev. Hampton I. Perry and the Rev. Grover Mixon. Burial was directed by Stephens Funeral Home. Born April 26, 1904, in Cades, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph Cantey and Emma Baker Cantey. She was a member of Greeleyville Baptist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Polly Moseley Waggoner of Manning; and one brother, Vernon Cantey of Lake City.
TONTOR YORK, SR. -- Funeral services for Tontor "Torrey" Larricku Bernard York, Sr. were held Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Evangelistic Temple Way of the Cross Church in Kingstree, conducted by Bishop Roosevelt Fulton. Burial followed at White Oak Cemetery in Lake City directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. York died Friday, March 24, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born August 4, 1978, in Williamsburg County, a son of Sandra York Merritt and Larry White. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: his wife, Mrs. Samantha W. York of the home; one daughter, Tontoria L. York of the home; two sons, Willie Wade York of the home; and Torrey T. Higgins of Kingstree; one sister, Laytonia J. York of Kingstree; three brothers, Ijelauinian M. D. York, Willie L. York and Joey Q. York, all of Kingstree; his maternal grandparents, Mrs. Janie Mae York and Sam P. York, both of Kingstree; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Janie Mae White of Brooklyn, NY; his maternal great-grandparents, Eugene and Eartha York of Kingstree; his paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Earline Pearson of Kingstree; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jeannie Wade of Kingstree.
JOHN REDDEN -- Funeral services for Ret. Sgt. John Lynwood Redden were held Fri., March 30, 2001, at Beulah A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Rebecca Evans and the Rev. Franklin Fulmore. Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Park in Lake City directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Redden died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, VA. He was born Feb. 10, 1958, in Kingstree, a son of Morris and Mary Sena Redden. He was a 1976 graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. He was a member of Beulah A.M.E. Church. He served in the United States Army in the field artillery division. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Cades, are: his wife, Doris L. Redden of the home; children, Latasha and John D. Redden, both of the home; five brothers, Kenneth Redden of OK; Ronnie Redden, Gilford Redden, Michael Redden and Reggie Redden, all of Kingstree; and three sisters, Verneshia Hunter of Kingstree; Lillie Ann Dozier and Delphina Brown, both of Cades.
DONALD KNIGHT, SR. -- Donald K. Knight, Sr., 64, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Salters Assembly of God Church. Burial followed at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Knight was born in Florence County, a son of Louise Jordan Knight and the late Ralph Knight. He was a retired machinist in the maintenance section at Baxter Laboratories in Kingstree. He was a member of Salters Assembly of God Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Salters, are: his wife, Janie Smith Knight of Kingstree; two sons, Donald K. Knight, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; and Kenneth B. Knight of Sumter; one daughter, Pamela K. Jeffers of Florence; and five sisters, Gertrude Thompson and Anita Haynes of Gaffney; Mattie Sue Kennedy of Johns Island; Catherine Powell of Kingstree; and Ina Blake of
JAMES SNIPES, SR. -- James B. Snipes, Sr., 79, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, March 30, 2001, at the First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed at Sandy Bay Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Snipes was born in Anderson County, SC, a son of the late Weldon and Effie Sharrer Snipes. He was a retired master plumber and pipe fitter. He was a member of Kingstree First Free Will Baptist Church, The Black River Coon Hunting Association and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Sara Anders Snipes of Kings-tree; three children, Pamela A. James, James B. Snipes, Jr. and Dedra M. Shipman, all of Kingstree; two sisters, Thelma Aiken of Anderson and Rosalee Hollifield of Ashville, NC.
CARRIE CONYERS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Tisdale Conyers were held Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Sandhill Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Conyers, 90, died Wed., March 28, 2001, at Florida Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was born April 10, 1910, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Alex Tisdale and Lillie Shaw Tisdale Conyers. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one son, Professor Conyers of Kingstree; three daughters, Mrs. Racheal Welch of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mrs. Essie Parker of Hollywood, FL; and Mrs. Sarah Ann Shepphard of Kingstree; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Nesbitt of Lake City; and Mrs. Susanna Singletary of Durham, NC.
ANTHONY FULTON, JR. -- Funeral services for Anthony Fulton, Jr. were held Monday, April 2, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Fulton, 89, died Wed., March 28, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Anthony Fulton, Sr. and Rena Pendergrass Fulton. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a farmer. He was married to the late Mrs. Mary Magalene Scott Fulton. Survivors are: one step-daughter, Mrs. Marian Rucker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three brothers, the Rev. Nathaniel Fulton of Lincoln, DE; Paul Fulton of Durham, NC; and Ernest Fulton of Charleston; and one sister, Viola Footman.
CHARLIE GORDON -- Funeral services for the Rev. Charlie Cecil "CC" Gordon were held Fri., April 6, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson, Bishop Henry A. Belin, Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Allen Parrott. Burial followed at Gordon Chapel Cemetery in Stuckey directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Gordon, 77, died Tues., April 3, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Hemingway, a son of the late Mackie and Lula Pressley Gordon. He attended Allen University, Morris College and South Carolina State University. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Lane. He retired from Hemingway Area Vocational School and was the owner of Gordon Concrete Products. Organizational affiliations included the NAACP, Williamsburg County SE Reg. Center for Drug Free Schools and Communities, 33 Degree Mason, Knights of Pythagoras, Past Deputy Director PHJ, Chavis Mason Lodge #446, Chavis Chapter #328, OES, Holy Royal Arch Chapter #20, Night Temple Consilislant 33, King Solomon Consistory #330, Shriner and Home Charity Lodge #18. Survivors are: his wife, Betty M. Gordon of the home; three sons, Edward Gordon and Walter Stuckey, both of Hemingway; and Alfred Gordon of Pamplico; one daughter, Charlene Cooper of Philadelphia, PA; four step-children, the Rev. Frankie White and Leon White, both of Kingstree; Stencil White of Walterboro; and Roselyn Miller of Bronx, NY; and three sisters, Della Cook and Lula Rodgers, both of Brooklyn, NY; and Mary Cooper of Hemingway.
ARTHUR COUSAR -- Funeral services for Arthur Lee Cousar were held Fri., March 16, 2001, at William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Terrence L. Washington. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Cousar died March 10, 2001, at his residence. He was born October 17, 1942, in Kingstree, the son of the late Joe White, Sr. and Elease McBride White. He was reared by George and Hattie Preston Cousar. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Joyce Jones-Cousar of Kingstree; three children, George Leroy Cousar of Gulf Port, MS; Corey Cousar of Kingstree; and Heather N. Cousar of Newberry; three brothers, Joe White, Jr. of Andrews; Freddie White of Tampa, FL; and John White of Lexington; three sisters, Louise Cunningham of Kingstree; Mrs. Mammie Williams of Manning; and Mrs. Mary Lane of Andrews; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Pearlie Jones of Kingstree.
