Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com DORTHERINE McCRAY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Dortherine Epps McCray "Doe" were held Sun., April 1, 2001, at Pentecost Evangelist Outreach Center in Kingstree, conducted by Bishop J. Bernard McCray and Elder Samuel Fulmore, Jr. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mrs. McCray died Wed., March 28, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born May 12, 1946, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Cecil and Delphine Cooper Epps. She was a 1964 graduate of Tomlinson High School. She was employed at Warsaw Manufacturing and Oxfords of Kingstree. She was a member of New St. Mark Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was married to the late James Lee "Jimmy" McCray. Survivors are: one son, Bishop J. Bernard McCray of Kingstree; one daughter, Sabrina McCray of the home; and six sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Epps, Mrs. Sarah Mouzon, Mrs. Mattie Keels, Mrs. Virginia Shaw and Victoria Epps, all of Kingstree; and Meldred Epps of Denmark, SC.
ANNIE McKNIGHT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Redden McKnight were held Wed., April 4, 2001, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City, conducted by the Rev. Franklin R. Garrett. Burial followed at State Cemetery in Lake City directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McKnight, 81, died Fri., March 30, 2001, at her residence in Lake City. She was born May 22, 1920, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Multrie Redden and Mammie Brockington Redden. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was former President of Zeta Phi Beta Amicae, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and organized the Charismatic Christmas Savings Club. She was a member of Good Hope O.E.S. Chapter #269. Survivors are: one son, Kenneth Leon McKnight of Lake City; three daughters, Minister Deborah Patterson of Durham, NC; Mrs. Madeline Ilardi of New Jersey; and Mrs. Gloria Burgess of Lake City; and two brothers, Multrie Redden and Willard Redden, both of New York, NY.
VIOLA DUNMORE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Dunmore were held Sat., April 7, 2001, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Jack Dais and the Rev. Jerome Wilson. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunmore, 96, died Tues., April 3, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. She was born Dec. 25, 1904, in Lane, a daughter of the late Danal Cooper and Melvinia Cooper. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church, where she served the Women Missionary Society for 32 years. Survivors are: two sons, Herbert Dunmore of Spartanburg; and Willie Dunmore of Thomasville, NC; and three daughters, Sadie Joyner and Alifair Roberts, both of Lane; and Ida Dingle of St. Stephen.
OTIS GRAY -- Funeral services for Otis Gray were held Sat., April 7, 2001, at Elijah United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Brown. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Gray, 92, died Mon., April 2, 2001, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Kingstree. He was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church. Survivors are: four sons, James Kelly Gray and Willie Clarence Gray, both of Winston Salem, NC; Theodore Roosevelt Gray and Leroy Gray, both of Miami, FL; four daughters, Nancy Mae Wright of Richmond, VA; Mildred Hunter and Sadie Viola Gray, both of Bronx, NY; and Mary Alice Seabrooks of Queens, NY; three brothers, Levi Gray of Lake City; Fred Gray of Norfolk, VA; and Walter Gray of Charleston; and one sister, Jane Thomas of Kingstree.
DELLA DUKES -- Funeral services for Mrs. Della Mae Nesmith Dukes were held Tues., April 10, 2001, at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Leroy Fred. Burial followed at the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Dukes died Thurs., April 5, 2001, in Andrews. She was born April 15, 1913, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Ravnell Nesmith and Mary Jane Dicker. She was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church. She was a former member of the Home Charity Lodge. Survivors are: nine children, Mrs. Shirley Jones, Alberta Washington, James Dukes, Curtis Dukes of Kingstree; Georgia Shaw of Rochester, NY; Thomsena Laurent of Mt. Vernon, NY; Ruth Gibson, Lillie Nesmith and Jannie D. Snow, all of Andrews.
AUDREY FRYAR -- Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Baylor Fryar were held April 19, 2001, at Kingstree Second Baptist Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by James A. McAlister Funeral Home. Mrs. Fryar, 68, died April 15, 2001, in a Charleston hospital. She was born March 26, 1933, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Edward Louis Baylor and Jesse Baylor. She was a homemaker and a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church. Survivors are: two daughters, Sandra A. Ballard and Wanda L. Bearden, both of Charleston; one sister, Doris Lindsey of Charleston; and one brother, Atwood Baylor of Kingstree.
WADE ALTMAN -- Wade Hampton Altman, 14, of Maryville, died April 16, 2001, at MUSC in Charleston. Funeral services were held April 11, 2001, at the Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Cox, the Rev. David Coker and the Rev. Phillip McCart. Burial followed at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Mr. Altman was born Sept. 18, 1986, in Georgetown County, a son of Martin Linwood Altman, III, and Lisa Blakely Altman. He was a freshman at Georgetown High School where he was a member of the Navy Junior R.O.T.C., the R.O.T.C. Chorus, the R.O.T.C. Rifle Team, the Academic Team and the high school drama team. He was a member of the Georgetown County Project B.E.A.C.H. Singers, the Screven Baptist Church Youth Group and the Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church and their teen Sunday school class. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Georgetown, are: one sister, Blakely R. Altman of Georgetown; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Barrineau Altman of Georgetown; and his maternal grandparents, George and Argerine Blakely of Georgetown.
DOROTHY CAIN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy "Tabby" Camp Cain were held April 20, 2001, at the House of God No. 1 Holiness Church in Lake City, conducted by Bishop Amos Major and the Rev. Wendell Cain. Burial followed at White Oak Cemetery in Lake City. Mrs. Cain, 63, died April 13, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Cades, a daughter of the late Willie Camp, Sr. and Nancy Fulton Camp. She was a member of Wilson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church. Later she attended the House of God No. 1 Holiness Church. Survivors are: her husband, Willie James Cain, Sr. of Lake City; five sons, Samuel Cain of Bishopville; Willie James Cain, Jr. of Kingstree; the Rev. Wendell Cain, Alphonso L. Cain and Alpheus R. Cain, all of Gastonia, NC; four daughters, Linda Cain of Columbia; Nancy L. Cain of Gastonia, NC; Barbara A. Cain of Scranton; and Shanette Cain of the home; four brothers, Marion Camp of Kingstree; Joe McClary of Lake City; Roger Major of Alaska; and Willie Camp of Florence; nine sisters, Mrs. Willie Dean Meadows of Nashville, TN; Mrs. Ruth Miller and Mrs. Josephine Tisdale, both of Kingstree; Mrs. Gail Sessions, Mrs. Stella Grady, Mrs. Judy Singletary, Mrs. Lillie Ann Cooper and Carolyn Burgess, all of Lake City; and her step-mother, Mrs. Lillie Bell Camp of Lake City.
HEYWARD FULTON -- Funeral services for Heyward Charles Fulton were held April 23, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson. Mr. Fulton, 83, died April 17, 2001, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. He was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late James and Beatrice Hollaway Fulton. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Patricia A. Fulton of Willingboro, NJ; five sons, Richard L. Fulton of Huntsville, AL; Earnest L. Fulton of Garner, NC; Herman E. Fulton of New York City, NY; Alvin L. Fulton of Atlanta, GA; and Dwayne O. Fulton of Augusta, GA; one brother, Fred Fulton of Laurelton, NY; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith F. Barr of Charleston; and Ometta F. King of Phil., PA.
JAMES EPPS -- Funeral services for James Edward Epps were held Mon., April 16, 2001, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Jack Dias. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Epps, 48, died Wed., April 11, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was born Sept. 17, 1952, in Lane, a son of Dorothy Mae Epps Benbow and the late James Wilson. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Lane, are: his father, Horace Benbow of Lanes; two brothers, Ernest Benbow of Ft. Myers, FL; and Herman Benbow of Lane; and one sister, Shirley Epps of Lane.
