Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com RENA FULTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rena Victoria White Fulton were held Fri., April 20, 2001, at Goodwill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Bennett. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers. Mrs. Fulton, 97, died Sun., April 15, 2001, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was born July 17, 1903, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Thomas White and Liza White. She was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church, where she was President of Communion Services and Mother of the church. Survivors are: four sons, John Fulton of Jamaica, NJ; Henry Fulton, Elijah Fulton of Brooklyn, NY; and Roosevelt Durante of New Jersey; and two daughters, Mrs. Mary Fulton of Kingstree; and Mrs. Elizabeth Fulton of Walterboro.
LUVENIA TAYLOR -- Funeral services for Mrs. Luvenia "Moodess" Croskey Taylor were held Wed., April 18, 2001, at Union Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by the Rev. Willie Bryant. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Taylor died April 13, 2001, at Clarendon County Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was born July 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Jeff Croskey, Sr. and Mary McClary Croskey. She was the widow of Buster Taylor. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Mary Gamble of Salters; and two sons, Willie Hannah of Philadelphia, PA; and Adam Hamlet of Salters.
FRANCIS TISDALE -- Funeral services for Francis "Son" Tisdale were held Sat., April 21, 2001, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Frank James. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Tisdale, 73, died Mon., April 16, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Andy Tisdale and Daisy Gamble Tisdale. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two sons, Frank Tisdale of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Charles Tisdale of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. Francis Runell Tisdale of Nesmith; and Michelle Tisdale of Florida; one brother, John "J. D." Tisdale of Charleston; and two sisters, Mrs. Almateen Williams of Kingstree; and Mrs. Meleonese Barr of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
MICHAEL KENNEDY -- Funeral services for Michael Dwain Kennedy were held Tues., April 24, 2001, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Keels Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Kennedy, 38, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was born April 17, 1963, in Stroudsburg, PA, a son of Thelma Marie Murrell Kennedy and James Kennedy, Jr. He was a graduate of Westwood High School and Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Atlanta, GA, are: one brother, Darryl Kennedy of Roswell, GA; two sisters, Cynthia Kennedy and Regina Kennedy, both of Douglasville, GA; and his grandparents, Anna Kennedy and James Kennedy, Sr., both of Greeleyville.
LILLIE COOPER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae "Kitty" Pressley Cooper were held Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Elijah United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Brown. Burial followed at the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Cooper, 75, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born March 27, 1926, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late James Cooper and Cornelia McCullough Cooper. She was married to the late Robert Ellison Cooper. For several years, she was employed as a machine operator for Warsaw Manufacturing. She later was employed as a cook at the King's Tree Inn. She was a member of Elijah United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two sons, James R. Cooper of Nesmith; and Levern Cooper of Kingstree; four daughters, Mrs. Mamie Washington of Forest-ville, MD; Mrs. Roberta Brown of Kingstree; Mrs. Senetta Cunningham of Florence; and Mrs. Joyce McFadden of the home; one adopted daughter, Mrs. Rosa Lee Epps of Kingstree; one step-daughter, Mamie Ann Williams of Kingstree; six sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Harden of Orange, NJ; Mrs. Wilhemina McCullough and Mrs. Ruth Atkins, both of Hartford, CT; Mrs. Liza Miller of Las Vegas, NV; Mrs. Queen Pressley of Nesmith; and Mrs. Janie Burgess of Cades; and five brothers, James Cooper, Jr. of Nesmith; Roosevelt Cooper, Will G. Cooper and Clifton Cooper, all of Hartford, CT; and Robert Cooper of Omaha, NE.
JIMMIE BAKER -- Jimmie Owens Baker, 78, wife of Glenn H. Baker, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Baker was born in Andrews, a daughter of the late Walter Hazard Owens, Sr. and Beulah Avant Owens. She was a graduate of Andrews High School and a homemaker. She was a Presbyterian. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Florence, are: two sons, John Baker of Vienna, W VA; and Chuck Baker of Beckley, W VA; one daughter, Glenda B. Taylor of Rockville, MD; and two sisters, Ruby McKenzie of Lake City; and Edna Rowe of Georgetown.
NOELIA CARREON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Noelia Govea Carreon were held Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel in Kingstree. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mrs. Carreon, 46, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at her residence in Greeleyville. She was born Sept. 29, 1954, in Weslaco, TX, a daughter of Felicitas Gonzalez Govea and the late Noe Govea. She graduated from Pan America University in Edinburg, TX. She was a former employee of the Williamsburg County School District. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Weslaco, TX, are: Jesus Carreon, Sr. of the home; two sons, Noe Miguel Carreon and Jesus ³Jessie² Carreon, Jr., both of the home; two brothers, Noel Govea and Armando Govea, both of Weslaco, TX.
MILDRED STRONG -- Funeral services for Mildred Almeta Edwards Strong were held Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Siloam Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial followed at Old St. James Presbyterian Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. Strong, 78, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. She was born March 6, 1923, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late William Strong and Eugenia Wilson. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. She was the 1994 Mother of the Year. She was employed at Oxford Manufacturing. Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Etta Scott and Mrs. Vinetta Bufkin, both of Kingtree; three grandchildren she reared as her own, Lenora Wilson, William Wilson and Johnny Wilson, Sr., all of Temple Hill, MD; surrogate daughter, Mrs. Ruth George of Kingstree; and one foster son, Dickie Buckles of Hartsville.
LASHANDA HIGGINS -- Funeral services for Lashanda Higgins were held Thursday, April 12, 2001, at North Kingstree Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Standy McCrea. Burial followed at Crossroad Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Miss Higgins, 16, died Friday April 6, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born April 15, 1984, in Florence, a daughter of Cynthia J. Miller Higgins and James Higgins. She was a student at Kingstree Senior High School and a member of the ROTC. She was a member of North Kingstree Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her parents of Kingstree, are: three sisters, Latretta Shanel Miller of Kingstree; Kimberly Miller of Turbeville; and Alexis Grayson of Greensboro, NC; her grandparents, Gloria Burgess and Herbert Burgess of Kingstree and Theodore and Tyese Miller of North Charleston.
JAMES EPPS -- Funeral services for James Edward Epps were held Monday, April 16, 2001, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Lane, conducted by the Rev. Jack Dias. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Epps, 48, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was born September 17, 1952, in Lane, a son of the late James Wilson and Dorothy Mae Epps Benbow. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Lane, are: two brothers, Ernest Benbow of Ft. Myers, FL; and Herman Benbow of Lane; and one sister, Shirley Epps of Lane.
