Burial followed at Rockyford Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Myers, 45, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born April 29, 1956, in Greeleyville, a son of Mrs. Alice Cooper Myers and the late Edgar Leroy Myers. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Salters, are: his wife, Mrs. Edna Myers of Kingstree; two sons, Alkirt McKnight of Salters; and Anthony McKnight of Houston, TX; three brothers, William Leroy Myers, Billy Levern Myers and Rodney Lamont Myers, all of Salters; four sisters, Mrs. Casteen White and Mrs. Annie Mae Gibson, both of Salters; Daisy Myers of Brooklyn, NY; and Emily Williams of Effington, NC; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sula McKnight of Kingstree.
ERNEST DRIGGERS -- Ernest T. "Billy" Driggers, 77, died Wed., May 23, 2001, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Driggers were held Sat., May 26, 2001, at Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Mr. Driggers was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Arthur W. and Mary Jane Godwin Driggers. He was a carpenter and partner with J. V. Epps Construction. He was a member of Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church, the V.F.W. and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Roberta Matthews Driggers of Cades; two sons, Richard Driggers of Cades; and Guerry Driggers of Bishopville; one sister, Ledell Pierce of Cades; and two brothers, Willie C. Driggers of Florence and James A. Driggers of Cades.
JA'TOR HIGGINS Graveside services for infant Ja'tor Higgins were held Tues., May 22, 2001, at Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. B. L. Green. Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home was in charge. Infant Higgins died May 16, 2001, at Palmetto-Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia. Higgins was born January 2001, in Clarendon County, a son of Betty Ann Higgins and the late Tontor York, Sr. Survivors, in addition to his mother of the home, are: two brothers, Torey T. Higgins of the home; and Jermaine York of Kingstree; one sister, Tontoria L. York of Kingstree; his maternal grandparents, Betty Ann Higgins of Kingstree; and Richard Pressley of New Zion; and his paternal grandparents, Sandra Ann Merritt of Kingstree; and Larry White of Brooklyn, NY.
STERRICK WRIGHT, SR. -- Funeral services for the Rev. Sterrick Wright, Sr. were held Wed., May 23, 2001, at St. John A.M.E. Church in Trio, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Henryhand and Bishop Cardell Wright. Burial followed at Bennett Cemetery in Trio directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. The Rev. Wright, 85, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Roper Hospital in Charleston. He was born June 7, 1915, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Mac Wright and Eugenia Morris Wright Dukes. He was a member of Greater St. John A.M.E. Church, where he was one of the Founders of the church. He also served as an Associate Pastor. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Queen Wright of Trio; six sons, Solomon Wright of Philadelphia, PA; William James Wright of Bronx, NY; Sterrick Wright, Jr., Mack H. Wright, Sr. and King L. Wright, all of Trio; and Cleveland Wright of Andrews; six daughters, Evangelist Marva J. Cherry of Trio; Mrs. Yerly M. Washington-Sharrell and Mrs. Anglela W. Forney, both of Charlotte, NC; Mrs. Priscilla W. Williams of Andrews; Mrs. Queen W. Evans of Kingstree; and Mrs. Barbara Ann Wright-Bruce of Darlington; two brothers, Mackey Wright of Durham, NC; and Norwood Wright of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth W. Johnson Lawrence of Durham, NC.
MARY McGILL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Genell Mickens McGill were held May 3, 2001, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Johnsonville, conducted by the Rev. Barney Heyward and the Rev. W. L. Thompson. Burial followed at Eaddy Ford Cemetery in Johnsonville. Mrs. McGill, 83, died April 28, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Congree, SC, a daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Mary Taylor Mickens. She was a member of Sunbeam Chapter No. 224, Order of the Eastern Star, a farmer and housewife. She was married to the late Marche McGill. Survivors are: six daughters, Mrs. Frances A. Cooper-Scott, Mrs. Josephine Elekanawo and Viola M. Frazier, all of Kingstree; Mrs. Barbara M. Douglas of Paterson, NJ; Mrs. Ruby M. Bullard of Taylors, SC; and Mrs. Mildred M. Wilson of Rochester, NY; two god daughters, Mrs. Janette M. Green of Florence; and Mrs. Mary A. M. Yaughan of Washington, DC; and one god son, Ceasar McGill of Kingstree.
SAM TISDALE -- Funeral services for Sam Tisdale were held May 5, 2001, at New Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Dr. Herman Gibson. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Tisdale, 70, died May 1, 2001, at Ron McNair Nursing Home in Lake City. He was born July 22, 1930, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Wilken Tisdale and Nancy Scott. He was a self-employed landscaper. Survivors are: two daughters, Gertie Tisdale of Holly Hill, SC; and Angela Johnson of Kingstree; one brother, Theodore Tisdale of Greeleyville; and one sister, Blanche Pressley of Kingstree.
THOMAS EPPS, SR. -- Funeral services for Thomas Edwin Epps, Sr., 79, were held Sun., May 6, 2001, at Lugoff First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Greg Sweet and the Rev. Kenneth Spain. Mr. Epps died Thurs., May 3, 2001. Born in Kingstree, he was the son of the late William Booth and Ruth Phillips Epps. He was retired from E. I. duPont after 32 years, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Miriam Smith Epps; two sons, Dr. Thomas E. Epps, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; and Timothy William Epps of Blythewood, SC; and one brother, W. B. Epps, Jr. of Kingstree.
ROBERT FERGUSON, JR. -- Funeral services for Robert "Kever" Ferguson, Jr. were held Tues., May 8, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Ferguson, 61, formerly of Kingstree, died Tues., May 1, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Cross, SC, a son of the late Robert Ferguson, Sr. and Annie Lee Collins Ferguson. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mattie Mae Ferguson of the home; one son, Michael Benbow of Philadelphia, PA; one step-son, Larry Duncan of Lake City; one brother, Frank Ferguson of Kingstree; and seven sisters, Mrs. Annie Belle Montgomery and Mrs. Mary Gamble, both of Greeleyville; Robertsena Ferguson, Mrs. Annie Mae Burgess, Betty Lou Ferguson, Mrs. Sarah Washington and Rosa Mae Ferguson, all of Kingstree.
MARY GOODMAN -- Funeral services for Mary Sue Goodman were held May 7, at Sandridge Believers Holiness Church in Kingstree, conducted by Elder Carl Williams. Burial followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Ms. Goodman, 68, died Thurs., May 3, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Lake City. She was born July 11, 1932, in Sumter County, a daughter of Genieve Fullard Goodman and the late Robert Goodman. Survivors are: one son, Jerry Brayboy of Cocoa, FL; four daughters, Joann Boards and Wessie Mae Matterson, both of Kingstree; Deloris Brayboy of Baltimore, MD; Blondell Goodman of Myrtle Beach; a granddaughter, she reared as her own, Ashley Goodman of Myrtle Beach; one brother, Robert Goodman of Sumter; and one sister, Azalee Goodman of Queensville, NY.
ROBBIE HANNAH -- Funeral services for Robbie Hannah were held Monday, May 7, 2001, at Wilson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church in Kingstree. Mr. Hannah, 81, died May 1, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital, Kingstree. He was born April 20, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Samuel and Lillie Thomas Hannah. He was married to the late Mrs. Carrien Gamble Hannah. Survivors are: his children, Bessie Green of Warminister, PA; Sarah Pinckney and Elder Robert Hannah of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Linda Gail McKnight of Springfield, MA; Mrs. Juanita Wilson of Florence; Billy Hannah of San Antonio, TX; Mrs. Betty Brown and Mrs. Mary Cooper, both of Columbia; Nathaniel Hannah of Lake City; John Hannah of Greeleyville; Larry Hannah and Pamela Hannah of Kingstree; and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Graham of Brooklyn, NY; and Mrs. Ida Salters of Lake City.
