Shelly Hickson, Mon., Sept. 10, 2001, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Olanta. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the New McFadden Cemetery in Olanta. Mrs. Wilson, 72, widow of the late Deleon Wilson, died Wed., Sept. 5, 2001, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Dec. 30, 1929, in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late Howard and Annie Mae Brand Readon. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. She was married to the late Deleon Wilson. Survivors are: one son, Arthur Wilson of Lake City; two daughters, Barbara Ann Boatwright and Julia Wilson, both of Brooklyn, NY; and three brothers, Clyde Readon, Alphonsa Readon and Irvin Readon, all of Miami, FL.
JOHN ZELINSKI -- Funeral services for John Zelinski were held Thurs., Sept. 6, 2001, at McClary's Funeral Home Chapel of Columbia. Burial, directed by McClary¹s Funeral Home, followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Zelinski, a veteran of the US Navy, died Sept. 1, 2001, at Dorn V.A. Medical Center in Columbia. He was born May 5, 1929, in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Edward and Mary Zelinski. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Amy Ormsbee of Eastover, SC; one son, John Stark of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Mrs. Mary Naplachowski of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Edward Zelinski of Baltimore, MD.
INEZ GRAHAM -- Mrs. Inez Kinder Graham, 65, wife of J. Linton Graham, died Sun., Sept. 9, 2001, at her residence after an illness. Funeral services were held Tues., Sept. 11, 2001, in Gilead Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Graham was born in the Hebron Community, a daughter of the late Edward Lamar and Bernice Coker Kinder. She was a graduate of Hebron High School and was employed by Hebron Apparel. She was a member of Gilead Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors are: her husband, J. Linton Graham of Cades; one daughter, Nancy Graham Lynch of Cades; one sister, Clara K. McCutcheon of Scranton; one brother Donald Y. Kinder of Cades; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild She was predeceased by one son, Jackson Graham.
JESSE RIGBY -- Jesse N. Rigby, 72, died Tues., Sept. 11, 2001, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Burial services, directed by Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, were private. Mr. Rigby was born in Kingstree on Dec. 1, 1928, a son of the late Alphonso James Rigby and Sara Nunnally Rigby. Survivors are: his wife, Rebecca Keleher Rigby; three sons, Gregory Rigby; Michael Rigby and Joseph Rigby; two daughters, Bredonne Huston; and Margaret Demer; and two brothers, A.J. Rigby of Litchfield; and George Rigby of Dayton, OH.
DORIS FULLER -- Mrs. Doris Crews Fuller, 93, died Tues., Sept. 11, 2001, at Northwood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside funeral services, directed by Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, were held Fri., Sept. 14, 2001, at Maplewood Cemetery. Mrs. Fuller was the daughter of the late Samuel Fletcher and Elizabeth Burroughs Crews. She was born in Vance County. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Surviving is one daughter, Ann Fuller Johnson of Hillsborough.
MAUDE WILLIAMSON -- Maude Buddin Williamson, 96, widow of Albert Otis Williamson, died Wed., Sept. 12, 2001, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Larry Rodeffer and the Rev. Needham R. Williamson, were held Sat., Sept. 15, 2001, at Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Williamson Cemetery. Mrs. Williamson was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Charlton Arial and Ellen Irene Coker Buddin. Educated in the public schools of Hebron, Darlington and Lake City, she attended Winthrop College and taught in the Mt. Vernon Community until her marriage. She later became supervisor of the lunch program for Kingstree schools. She was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. Survivors are: three sons, Jack Williamson of Kingstree; the Rev. Needham R. Williamson of Lancaster; and Dr. H. Oliver Williamson of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mary Ellen Sprawls of Florence; and two sisters, Inez B. Gardner of Kingstree; and Olean B. Holmes of North Myrtle Beach.
LELAND STARLING -- Funeral services for Leland Henry Starling, conducted by the Rev. Willie Bryant, were held Mon., Sept. 18, 2001, at Union Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Cowhead Cemetery. Mr. Starling, 88, died Thurs., Sept. 13, 2001, at a hospital in Manning. He was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Salters, a son of the late Malachi Starling and Rosa Lee Staggers Starling. He was employed by CSX Railroad and was a member of Union Baptist Church, Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Addie Wright Starling; four sons, Charlie Starling of Salters; Frank Starling of Lane; Willie Starling of Turbeville; and William Starling of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Martha Moore of Salters; one brother, J.D. Starling of Salters; and one sister, Judy McDonald of Rocky Mt., NC.
A.J. SINGLETARY -- Funeral services for A.J. Singletary, conducted by the Rev. Robert Poinsett, were held Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the church's cemetery. Mr. Singletary, 68, died Fri., September 7, 2001, in Williamsburg County Hospital. He was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Kingstree, a son of the late James Singletary and Lirline McCollough Singletary. He worked for the public school system in Washington DC until his retirement in 1978. He later was employed by the Williamsburg County School District. He was a member of the Original Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Lula Lee Levine Singletary of the home; one son, Leroy J. Singletary of Kingstree; two daughters, Mrs. Alice D. McNeil and Mrs. Sadie L. Singletary, both of Kingstree; two brothers, Samuel Singletary of Springfield, OH; and Charlie Singletary of Kingstree; and eight sisters, Mrs. Jimmie Salters and Mrs. Pearl Smokes, both of New Haven, CT; Mrs. Janie Davis of Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Mary Woodward of Oxon Hill, MD; Mrs. Margaret Lambert and Mrs. Lottie Dukes, both of Washington, DC; Mrs. Mel Burrows and Mrs. Eula Wallace, both of Kingstree.
ALEXANDER BARR -- Funeral services for Alexander "Slim" Barr, conducted by the Rev. Michael McMillian, were held September 18, 2001, at the Believers Holiness Convention Center in Coward. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Sandhill Memorial Park in Lake City. Mr. Barr, 54, died Thursday, September 13, 2001, at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. He was born September 25, 1945, in Marion County, a son of Mrs. Louiser Cooper Barr and the late Nathan "Honey" Barr. He was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. He worked for 25 years at Coke A Cola of Miami, FL. After returning to Florence, he opened his own business A J and C Auto. He later moved to Myrtle Beach and became employed at Highway 90 Parts and Sales. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Florence, are: three sons, Alexander Anderson and Johnathan Anderson, both of Florence; and Malik Davis of Pamplico; one daughter, Chinesta Anderson of Pamplico; one brother, Robert Lee Barr of Myrtle Beach; and two sisters, Rennie Mae Barr and Mrs. Vickie Eaddy, both of Florence.
THELMA HIGBE -- Thelma Putnam Higbe, 88, widow of Robert F. Higbe, Sr., died Sunday, September 16, 2001, at Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg. Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Billy Ray Osborne, and directed by Kennedy Mortuary, were held Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at Laurens City Cemetery. A native of Laurens, Mrs. Higbe was a daughter of the late Eugene H. and Amy Jamieson Putnam. She was a homemaker and was a Methodist. Survivors are: one son, Robert F. Higbe, Jr., of Andrews; one daughter, Jamie Fulton of Andrews; and one sister, Hilda P. Stapleton of Spartanburg.
