RUDINE WILLIAMS -- Rudine Holmes Williams, 63, died Saturday, September 15, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Thurs., Sept. 20, 2001, at New Ebenezer Baptist Church with an Obsequies at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Tifton, GA on Sat., Sept. 22. Burial, directed by Smith Funeral Home, Inc., and Nixon Funeral Home, followed at Tift Memorial Gardens in Tifton, GA. Mrs. Williams was born August 28, 1938, in Tifton, GA, to the late Ethel Lou Cobb Holmes and the Rev. Pleaman Lee Holmes. She was a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Newark Teachers' Bowling League and Les Femmes. Survivors are: her husband, Johnny Williams of Florence; two daughters, Attorney El-Rhonda Williams Alston of Burlington, NJ, and Mrs. La-Dine Williams Gamble of Greeleyville; six sisters, Helen Adkins of Silver Spring, MD; Bertha Blanchard of Columbus, GA; Nadine Pittman, NY, NY; the Rev. Mildred Denson, Macon, GA; Alnita Foster of Springfield, MA; and Naomi Washington of Rahway, NJ; and three brothers, Machael Holmes, Nathaniel Holmes and Larry Holmes, all of Miami, FL.

EMORY LANE, SR. -- Emory Neil Lane, Sr., 63, died Monday, September 17, 2001, at a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 20, 2001, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Lane was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Joseph Eston and Sadie Duke Lane. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church and was employed by Carolina Supply House. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Survivors are: his wife, Rudy Richburg Lane of Florence; one son, Emory Neil Lane, Jr., of Darlington; one daughter, Connie Lane Driggers of Florence; two brothers, J.E. Lane, Jr. and Lloyd R. Lane, both of Kingstree; and three sisters, Carolyn L. McConnell and Grace L. Robinson, both of Kingstree; and Miriam L. McCain of Effingham.

MARY FULTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Mack Fulton, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson, were held Saturday, September 21, 2001, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Fulton, 70, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at her residence in Kingstree. She was born Feburary 1, 1931, in Clarendon County, a daughter of Mrs. Minnie Caldwell Mack and the late Dean Mack, Sr. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Charlie Fulton, Jr. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Manning, are: two sons, David Lee Fulton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Bernard Fulton of Kingstree; four daughters, Barbara Ann Fulton and Nancy Fulton, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mrs. Carolyn Pompey of Greeleyville; and Mary Ann Fulton of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Boman of Manning; and Mrs. Helen James of Summerton; one brother, Dean Mack, Jr. of Manning; and one adopted daughter, Ruth Burrows of Kingstree.

CHRISTINE CHANDLER -- Funeral services for Christine Chandler, conducted by Bishop J. Bernard McCray, were held Sat., Sept. 15, 2001, at Pentecost Evangelistic Outreach Center in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Ms. Chandler died Sun. Sept. 9, 2001. She was born March 25, 1939, in Williamsburg County to the late Orlee Chandler and Tommy Shaw. Survivors are: one daughter, Lillie Mae Rouse of the home; one son, Terry Chandler of Kingstree; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Murphy and Mrs. Flossie Mae Scott, both of Kingstree; and two brothers, Eugene Chandler and Thomas Shaw, both of Kingstree.

BERNARD McFADDEN -- Funeral services for Bernard Laverne McFadden, conducted by Elder Joseph Woods, were held Sat., Sept. 22, 2001. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, was at Wallace McFadden Cemetery. Mr. McFadden, 54, died Saturday., September 15, 2001, at MUSC in Charleston. He was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Hazel Elaine Wallace and the late Edward John McFadden. He was a 1965 graduate of Tomlinson High School. He was formerly employed with the State of New York Transit Authority. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Holiness Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: one son, Kenneth McFadden of Lynn, MA; one daughter, S. Shamane McFadden of Orlando, FL; his step-father, Marion D. Mouzon of Kingstree; four brothers, William E. McFadden of Lynn, MA; Hamlet B. McFadden and Nick T. McFadden, both of Kingstree; and Jerricee McFadden of Los Angeles, CA; and four sisters, Sadie C. McCloud of Kingstree; Daytona Hill of Charlotte, NC; Diana Canty of Columbia and A. Amanda Bishop of New Brunswick, NJ.

JOHN BURROUGHS -- John William (Buddy) Burroughs, 63, died Friday, September 21, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services were held Sun., Sept. 23, 2001, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burroughs was born in Marion, a son of Mrs. Maggie Hughes Burroughs and the late William R. Burroughs. He was a graduate of Andrews High School and a retired bridge supervisor for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a Baptist. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Georgetown, are: one daughter, Linda Thompson of Kingstree; four sons, Joey Burroughs of Murrells Inlet; Johnny Burroughs, Timmy Burroughs and Scottie Burroughs, all of Kingstree; one sister, Mary B. Skipper of Andrews; and one adopted brother, Richard Casselman of Andrews.

DOROTHY BRADLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Lee Tisdale Bradley, widow of the late Willie T. Bradley, were conducted by the Rev. Samuel B. Cooper, Fri., Sept. 21, 2001, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary AME Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bradley died Sun., Sept. 16, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. She was born June 25, 1921, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Adam and Maggie Brown Tisdale. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was a dietitian at Lane Headstart Center in Lane. Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Annie Daily and Mrs. Emma Scott, both of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Willie Mae Murphy of Silver Springs, MD; and Mrs. Deloris Dotson of Southfield, MI; and one adopted daughter, Jodell Scott of Philadelphia, PA.

NATHANIEL HARDEN -- Funeral services for Nathaniel Harden, conducted by the Rev. Elder B. Holmes, were held Sun., Sept. 23, 2001, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Harden died Thurs., Sept. 19, 2001, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Williamsburg County, a son of Mrs. Louise Steward Harden and the late Deacon Alex Harden. Survivors, in addition to his mother of the home, are: three daughters, Fredrecker Shaw of Columbia; Mrs. Janice Brown Manning of Fayetteville, NC; and Mrs. Gina Trobel of Staten Island, NY; two brothers, Nathan Harden of Brooklyn, NY; and Walter R. Harden of Lilesville, NC; and one sister, Brenda J. Harden of Lane.

GILBERT EVANS -- Gilbert Wesley Evans, 82, widower of Lois Cantey Evans, died Thurs., Sept. 27, 2001, at Mariner East in Sumter. Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Rodney A. Foster, were held Sat., Sept. 29, 2001, at Midway Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Stephens Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Born July 10, 1919, in New Zion, he was a son of the late James Wesley Evans and the late Ettalene Duke Evans. He was a retired farmer and a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. Survivors are: one son, Leslie G. Evans of W. Columbia; two daughters, Jean E. Robinson and Linda E. Swain of New Zion; one brother, Carl Evans of New Zion; and one sister, Ettalene McKenzie of New Zion.

GERALDINE WELCH -- Mrs. Geraldine M. "Geri" Welch, 47, wife of W. Legrand Welch, died Tues., Sept. 25, 2001, at her residence. Funeral services were held Thurs., Sept. 27, 2001, at Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed at Sandy Bay Cemetery. Mrs. Welch was born in Kingstree, a daughter of Pansy Hodge McCutcheon and the late Larry McCutcheon. She was a homemaker and member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Kingstree, are: her husband, W. Legrand Welch of Kingstree; two step-daughters, Paula W. Boatwright and Gwen W. Collins, both of Florence; one step-son, W. Legrand "Lee" Welch, II, of Florence; one brother, Wayne McCutcheon of Lake City; one sister, Brenda M. Isgett of Kingstree; and her grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Hodge of Kingstree.
