Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com MCBRIDE -- Funeral services for Ernest McBride were held Saturday, October 25, 1997, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Dr. Charles C. McLamore. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. McBride, 70, died at his residence in Kingstree. He was born April 29, 1927, in Williamsburg County, the son of the late Alfred and Zipsar Montgomery McBride. He was a member of Progressive Church of Jesus. He was employed by T.R. Owens Company as a chain link fence installer for a number of years. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Sadie L. McBride of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Ericia Diane McBride of Kingstree; Ernestine McBride and Debra McBride, both of Orlando, FL; two sons, Ernest Mitchelle McBride of California; and James McBride of Kingstree; three step-children, David McFadden of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Corrina Burgess and Mrs. Peggy Young, both of Kingstree; and one sister, Mrs. Cassie Henryhand of Trio.
MOORE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Magrine Moore were held Friday, October 31, 1997, at Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Salters, conducted by Reverend Rufus Snowden. Burial followed in Jerusalem United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Moore, 81, died Monday, October 27, 1997, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. She was born April 3, 1916, in Salters, a daughter of the late Amos Scott and Mary McCray Scott. She was a farmer. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church. Survivors are: three sons, Jerome Moore, Dave Edward Moore and James Louis Moore, all of Greensboro, N.C.; seven daughters, Mrs. Audrey Faison and Mrs. Nettierene Alston, both of Greensboro, N.C.; Mrs. Edith Conyers, Mrs. Delane Moore, Mrs. Mary Richardson, Mrs. Ruby Moore and Mrs. Shirley Gamble, all of Trio; and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Morris of Andrews.
WHITE -- Funeral services for Frances White were held on Saturday, November 1, 1997, at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Andrews, conducted by Reverend Richard Hillard. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. White, 76, died Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown. She was born August 22, 1921, in Wilmington, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank White, II. She was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was a farmer. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. Survivors are: one son, Dave White of Andrews; and three step-sisters, Mrs. Lizzie McCullough and Mrs. Evas Cooper, both of Kingstree; and Mrs. Dorothy Langley of Middletown, Ct.
BROWN -- Christopher Brown, son of Fritz and Glenna Brown and grandson of Harris and Idella "Ikey" Brown died on Saturday, November 1, 1997, in Richmond, Va. as a result of an auto accident. Mrs. Ruby Hanna is the great-grandmother.
MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for O'Neal Montgomery were held Monday, October 27, 1997, at Beulah A.M.E. Church in Kingstree. Burial followed at the church's cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Montgomery died Wednesday, October 23, 1997, in the Christiana Health Care System in Newark, Delaware. He was born in Trio, a son of the late Willie Montgomery and Elizabeth Lawrence. He was a graduate of South Carolina State College and Delaware State University. He was also a retiree from the United States Air Force. After his retirement from the air force he worked as a supervisor in Delaware's Adolescent Program in Wilmington and Dover. He also taught math and science to the students. He was a former treasurer of AUMP Annual Conference, treasurer of the AUMP Trustee Board, Wilmington Chapter Anthrops, Eastern Region Anthrops and the Coronet Community Social Club. He was an executive personnel of the Conference and General Conference Boards of Trustees. He served as president of the Coronet Club, treasurer of Tenby Chase Civic Association, Board of Directors of the Newark Senior Center, and a member of the Newark Rotary Club. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a member of Star of Bethlehem AUMP Church where he served in many capacities in the church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Corina Marie Redden Montgomery; one brother, Willie Montgomery of Greensboro, N.C.; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Lerlene Redden of Sumter.
CHANDLER -- Funeral services for Sarah Frances Chandler were held Saturday, November 1, 1997, at Central Missionary Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Rev. Lorie G. Pressley. Burial followed in Rockyford Cemetery in Salters directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Chandler, 49, died Tuesday, October 29, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree. She was born July 30, 1948, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Margaret Hammond Chandler and the late Clarence Chandler. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Salters, are: three sisters, Mrs. Dianne Norris of Woodbridge, Va.; Mrs. Louise Williams of Plainfield, N.J. and Mrs. Gloria Chandler of Russellville, S.C.; six brothers, Clarence Chandler, Jr. of Capital Heights, Md.; Clinton Chandler of Durham, N.C.; Micheal Chandler of Randaltown, Md.; Clinton Chandler of Andrews; Craig Chandler of Austin, Texas; and Christopher Chandler of Woodbridge, Texas; and his grandmother, Mrs. Eva Hammond of Salters.
NELSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Hannah Nelson were held Wednesday, October 29, 1997, at St. Asia Baptist Church in Greeleyville, conducted by Rev. Amos Matthews. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Nelson, 85, died Friday, October 24 ,1997, in Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born April 12, 1912, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Cruser and Emma Hannah. She was a member of St. Asia Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, Senior Choir and the Willing Workers Auxiliary. Survivors are: two nieces reared as daughters, Mrs. Essie Tisdale of Greeleyville; and Mrs. Luelle Mack of Abingdon, Md.; and one sister, Mrs. Beulah Burgess of Salters.
WHACK -- Graveside services for Lewis Whack were held on Thursday, October 30, 1997, at Poston Cemetery in Lake City, conducted by Rev. W.L. Thompson, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Whack, 36, died Sunday, October 26, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born February 6, 1961, a son of the late Pinckney and Emma Whack. He was a graduate of Lake City High School. He was employed as a landscaper by Gardner Landscaping Company. He was a member of Mt. Claire Baptist Church. Survivors are Mrs. Geneva Whack of Charlotte, N.C. and Henry Whack of Conn.
RICHARDSON -- Funeral services for Ben Richardson were held Saturday, November 1, 1997, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Charles McLamore. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Richardson, 50, died Tues., Oct. 28, 1997, at Calvary Cancer Institute in Bronx, N.Y. He was born February 11, 1947, in Kingstree, a son of the late Rev. Ben Richardson, Jr. and Maggie Gordon Richardson. He was employed as a car assembler linesman at General Motors Auto Industry. He was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Frances Richardson of Kingstree; one son, Jerome Richardson of Kingstree; five other children, Ben Richardson, III, Ben Richard IV, Marlowe Richardson and Kevin White, all of N.Y.; four sisters, Mrs. Lucille Pendergrass of Kingstree; Mrs. Bertha Caldwell of Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. Bernice Richardson Nelson of New York; Mrs. Margaret Shaw of Kingstree; four brothers, Willie Richardson of Delaware; Sammie Richardson of Kingstree; David Richardson of New York and David Fulton of Kingstree; and his mother-in-law, Louise Chatman.
COKER -- Diana Patricia Coker, 43, died Saturday, November 8, 1997, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Graveside services were held Monday, November 10, 1997, in the Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, directed by Brockington Funeral Home. Ms. Coker was born in Columbia, the daughter of Beatrice Floyd Coker and the late Julian Elerby Coker. She was an employee of Hardee's of Lake City and a member of the Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Kingstree, are: one sister, Charlotte A. McGee of Kingstree; and one brother, David Coker of Kingstree.
