Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com LOUIS OLIVER -- Funeral services for Louis Oliver, conducted by the Rev. Malachi Gibson, were held Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Oliver died Friday, December 14, 2001, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Facility in Moncks Corner. He was born on August 19, 1949, a son of Mrs. Mattie Lee Oliver and the late Frank Oliver. He received his education in the Williamsburg County Public Schools and was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, where he served as a church trustee. Survivors, in addition to his mother of the home, are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Oliver of the home; two daughters, Tangar Greene and Jacquetta Oliver; four sisters, Leslie Ann Salters of Salters, Sadie Rhodes of Troy, NY, Sarah Oliver of Holly Hill and Jessie Lee Oliver of Troy, NY.
JACK MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for Jack Montgomery, conducted by the Rev. Albert Rose, were held on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at the Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers, followed in St. James Baptist Church cemetery in Greeleyville. Mr. Montgomery died Thursday, December 13, 2001 at Conway Memorial Hospital in Conway. He was born in Williamsburg County on August 25, 1916, a son of the late Professor David Montgomery and Mrs. Cleo Montgomery. Mr. Montgomery was educated in the Williamsburg County public school system and was employed by Woodward Golf Company in Myrtle Beach. Survivors are: two sisters, Virglee Montgomery of Danbury, CT, and Bessie Dukes of Greeleyville; and two brothers, John Henry Montgomery and Eugene Dukes, both of Greeleyville.
VERA McKENZIE -- Mrs. Vera Strickland McKenzie, 82, widow of Willie Mack McKenzie, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001, in a Lake City hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, August 24, 2001, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McKenzie was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Parrott Strickland. She was a retired clothing inspector. Survivors are: one daughter, Martha Ann McKenzie of Kingstree; and one son, Johnny McKenzie of Kingstree.
WILLIAM BLOCKER -- William Eston Blocker, 75, widower of Ethel Jewel Martin Blocker, died Friday, August 24, 2001, at his daughterıs home in Greeleyville. Funeral services will be held later in Palatka, FL. Born September 2, 1925, in Claxton, GA, he was a son of the late Dexter Clinton and Mamie Elizabeth Driggers Blocker. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Palatka, FL. Survivors are: two daughters, Faye B. Ray of Greeleyville; and Susan Huggins of Charleston; one brother, Daniel E. Blocker of Palatka, FL; and four sisters, Jewel Gilbert and Melrose Pearson of Palatka, FL; and Betty Johnson and Emma Aldridge of Blackshear, GA.
WILSON MILLER -- Funeral services for Wilson Miller, conducted by the Rev. Elder B. Holmes, were held Mon., Oct. 8, 2001, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Lane.. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, was held Tues., Oct. 9, 2001, at Florence National Cemetery. Mr. Miller, 75, died Tues., October 2, 2001. He was born April 18, 1926, in Lane, a son of the late Hammett and Rachel Boyd Miller. He was a member of St. James Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors are: three sisters, Mrs. Victoria Jenkins of Brooklyn, NY; Mrs. Elise Felder of Lane; and Mrs. Carrie Montgomery of Kingstree; two brothers, Sellers Miller of Greeleyville; and William Miller of Brooklyn, NY.
URGABRICE EADDY -- Funeral services for Urgabrice Sewell Eaddy, conducted by the Rev. Frankin Garrett, were held Sun., Sept. 30, 2001, at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at McKnight Cemetery. Mr. Eaddy, 39, died Thurs., Sept. 27, 2001, at MUSC in Charleston. He was born April 29, 1962, in Lake City, a son of Mrs. Ruth McKnight Eaddy and the late Willie Eaddy. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Lake City, are: one son, Dominique Seagars of Gainesville, GA; and one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Cameron of Lake City.
ERNEST HARVIN -- Ernest Harvin, 63, died Sat., Sept. 22, 2001, at his home. Funeral services were held Fri., Sept. 28, 2001, at the Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Kingstree Funeral Home, followed at Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Mr. Harvin was born February 24, 1938, in Lane, a son of the late David LeVan Harvin and Theo Marie Murrell Harvin. He was married to the former Minnie McRae. He was a member of Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: his companion, Midleen Webb of the home; one daughter, Cynthia Harvin Kraus of Studio City, CA; one son, James Edward Harvin of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters, Ruth Black of Columbia; Thomasena H. Barr of Philadelphia, PA; and Sabra H. Holmes of Lane; and four brothers, David L. Harvin, the Rev. Charles L. Harvin of the Bronx, NY; James Harvin of Brooklyn, NY; and Bruster Harvin of Lane.
CHARLOTTE GAMBLE -- Mrs. Charlotte "Chiya" Cooper Gamble, 80, died Mon. Oct. 1, 2001, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Williams and the Rev. Levern O. Brown, were held Sun., Oct., 7 at St. Matthew Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Salters Cemetery. Mrs. Gamble was born Aug. 21, 1921, in Salters, to the late Mrs. Lizzie Cooper Whitfield. She was the stepdaughter of the late Mr. Thomas Whitfield. She was educated in Williamsburg County Schools and was a laundry supervisor for the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, Va. Survivors are: her husband, Mr. Alex Gamble; a son, Nell Bryant, Sr. of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Salters; a grandson she reared as her own, Nell Bryant, Jr., of Charleston; an adopted daughter, Mrs. Barbara Martin Bryant of Oxen Hills, MD; a step-brother, William McFadden of Salters; and step-sisters, Mrs. Johnnnie Mae Segler of Washington, DC, and Mrs. Letha Wilson of Salters.
ERNEST BRAYBOY, JR. -- Funeral services for Ernest Brayboy, Jr., conducted by Bishop Amos Major, were held Tues., Oct. 2, 2001, at the House of God #1 Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at White Oak Cemetery. Mr. Brayboy, 42, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of Lake City, died Sat., Sept. 22, 2001, at his residence. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are: Mrs. Evelyn Diggs of Brooklyn; his wife, Mrs. Joan Brayboy of Brooklyn, NY; two daughters, Kimona and Shauntae Brayboy, both of Brooklyn, NY; his step-mother, Mrs. Clara Burgess of Lake City; four brothers, Leo Burgess of Hemingway; Purnell, Lorenzo and Leon Diggs, all of Brooklyn, NY; and three sisters, Ernestine and Linda Burgess, bothof Lake City; and Annette Diggs of Brooklyn, NY.
EVA DANIELS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Mae McCrea Daniels, conducted by the Rev. Nathaniel Evans and Overseer Robert T. Hannah, were held Fri., Oct. 5, 2001, at Faith United Methodist Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Faith United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Daniels, 71, died Fri., Sept. 28, 2001, at her residence in Lake City. She was born June 15, 1930, in Lake City, to the late Steven and Katie Cooper McCrea. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was married to the late Prince Daniels, Sr. Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Jannie Driffin of Greeleyville; Mrs. Earlene James, Mrs. Ida Salters; and Mrs. Celestine Daniels McClam, all of Lake City; three adopted daughters, Alisha McCrea, Amanda McCrea and Jacqueline McCrea of Lake City; eight sisters, Mrs. Viola Cooper and Mrs. Christine Cooper-Roan, both of Miami, FL; Mrs. Irene Hall of Kingstree; Mrs. Magalene McCrea of Winston-Salem, NC; Mrs. Everlene Hammond of Lake City; Mrs. Laura Mae McQueen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Mrs. Anna Doris Corbett of Lake Placid, FL; and Mrs. Annie Ruth Daniels of Johnsonville; four brothers, Carlisle McCrea of Miami, FL; King Solomon McCrea of Coward; Morgan McCrea of Kingstree; and Willie Louis Ervin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
