Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com CHARLIE WOODHAM -- Charlie Wade Woodham died Sat., April 27, 2002, in a Kingstree hospital. Graveside services, directed by Oakridge Funeral Home, were held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Haines City, Florida, on May 1, 2002. Mr. Woodham was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Slocomb, Alabama, a son of the late James Roy Woodham and Bonnie Kirkland Woodham. He grew up in Holmes County, Florida, and was educated in the Florida public and technical schools. Mr. Woodham was an Army veteran having served in World War II as a paratrooper in the European Theater. He was a longtime cattle rancher in Central Florida with a wide spread reputation as a horse trainer. Mr. Woodham moved to Kingstree in 2001 and loved this area. Survivors are: one daughter, Wanda Woodham of Haines City, Florida; and three sisters, Mary Jo Rayburn of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Jean W. McCabe of Kingstree; and Joyce Best of Catawba, Georgia.
JEWELL JOHNSON -- Jewell Mae Welch Johnson, 58, widow of Jeff Arthur Johnson, died Mon., April 15, 2002, at her home in Greeleyville. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Windham, were held Wed., April 17, 2002, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Burial, directed by Stephens Funeral Home, followed at Olive Grove Cemetery in Turbeville. Born May 31, 1943, in Barrineau, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of Edna Anderson Welch and the late Samuel Welch. She attended Leo Church of God. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Sardinia, are: two daughters, Rita Goins of Greeleyville; and Barbara Fields of Alabama; five brothers, Ernest Welch, Bob Welch and Ed Welch, all of Sardinia; Kenny Welch of Turbeville; and Delbert Welch of Olanta; and one sister, Linnie B. Chockley of Lake City.
COREAN CALCUTT- Corean Poston Calcutt, 94, widow of Wallace R. Calcutt, died Sun., April 14, 2002, in a Florence nursing center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Calcutt was born in Pamplico, a daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Virginia Etta Carter Poston. Mrs. Calcutt was a homemaker. She was a member of the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxillary. She attended Florence County schools. Survivors are: three sons, Frank Calcutt of Florence; Marion Calcutt of Hemingway; and Wayne Calcutt of Conway; five daughters, Jeanette Knopf of Sumter; Fay Dean Poston of Warner Robbins, Georgia; Rachel Goodwin of Columbia; Rennie Bingham of Kingstree; and Diane Rogers of Florence; and one sister, Asylee Turner of Friendfield.
ERNEAL COOPER -- Funeral services for Erneal "Winky" Cooper, conducted by Bishop L. H. Burns, were held Thurs., April 18, 2002, at Union United American Freewill Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed in the family plot at Elijah United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Cooper 46, died Sat., April 13, 2002, after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Cooper was born April 3, 1956, in Kingstree, a son of the late James and Lottie Mae Cooper McCrea. Mr. Cooper received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Union United American Freewill Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. Survivors are: his fiancée, Barbara Graham of Kingstree; three sons, Terris Conyers of Columbia; Jamie Gamble of Nesmith and Erneal Cooper, Jr., of Kingstree; one daughter, Tina Burgess of Lake City; and two brothers, Levern Cooper of Kingstree; and Franklin Chandler of Myrtle Beach.
KATHLEEN LESESNE -- Kathleen S. Lesesne, 82, of Clarkton, North Carolina, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Wesley Pines Nursing Home. Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Simon Scott and directed by Gaskins Funeral Home, were held Thursday, April 18, 2002, at New Market Cemetery in Greeleyville. Survivors are: two brothers, Lemeul A. Smith, Jr., of Clarkton, North Carolina; and Charles David Smith of Plant City, Florida.
MILDRED MISHOE -- Mildred Stoll Mishoe, 84, widow of John Rodgers Mishoe, Sr., died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Devere Williams, were held Sat., April 20, 2002, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville. Burial was directed by Stephens Funeral Home. Born April 22, 1917, Mrs. Mishoe was a daughter of the late Judge Phillip Henry Stoll and Evelyn Cunningham Stoll. She was a member of Greeleyville Methodist Church and an active member of the Sunday school program for many years. Survivors are: two sons, John Rodgers Mishoe, Jr. of Manning; and Leonard Stoll Mishoe of Charleston and Greeleyville.
KENNETH FULTON -- Funeral services for Kenneth Oneal Fulton were held Sat., April 20, 2002, at Midway Freewill Baptist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mr. Fulton died April 9, 2002, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Mr. Fulton was born in Kingstree on August 1, 1954, a son of the late Samuel Gibbes Fulton and Nettie Dorothy Barr Fulton. He attended Tomlinson High School. He was a member of The Holy Spirit Church in Miami, Florida. Survivors are: three brothers, Samuel Fulton, Joe Doward Fulton and Theron Fulton, all of Kingstree; and three sisters, Mrs. Annie Bell Shaw, and Mrs. Blondell Jones, both of Miami, Florida.; and Mrs. Hattie Fulton of Kingstree.
JANNIE DAVIS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jannie E. Davis, conducted by the Rev- erendFranklin D. Scott, were held Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Bethlehem African Methodist Episcopal Church in Hemingway. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Davis died Thurs., April 18, 2002, at Mullins Nursing Center in Mullins. Mrs. Davis was born in Hemingway on Jan. 1, 1909, a daughter of the late Ward Eaddy and Mary Eaddy. She was married to the late Waymon Davis. Survivors are: one son, Jessie James Davis of Lake City; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Graham of Fairmont, North Carolina; and one sister, Mrs. Inez Gregg of Johnsonville.
JAMES SCOTT -- Funeral services for James Scott, conducted by the Rev. Willie Wilson, were held Thurs., April 18, 2002, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Scott died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his residence in Kingstree. Mr. Scott was born in Williamsburg County on August 15, 1926, a son of the late Henry Mack Scott and Sudie Ellen Wilson Scott. He was formerly employed by Brooklyn Drummond Steel in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Scott was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Vanessa G. Mercer of Everett, Washington; two brothers, Henry Scott of Durham, North Carolina; and Joseph Scott of Manhattan, New York; and five sisters, Mrs. Hattie Abraham of Brooklyn, New York; Mrs. Clara Smith, Mrs. Naomi Moultrie and Mrs. Maragaret Washington, all of Kingstree; and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson of Bolton, North Carolina.
LULA ROUSE -- Lula Alberta Woodbury Rouse, 73, of Marion, died Mon., April 15, 2002, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born in Georgetown County, the daughter of Abram Leon Wood-bury and Bertha Thomas Wood-bury, she was a retired diaconal minister (social work) from the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Rouse was a graduate of Allen University and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Marion. Survivors are: her husband, the Rev. Bishop C. Rouse, Sr., of the home; three sons, Bishop Claude Rouse, Jr., of Danbury, Connecti-cut; Bernard Jerome Rouse, Sr., of Frederick, Maryland; and Luonne Abram Rouse of Greenville; one sister, Bess Ball of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one foster brother, Dale Barnes of the home; and her mother-in-law, Geneva Rouse of Orangeburg.
