Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com JAMES TISDALE -- Funeral services for James Tisdale, conducted by the Rev. Herman Gibson, were held Wed., Jan. 16, 2002, at Ranzie Grove Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary A.M.E. Churchyard Cemetery. Mr. Tisdale died Fri., Jan. 11, 2002, at his residence in Salters. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Sedonia Tisdale of the home; 18 children, David Tisdale of Georgetown; Otis Tisdale of Teaneck, NJ; Brontia Miller of Mullins; Bonnie Bellamy of North Myrtle Beach; Roger Green of Kingston, NY; Steven Feldman, Zeter Lonesome, Alice Watson, Donna Chelsey, James Tisdale, Tiara Tisdale, Angie Brown, Keith Roberts, Pamela Davis, Trisha Grayson, Tremmele Tisdale and Elsie Addison, all of Baltimore, MD; and Frederick Tisdale of Salters; and one sister, Mary McClary of Charlotte, NC.
MARY WOOTEN -- Mary Weinberg Wooten, widow of E. E. Wooten, Sr., died Feb. 8, 2002, in Plantation, FL, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Kingstree, the daughter of the late Lester Weinberg and Claudia Jones Weinberg. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Etta (Fred A.) Martin of Plantation, FL; one son, E. E. (Jenine) Wooten, Jr. of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter and two grandsons¹ and also cousins Frank A. Douglass, Jr., of Lake City; and Mrs. Louis J. Nexsen of Kingstree.
HAROLD MONTGOMERY -- Funeral services for Harold Jerome Montgomery, conducted by the Rev. Talbert Dickson, were held Sat., Feb. 23, 2002, at St. John Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mr. Montgomery died Sun., Feb. 17, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Charleston. He was born Sept. 25, 1951, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Walters Montgomery and Margaret Nelson Montgomery. He was a graduate of C.E. Murray High School. He was married to Laura Ann Fulmon. He was employed as a custodian at the VA Hospital in Charleston. He was a member of Promiseland Baptist Church in Charleston. He was a veteran of the US Army. Survivors are: two sons, Harold Montgomery, Jr., and Louvertis Kayonne Montgomery, both of Greenville; three daughters, Latwan Cherelle Brayboy of Lake City; Roaneickie Tabriz Mont-gomery of Greenville; and Ataya Montgomery of Scranton; and three sisters, Ineda Witherspoon of Hollandale, FL; Thelma M. Bright and Carolyn Murray, both of Kingstree.
ELLA SCOTT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Chandler Scott, conducted by the Rev. Frank James, were held Sat., Feb. 23, 2002, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Scott died Sun., Feb. 17, 2002, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingtree. She was born in Williamsburg County on August 18, 1919, a daughter of the late Anthony Chandler and Mrs. Annie Katie Tisdale. She was married to the late Jack Dempsey Scott. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Senior Choir. Surviving is one son, Charles Scott, Jr.
RUBY SHAW -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Bartelle Funny Shaw, conducted by the Rev. Frank James, were held Mon., Feb. 25, 2002, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Shaw died Thurs., Feb. 21, 2002, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. She was born in Andrews on Oct. 4, 1921, a daughter of the late Rev. John Funny and Minnie Mack. She was married to the late Alton T. Shaw. She was educated in Williamsburg County public schools. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and sang in the senior choir. Survivors are: one son, Isaiah Shaw of Kingstree; and four daughters, Mrs. Jannie Mae Brown, Mrs. Queen Keels, Mrs. Ernestine Thomas and Mrs. Norma Jackson, all of Kingstree.
WALTER POWELL -- Walter Edward Powell, 71, died Sat., Feb. 23, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services were held Mon., Feb. 25, 2002, at the Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mr. Powell was born in Cades, a son of the late David Levi and Ruby Alene Parker Powell. He was a former employee of Dixon Lumber Company and a member of the Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors are: his wife, Nettie Mae Floyd Powell of Cades; four daughters, Bueline Poston of Coward; Rosa Tedder, Vela Mae Powell, both of Cades; and Jane Locklair of Scranton; two sons, David Don Powell and Edward L. Powell, both of Cades; one brother, Robert L. Powell of Kingstree; and one sister, Ruby M. Driggers of Summerton.
LILLIE McKNIGHT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie "Sugar Lou" Adamson McKnight, conducted by the Rev. Franklin R. Garrett, were held Tues., Feb. 26, 2002, at the Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Doctor James Cemetery. Mrs. McKnight, 93, died Wed., Feb. 20, 2002, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Rev. John and Rosa Scott Adamson. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Adam ³Bunny² McKnight. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Esther Mae Robinson of East Orange, NJ; and three sons, James McKnight of Jersey City, NJ; David McKnight of East Orange, NJ; and Mannie "Tommy" McKnight of Newark, NJ.
CHARLES FRISON -- Funeral services for Charles Edward Frison, conducted by Pastor Minnie Davis, were held Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Believers Holiness Convention Center in Coward. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Savannah Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Frison, 43, died Sunday, February 24, 2002, after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Frison was born September 29, 1958, in Florence County, a son of Deacon Joseph Frison, Sr., and Allie Mae Frison. Mr. Frison graduated from J. C. Lynch High School of Coward and attended Florence-Darlington Technical College, where he received his certification in automobile mechanics. He was a member of Savannah Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He was employed by J. P. Stevens of Pamplico which later became Delta Mills. After several years there, he became a full-time farmer. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Coward, are: his companion, Betty Parker of the home; two sons, Christopher Allen of Newark, New Jersey; and Charles Everett Frison of Florence; one daughter, Felicia Rouse of Sanford, Florida; one brother, Joseph Frison, Jr. of Coward; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Matthews of Coward; one adopted brother, Ernest Frison of Coward; three foster sisters, Mrs. Betty Austin and Ms. Lou Etta Henneghan, both of Florence; and Ms. Anissa Henneghan of Dallas, Texas.; two foster brothers, Donnie Bradley and Ronnie Bradley, both of Coward; and five special children, Mrs. Sherry McFadden of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Iris Parker of the home; Mrs. Tina Youngs of Florence; and Willie Charles Parker and Melissa Parker, both of Pamplico.
SAM MULDROW -- Funeral services for Sam Levan Muldrow, conducted by Bishop Roosevelt Fulton, were held Friday, March 1, 2002, at Evangelistic Temple Way of the Cross Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Spring Bank Cemetery. Mr. Muldrow, 85, widower of Louisa Mouzon Muldrow, died Sunday, February, 24, 2002, at his residence in Cades. He was born June 24, 1916, in Williamsburg County, to the late Sam Edward and Harriet Burgess Muldrow. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a life long farmer. Survivors are: one son, Jack Muldrow, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Harriet Page of Cades; Mrs. Dorothy Mae McFadden of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Janice McFadden of Columbia.
REV. TROY GAUSE -- The Rev. Troy Melton Gause, 69, a retired minister with the South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, died Thursday, February 28, 2002, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Sun., March 3, 2002, at the Kingstree First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. The Rev. Gause was born December 24, 1932, in Williamsburg County, a son of Redden O. Gause and Florence Carraway Gause. He pastored Free Mount Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hemingway for 12 years. Mr. Gause was owner and operator of Hwy. 52 Barber Shop for 30 years. Mr. Gause was also owner of Gause Brothers Scrap Metal; a farmer; a member of the Kingstree Hunting Club; and a member of Free Mount Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hemingway. Survivors are: his wife, Doris Olive Gause of Georgetown; five sons, Keith Marshall Gause and Stanley O. Gause, both of Andrews; Ernest M. Gause and Troy M. Gause, both of Kingstree; Raymond M. Gause of Georgetown; three brothers, Edward Gause, Freddie Gause and Albert Gause, all of Kingstree; and two sisters, Edyfell Ryan of Kingstree; and Modell Reed of Sumter.
