Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Tisdale died Fri., March 8, 2002, at her residence in Salters. She was born in Williamsburg County on Aug. 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Manson McCray and Annie Jane R. McCray. She was an active member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. She was also a member of the Home Charity Lodge and Farmer's Aide Lodge. Survivors are: five sons, Sherman Tisdale of St. Petersburg, FL; Benjamin Tisdale of Tampa, FL; Ivory Tisdale, Ernie Tisdale, and David Tisdale, all of Salters; four daughters, Mrs. Lillian McClary and Mrs. Sara Washington of Buffalo, NY; Mrs. Gloria McGill of Kingstree; Mrs. Alma Pompey of Salters; two step-sons, Carl Tisdale of Loris and Frank Tisdale of Columbia; one step-daughter, Mrs. Betty Washington of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Nehemiah McCray of Salters; and Marion McCray of Tampa, Fl; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Faison of Salters; and Mrs. Irene Scott of Charleston; and one adopted sister, Mrs. Beatrice Jenning of Salters.
LEOLA GAUSE -- Mrs. Leola McKenzie Gause, 89, widow of Hobson R. Gause, died Fri., March 15, 2002, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Sun., March 17, 2002, at Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Gause was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late S.P. and Luther E. McKenzie. She was a homemaker and a member of Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors are: three daughters, Roberta Gannon of Darlington; Vivian Cooper of Lugoff; and Myrtle Powell Smith of Kingstree; four sons, Norman Gause of Florence; Raleigh Gause, Buford Gause and Clarence Gause, all of Kingstree; one sister, Delila R. Evans of Valdosta, GA; and one brother, Edward L. McKenzie of Lake City.
THOMAS HOGAN -- Thomas McMaster Hogan, 79, died Sat., March 16, 2002, in a Sumter hospital. Graveside funeral services directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, were held Mon., March 18, 2002, at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Hogan was born in Lynchburg, a son of Dr. O.F. Hogan and Laura K. Hogan. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and a member of Greeleyville United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Lois McClary Hogan; four daughters, Elaine Putnam of Surfside Beach; Becky Tyler of Gaffney; Thomasena Strickland of Aynor; and Joyce Small of Columbia; one brother, Dr. Otto F. Hogan, Jr., of Greenville; and one sister, Jophelia Holladay of Stone Mountain, GA.
JIMMIE LEE HOLLADAY -- Funeral services for Ret. Tech Sgt. Jimmie Lee Holladay were held Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in the Hebron Independent Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, with military rites, followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Holladay, 70, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born in the Hebron community, a son of the late Ezra Stuckey and Mary Isabell Roberson Holladay. He attended Hebron High School and was a retired veteran of the US Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Mr. Holladay also retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company and was a founding member of the Hebron Indepen-dent Church. Survivors include: his wife, Christine V. Stannard Holladay of Cades; one daughter, Rosemary H. Owens of Cades; three sons, Ricky L. Holladay of Kingstree, Randy S. Holladay of Atlanta Ga., and Ronald A. Holladay of Cades; one sister, Pauline H. Osborne of Cades; and one brother, Eddie E. Kelley of Columbia.
ROBERT TISDALE -- Funeral services for Robert Strong Tisdale were held Saturday, April 6, 2002, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Tisdale Cemetery. Mr. Tisdale, 63, died Tuesday, April, 2, 2002, at his residence in Stillwater, NY. He was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Robert Henry Tisdale and Florence Geneva Strong Tisdale. He was a graduate of the Williamsburg County schools and served in the US Air Force. Mr. Tisdale retired as a comptroller for the State of New York and local retirement systems. Survivors include: his sister, Mildred Tisdale Ambuhl of Surfside and several nieces and nephews.
DEACON ADAM GUIDER -- Funeral services for Adam Guider, conducted by the Rev. William McCants, were held Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Dennis Chapel Baptist Church in Columbia. Burial, directed by McClary Funeral Home, followed in Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery in Richtex, SC. Mr. Guider died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Columbia. He was born May 3, 1908, in Columbia, a son of the late Stephen and Cora Guider. He was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Richtex, SC and was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include: his daughter, Barbara Tate of Charlotte, NC; a stepson, Lewis Seawright of Charlotte, NC; and one sister, Corene Singleton of Columbia.
LETA BROWN -- Leta Smith Brown, 88, widow of Everette Brown, died Thurs., April 4, 2002, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. John Dodd, were held Sat., April 6, 2002, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Tisdale Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born April 4, 1914, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Smith and Mary Boyd Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Survivors are; two sons, Joe E. Brown of Batesburg; and Jerry L. Brown of Kingstree; two brothers, Edward Smith of Andrews; and Hugh Smith of Charleston; and one sister, Maude S. Wilson of Charleston.
AGNES DUKE -- Agnes Mouzon Duke, 73, widow of Bishop LeRoy Duke, died Thurs., April 4, 2002, in a Sumter hospital. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Foster, were held Sun., April 7, 2002, at Midway Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Duke was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Charles Colbert Mouzon and Edna Thomas Mouzon. She was retired from Dubinšs Department Store and Belk Department Store. She was a former treasurer of the Oakdale Community Center and a member of Midway Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the choir. Survivors are: two daughters, Donna Faye D. Welch of Sumter; and Marilyn D. Kennedy of Kingstree; three sisters, Pauline Jasper of Kingstree; Meddie Crabbe of Summerville; and Nina West of Ridgeland; and one brother, Frazier Mouzon of New York.
BEN NELSON, JR. -- Funeral services for Ben Nelson, Jr., were held Thurs., April 4, 2002, at Sandridge Holiness Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mr. Nelson died Sun., March 31, 2002, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born in Williamsburg County on April 26, 1947, a son of the late Ben Nelson and Dinah Singletary. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He retired from Milliken Manufacturer in Kingstree. Survivors are: his wife, Yvonne Nelson of Kingstree; two sons, Ben Nelson, III, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Jamie Nelson of Kingstree; one brother, Roosevelt Nelson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Fulton and Nancy Bell, both of Kingstree.
FLOSSIE MILLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Mae Kelty Miller were held Fri., April 5, 2002, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at McKnight Cemetery in Lane. Mrs. Miller died Sun., March 31, 2002, at Kingstree Nursing Facility in Kingstree. She was born in Lane on Oct. 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Robert Kelty and Letha Dukes Kelty. She received her education in Wil-liamsburg County Public School System. She was formerly employed as a seamstress at Oneita Knitting Mill. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Her affiliations include being a member of Friendly Sisters Order of the Eastern Star #380, the Young Peoples Benefit Association, Y.M.C.A. and the Community Christian Association. Survivors are: her husband, the Rev. Bonus Miller of Lane; five sons, the Rev. Marvin Kelty of Hartsville; Abraham Kelty of Greeleyville; William Kelty of Hartsville; Christopher Kelty of Columbia; Julius Kelty of Glen-Burnie, Maryland; one daughter, Mrs. Shelia Kelty of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Johnny Kelty of St. Petersburg; and six sisters, Leloa Vick of Baltimore, Maryland; Burdell Kelty, Annabelle Thompson, Lattie Kelty, all of Lane; Mrs. Margaretta Gibson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Kelly Murray of Brooklyn, New York.
