Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com BROWN -- Funeral services for Herbert Lee Brown, Jr. were held Monday, November 24, 1997, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lane, conducted by Rev. Robert Poinsett. Burial followed in McKnight Cemetery in Lane directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, 39, died Wednesday, November 19, 1997, in Lane. He was a graduate of C.E. Murray High School class of 1976. He was employed by Brascon Construction Company. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors are: his mother, Mrs. Martharine Brown of Lane; six sisters, Mrs. Ada Mae Pasley of Ft. Myers, Fla.; Mrs. Barbara Williams and Lula Mae Brown, both of Lane; Thelma Lee Brown, Catherine Moultrie and Lear Brown, all of Miami, Fla.; and two brothers, Harry Pasley of Miami, Fla.; and John Pasley of Lane.
DOZIER -- Funeral services for Silverman Quintin Dozier were held Saturday, November 15, 1997, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. Dozier, 39, died Tuesday, November 11, 1997, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Kings-tree. He was born November 22, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of Levi Silverman Dozier, Jr. and Roberta Boyd Dozier. He was a graduate C.E. Murray High School class of 1976. He also attended four years of Job Corp Training. He was a professional painter for several years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: one sister, Alfreda A. Dozier of Columbia; and three brothers, Barry D. Dozier of Manning; Barney C. Dozier of Greeleyville; and LCPL Desmond Marcell Dozier of San Diego, Ca.
WHITE -- Mrs. Tweedie Gardner White died Friday, November 14, 1997, at her home in Kingstree. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 20, 1997, at Mt. Beulah United Methodist Church of Lake City, conducted by Rev. Terry Barrett. Burial followed in Rest Lawn Cemetery in Lake City directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. She was born January 5, 1920, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Mrs. Annie L. McElveen Gardner and Willis J. Gardner. She was a member of Mt. Beulah United Methodist Church, where she sang on the gospel choir. Survivors are: her husband, Willie T. White of the home; one son, James White of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Melva King of Columbia; one brother, Willis Gardner of Baltimore, Md.; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Gardner of Texas; and Mrs. Sarah Gardner of Florence.
MCCRAY -- Funeral services for Adam McCray were held Saturday, November 22, 1997, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters. Burial followed in St. Mary's Church Cemetery in Salters directed by Henryhand Funeral Home. Mr. McCray died Friday, November 14, 1997, at his residence in Salters. He was born March 20, 1926, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Fred McCray and Alice Adam. He was employed by Pier in Wilmington, N.C. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Salters. Survivors are: one brother, Hazel McCray of Trio; and two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Mae Brockington of Clearwater, Fla.; and Mrs. Beatrice McCollough of Salters.
BROWN -- Memorial services for Mrs. Joan K. Brown, 54, were held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at Platt' Belair Road Chapel, conducted by Rev. Robert Fain. Burial followed Thursday, November 27, 1997, at Cedar Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kingstree. Mrs. Brown, wife of Dr. Grayson Brown, died November 24, 1997, at her residence in Evans, Ga. She was the daughter of the late John M. King and Jane Nesmith King. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Tuomey Nursing School in Sumter. She was employed by Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home as a nurse. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Survivors are: three sons, Leon Grayson Brown, Jr. and Walter Todd Brown, both of Evans, Ga.; and Michael Craig Brown of Newman, Ga.; three sisters, Nancy Epps and Peggy Haddock, both of Kingstree; and Jackie Taylor of Johnsonville.
BROWN -- Funeral services for James Demarco Brown were held Wednesday, November 26, 1997, at Black River Baptist Church in Salters, conducted by Reverend James E. Scott. Burial followed in the family plot of the McGill Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Brown, 19, died Saturday, November 22, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Kingstree after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born November 19, 1978, in Kingstree, the son of Saint Luke Brown and the late Julia Victoria McFarlin Brown. He was a 1996 graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. Survivors, in addition to his father of Salters are: three sisters, Audrey Brown of Kingstree; Mrs. Kimberly Gilliard of Greeleyville; and Mrs. Lynette B. Molock of Trenton, N.J.; four brothers, Gregory Brown of Greeleyville; Gifford Brown of Turbeville; Barry Dewitt Brown of New Haven, CT.; and Levar Brown of Kingstree.
GLOVER -- Funeral services for John Glover, Jr. were held Wednesday, November 26, 1997, at Good Hope Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Tommy Shubrick. Burial followed in St. Mary A.M.E. Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Glover, 64, died Friday, November 21, 1997, in Greeleyville. He was born June 19, 1933, a son of the late John Glover, Sr. and Ilar Burgess Glover Matthew. He was employed by General Dynamics as a painter. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was President of Golden Tones, President of Heavenly Charity, served on the Ways and Means Committee, an adult Sunday school teacher, President and Founder of the Faithful Stars, 33 Hartford Consistory #80-Valky of Hartford Orient of Connecticut and Past Master Jeptha Lodge #11, Past Patron O.E.S. Electa Chapter #7, Past High Priest Holy Royal Arch Masons-Burr Chapter #5, Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Royal and Select Masters, Jordon Council #2, Past Eminent Commander, Jerusalem Commandery #2, Grand Commandery of the State of Connecticut, Past Most and Eminent Grand Commander. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Mary M. Glover of Greeleyville; three sons, John W. Glover of Williamantic, CT; Anthony Glover of Norwich, CT; and David Plowden of Manhattan, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Cook of Norwich, CT; Debra Glover of Norwich, CT; and Paulether Glover of Groton, CT; three sisters, Pearl Epps of Greeleyville; Lillie Mae Fulton of Olanta; and Janei Mae Scott of Greeleyville; and his step mother-in-law, Mrs. Beaulah Burgess of Greeleyville.
LITTLEFIELD -- Mrs. Josephine Chaplin Williams Littlefield, 85, widow of Horace Littlefield, died Tuesday, November 25, 1997, in a Kingstree hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 26, 1997, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Littlefield was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late William Harold and Ellen-Reid Rivers Williams. She was a member of the Margaret Gregg Gordon Chapter of the D.A.R. and a member of St. Albanšs Episcopal Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Jackie Kinsey of Lake City; one son, Horace Littlefield of Smithfield, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. P.F. Barry, Sr. of Summerville; and one brother, O. Perry Williams of Jacksonville, Florida.
BROWDER -- Claude Marion Browder, 83, died Wednesday, November 26, 1997, in the VA Medical Center in Columbia. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 30, 1997, in the Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Manning. Burial followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville directed by Stephens Funeral Home of Manning. Born in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Richard and Marian Gamble Browder. He was a salesman for the C.A. Timbes Company, a member of the Greeleyville Masonic Lodge and a member and Deacon of Greeleyville Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Louise Disher Browder of Greeleyville; three sons, Richard M. Browder of Columbia; Jimmy C. Browder of Gaston; and Jerry C. Browder of Gilbert.
WAGNER -- Funeral services for Eric Shaw Wagner were held Saturday, November 29, 1997, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. John A. Sellers. Burial followed in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Wagner, 13, died November 22, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born June 23, 1984, in Kingstree, a son of Derrick Wagner and Alberta Shaw. He was a seventh grade student at Kingstree Junior High. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: one sister, Niesha Wagner of Kingstree; his grandparents, Mrs. Lillian Shaw, Mrs. Jannie Mae Wagner and Ruben V. Wagner, all of Kingstree; his Godfather, Tracey Johnson, of Norwalk, CT; and his Godmother and aunt, Louise Wagner of Norwalk, CT.
