ALLENE SAULS -- Allene Beal Sauls, 74, widow of Barnie R. Sauls, died Sat., July 6, 2002, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Tues., July 9, 2002, at the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Second Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Sauls was born in Siler City, North Carolina, a daughter of Grace Moore and Percy Thomas Beal. She attended North Carolina schools and was a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church. Survivors are: one son, Wayne Beal of Siler City, North Carolina; and three sisters, Ava E. Lee Spivey and Betty Anne Brown of Siler City; and Hettie Mae Larson of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

THELMA GAMBLE -- Thelma Richburg Gamble, 81, widow of Julius Adam Gamble, died Mon., July 8, 2002, at her residence. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. J. Robert Huggins and the Rev. Billy E. Rufus, were held Tues., July 9, 2002, at Suttons United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, followed at the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Gamble was born in Manning on Nov. 19, 1920, a daughter of the late George W. Richburg and Catherine Strange Richburg. She grew up in Clarendon County and graduated from Manning High School. She was employed in the retail clothing business for a number of years. She lived in the Suttons Community of Williamsburg County for many years, where she was a member of Suttons United Methodist Church and the Esther-Elizabeth Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Forever Young group at Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews. Survivors are: one son, J. A. Gamble, Jr., of Lexington; two daughters, Mary G. Cooper and Elaine G. Moore, both of Andrews; one brother, G. Olin Richburg of Sumter; three sisters, Virginia Langley of Sumter; Doris Shelley of Leesburg, Florida; and Helen Lea of Manning.

HAZEL DAVIS -- Hazel Moore Davis, 85, died on July 8, 2002, at Carolinas Hospital-Florence. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Johnson, were held on July 12, 2002, at Highland Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Jernigan Warren Funeral Home, followed at Lafayette Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Davis was born in Trio and was the daughter of the late William Pritchard Moore and Savannah Augusta Moore. She was a life-long member of Highland Presbyterian Church and was an active participant in the Emma Lee Howie Sunday School class and the ladies' church ministries. She was also a member of the Fayetteville Colonial Garden Club where she served in various capacities. Survivors are: her husband, John (Jack) R. Davis; one son, C. Robert Davis of Washington, DC; one daughter, Fran Davis Bolin of Garden City; and two brothers, Charles R. Moore of Kingstree; and J.D. Moore of Andrews.

DAISY CHANDLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Nixon Chandler, conducted by the Rev. Francis Mitchell, Jr., were held Wed., July 17, 2002, at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Union Baptist Church No. 2 Cemetery in Andrews. Mrs. Chandler, 53, a certified health care provider, died Fri., July 12, 2002, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. She was born February 17, 1949, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Deacon Govan Nixon, Sr., and Daisy McCray Nixon. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church No. 2, where she served in many capacities. She was also active in the Williamsburg Missionary Baptist Survivors are: her husband, Sharper "Pete" Chandler, Jr., of the home; two daughters, Virginia "Beauty" Woods of Myrtle Beach; and Tonya M. Chandler of the home; two sons, David Chandler of Myrtle Beach; and Abraham Chandler of Columbus, Ohio; five sisters, Eunice Nixon of Charleston; Mrs. Ann Marie Mondrey of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Vera Lewis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mrs. Alberta Green of Andrews; and Mrs. Willie Mae Washington of Bronx, New York; five brothers, Willie Nixon of Charleston; Jimmy Nixon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Billy Nixon of Summerton; Larry Nixon, Jr., of Rochester, New York; and Govan Nixon, Jr., of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

MARY HUFHAM -- Mrs. Mary Craven Hufham, 79, died Wed., July 10, 2002, at Premier Living Nursing Home. Graveside services, conducted by the Rev. Neil Smith, were held Sat., July 13, 2002, at Clarkton City Cemetery, directed by Gaskins Funeral Home of Clarkton. She was a retired schoolteacher. Survivors are: one daughter, Phyllis Hufham of Clarkton; and one sister, Marguerite Harrell of Kingstree.

SHERYL GREEN -- Funeral services for Sheryl Green, conducted by Rev. Lavern O. Brown, were held Mon., July 22, 2002, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Porter-Ferrell Cemetery. Ms. Green, 31, a cook and cashier, died Wed., July 17, 2002, at her residence. She was born June 24, 1971, to Henry Green, Jr., and Ethel Gamble Green in Salters. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 1989. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Choir. She was employed by Hardeešs of Kingstree for ten years. Survivors, in addition to her parents of the home, are: one daughter, Tekila Kiara Wilkins and one son, Henry Marshall, both of the home; one brother, Terry Lee Green of Salters; and two sisters, Mrs. Yvette Holmes and Mrs. Shema Brown, both of Rochester, New York.

AMOS JOHNSON -- Funeral services for Amos Cohen "AC" Johnson, conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Miller, were held Mon., July 22, 2002, at Old Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Florence National Cemetery. Mr. Johnson, 72, a small engine mechanic, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Ralph Johnson Veteranšs Hospital in Charleston. He was born December 14, 1929, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Amos Cohen Johnson and Lucille Burgess Johnson. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the Men's Organization. He was married to the late Mrs. Beatrice Johnson. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Ella Eaddy of Lake City; one son, Vincent Wilson of Andrews; two brothers, Ronnie Johnson of Columbia; and Arthur L. Johnson of Kingstree; and five sisters, Mrs. Susie Mae Gordon of Andrews; Mrs. Sarah Green, Naomi Tisdale, Olivia Green and Geneva McNeil, all of New Haven, Connecticut.

HERBERT DRUCKER -- H. Herbert (Herb) Drucker, 77, died Fri., July 19, 2002, in a Florence hospital. Graveside funeral services, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, were held Sun., July 21, 2002, in Beth Or Cemetery. Mr. Drucker was born in New York, a son of the late Charles and Anna Levenson Drucker. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and the University of South Carolina with a pharmacy degree. He was employed by Drucker Drugs in Kingstree for 25 years and retired after 22 years as the owner of the Pill Box Pharmacy in Kingstree. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Temple Beth Or, a Mason and a Shriner. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Goldsmith Drucker of Kingstree; one daughter, Lesley Drucker-Reid of Columbia; and one brother, Jerome (Jerry) Drucker of Dallas, Texas.

STEPHANIE McFADDEN -- Mrs. Stephanie S. McFadden, 89, widow of John F. McFadden, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, in a Lake City hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McFadden was born in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Stojeba. She was educated in St. Louis schools and was a retired women's clothing designer. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida before retiring to Kingstree, and was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church. She is survived by three nephews and three nieces.

QUINCY WOODS -- Funeral services for Quincy Levern "Booma" Woods, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Green, were held July 23, 2002, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Crossroads Cemetery. Mr. Woods, 28, a certified nurse's assistant, died Wed., July 17, 2002, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. He was born Feb. 18, 1974, in Kingstree, a son of Mrs. Clara Ann Carraway Woods. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from Kingstree Senior High School. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Kingstree, are: one son, Quinchion Woods of New Haven, Connecticut; one daughter, Destiny Woods of New Haven, Connec-ticut; two brothers, Isaac Woods, Jr., of Kingstree; and Tony Woods of Irvington, New Jersey; and three sisters, Mrs. Marshaun Bell of Hamden, Connecticut; Clara Woods and Sabrina Woods, both of New Haven, Connecticut.
