Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com GUINN -- John Daniel (J.D.) Guinn, 79, died Tuesday, December 2, 1997, at his residence. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 4, 1997, in Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Samuel Shumate. Burial followed in McClary Cemetery directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mr. Guinn was born in Richburg, S.C., a son of the late John S. and Lottie Allen Guinn. He was retired from Marietta Mills in Lando, S.C. He was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and a member of Richburg Masonic Lodge #89, A.F.M. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Lucille Hough Guinn of Kingstree; one daughter, Jean G. Nexsen of Kingstree; and two sisters, Ruth Sanders of Myrtle Beach; and Aileen Rhodes of Rock Hill.
WATTS -- Mary Lou Watts, 71, widow of Othell Watts, died Monday, December 1, 1997, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 4, 1997, at Horse Branch Freewill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Jerry Watson, Rev. James Earl Raper and Rev. Charley Carmack. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home. Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Robinson and Dorothy Coker Robinson. She was a member of Horse Branch Freewill Baptist Church in Turbeville and was formerly employed by Pioneer, Ltd. Survivors are: one son, Gerald O. Watts of Sumter; three daughters, Diane Fulton and Mitsy "Melissa" Watts, both of Sumter; and Betsy Watts of the home; and two brothers, Carlyle Robinson of Kingstree; and Sylvester Robinson of Darlington. Pallbearers were Duane Robinson, Wendell Robinson, Bobby Robinson, OšNeil Robinson, Gene Watts and Robert Watts.
MCCULLOUGH -- Mrs. Ethel Lee McCullough, 67, of Georgetown, died November 30, 1997, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dr. Howard D. Davis. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home in Georgetown. Mrs. McCullough was born April 11, 1930, in Kingstree, the daughter of the late Jimmy and Evelena Washington McFadden. She was a housewife and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Survivors are: four sons, Albert McCullough, Jr. and Michael McCullough of Georgetown; James McCullough of Long Island, N.Y.; and Walter McCullough of Liberty, N.Y.; two daughters, Mary Jones and Renee Canteen of Georgetown; and three sisters, Janett Brown of Georgetown; Stella M. Clark and Jimmie Pearl Florence of Florida.
MCCLAM -- Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Miller McClam were held Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Ranzie Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Herman Gibson. Burial followed in St. Mary A.M.E. Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. McClam, 72, died Sunday, November 30, 1997, in Florence. She was born April 4, 1925, a daughter of the late Turner Miller and Emma Jean Harrison Miller. She was a church member of Ranzie Grove Baptist Church, a member of the Esther Chapter O.E.S. #265, a member and manager of The Southern Jubilee Gospel Singers for over 39 years. Surviving is one son, Lewis Harvey McClam.
MYERS -- Funeral services Sandra Elizabeth Myers were held Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Willie Wilson. Burial followed in Kingstree Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Myers, 40, died Tuesday, December 2, 1997, at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston. She was born March 1, 1957, a daughter of Mrs. Jannie Murphy Myers and the late William Myers. She was employed as a stock broker at Brokerage Hospital. She was a church member of Greater St. Luke AME Church in New York and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. She graduated from Dodge High School in Bronx, N.Y. and Bronx Community College. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Kingstree, are: one son, Tony Cherry, Jr. of New York; one sister, Lillie Myers Barfield of Manhattan, N.Y.; four brothers, Nicholas Murphy and William David Myers, both of New York; and Donald Myers and Terrance Myers, both of Bronx, N.Y.; and one Godchild, Shardae Barfield of New York.
BRUNSON -- Funeral services for Kevin L. Brunson were held Thursday, December 2, 1997, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Brunson, 37, died Monday, December 1, 1997, in an automobile accident in Kingstree. He was born February 13, 1960, in Charleston, a son of the late Rosten Brunson, Sr. and Jessie Mae Lee Brunson. He was a 1977 graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. Survivors are: four sons, Kevin L. Brunson, Jr., Antwan Brunson, Keon Brunson andToni Brunson of Kingstree; four sisters, Mrs. Delores Dorsey of Kingstree; Jessie Fitzgerald Brunson, Erastus Fontaine and Crystal Forshonda Harmon, all of Seattle, Washington; one brother, Rosten Brunson, Jr. of Manning; step-son, Demetrius Owens of Salters; his step-mother, Mrs. Ida Mae Brunson of Kingstree.
RICHARDSON -- Funeral services for Walter "Pappy" Richardson were held Tuesday, December 2, 1997, at Hopewell A.M.E. Church in Hemingway, conducted by Rev. McNeil Evans. Burial followed in Hopewell A.M.E. Church Cemetery directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Richardson, 117, died Wednesday, November 26, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. He was born April 11, 1880, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Will Richardson and Harriett Richardson. He was a retired farmer and a member of Hopewell A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Artis Richardson of Kingstree; three sons, Walter Richardson, Jr., Clifford Richardson and Arthur Richardson, all of Kingstree; and five daughters, Mrs. Linda Hemingway, Betty Richardson, Florence Richardson, Mrs. Queen Esther Hanna and Mrs. Rhonda Barr, all of Kingstree.
SWINTON -- James Swinton, 68, of Andrews, died December 6, 1997, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Swinton were held December 11, 1997, at St. Phillp A.M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Melvin McClennon. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Mr. Swinton was the son the late Charlie and Rhodie Mouzon Swinton. He was a member of St. Phillip A.M.E. Church in Salters. Survivors are: his wife, Luella Swinton of Andrews; one son, Jimmie Swinton of Andrews; five daughters, Rhodia Nesmith, Gail Swinton and Jackie Swinton, all of Andrews; Peggy Evans and Ruthie Knodmmiah, both of Jersey City, N.J.; and four sisters, Rectina McCray, Learleen Tisdale and Ila Mae Snowden, all of Salters; and Jessie Scott of Kingstree.
ALSTON -- Sharnice C. Alston, 5, of Lane, died December 4, 1997, at Carolinas Hospital Systems-Kingstree. Funeral services for Miss Alston were held December 8, 1997, at Charity Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Carl Shaw. Burial followed at the church cemetery directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. Miss Alston was the daughter of Wallace McCray, Jr. and Stephanie McCray. She attended Positive Options School in Georgetown and Anderson Primary School in Kingstree. Survivors, in addition to her parents of Lane, are: two brothers, Jerm and Roshan McCray, both of the home; one sister, Brittany L. Alston of the home; her grandparents, Wallace and Joyce McCray of Lane; her great-granddaddy, Bobby Timmons of Andrews; and great-grandmother, Reatha Beaufort of Salters.
CHANDLER -- Funeral services for Riller Chandler were held Saturday, December 13, 1997, at St. Michael United Methodist Church in Kingstree, conducted by Rev. Dr. Charles R. Connor, Jr. Burial followed in the family plot of the churchyard cemetery directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. Chandler, 79, died Monday, December 8, 1997, at Kingstree Nursing Facility in Kingstree. She was born March 13, 1913, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Sam McCullough and Mary Agnes Chandler McCullough. She was a member of St. Michael United Methodist Church. Survivors are: four sons, Clifford Earl Chandler, Levi Chandler and Herman Chandler, all of Kingstree and Chappell Chandler of Philadelphia, Pa.; five daughters, Janie Lou Chandler and Ruth Mae Chandler, both of Kingstree; Mrs. Virginia Smith and Mrs. Josephine Wilson, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Mrs. Thomasena Terrell of Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Young of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Mrs. Varnie Shirley McCullough of Miami, FL; and one brother, Alpha Robert Obrine of Miami, FL.
