Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com JOHN WILSON -- Funeral services for John Wilson, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Levine, were held Tues., May 6, 2003, at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial, directed Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at McKnight Cemetery. Mr. Wilson, 42, died Wed., April 30, 2003, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina, a son of the late Mrs. Louanna Mitchell and Frank Wilson. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated from C.E. Murray High School. He was formerly employed with Land Mark Hotel in Myrtle Beach and also served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Pearlestine Wilson of Salters; one son, Johndrick Lamar Wilson of Salters; one brother, Willie of Florida; four sisters, Dianne Mitchell of Winston Salem; Kathy of Conway; Mary Newman of Columbia and Mrs. Linda Pasley of California; his grandmother, who reared him as her own, Mrs. Emma Wilson of Greeleyville; and his mother and father-in-law, Ella Felder and Isiah Felder, Jr., of Lane.
GLADYS LITTLES -- Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Littles, conducted by the Rev. James Blassingame, were held Thurs., May 8, 2003, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Hillside Memorial Park. Mrs. Littles, 66, died Sun., May 4, 2003, at Kingstree Nursing Facility. She was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Theodore Barcus and Rosetta Flagler Barcus. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She attended Morris College and South Carolina State University and earned a bachelor of arts degree. She was formerly employed as a school teacher and taught at Manning Primary School and in Sumter District 2 and Sumter District 17. Mrs. Littles was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir and also was a member of Alpha Phi Chi Sorority. Survivors are: one son, Gregory Littles of Columbia; one brother, Leroy Barcus of Hemingway; two sisters, the Rev. Ruby Greene and Mrs. Helen Woodbury, both of Hemingway; and three grandchildren.
ELIZABETH SMITH -- Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, conducted by Elder Thomas Plowden, were held Fri., May 9, 2003, at Bibleway Temple in Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at McKnight Cemetery. Mrs. Smith, 88, died Sat., May 3, 2003, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Lane, a daughter of the late John Wilson and Mossie Wilson. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. Mrs. Smith was a member of Bibleway Temple in Lane. Survivors are: two sons, Walter James Smith and John Arthur Smith, both of Brooklyn, New York; and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Zeigler of Brooklyn, New York; Mrs. Marie Miller of Buffalo, New York; Mrs. Thelma Smith and Mrs. Carrie Dunlap, both of Kingstree.
ODESSA McFADDEN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Odessa Marie McFadden, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Hammett, were held Sat., May 10, 2003, at Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Canaan A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Mrs. McFadden, 73, died Mon., May 5, 2003, in Florence. She was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Georgia, a daughter of the late Jessie Clark. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was formerly employed as a cook at Madison Hotel in Washington, DC. Mrs. McFadden was a member of St. Phillip A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: her husband, Clarence Arnette "Judge" McFadden of Salters; step-children, Mrs. Deloris Green of New Jersey; Clarence Herman McFadden of Georgetown; and Andre McFadden of Egypt; one sister, Mrs. Vassie James of Indianapolis, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Flossie McFadden of Salters; and five grandchildren.
HARTLEY POWELL -- Hartley Leland "Junior" Powell, 77, died Thurs., May 8, 2003, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held Sat., May 10, 2003, at Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Sandy Bay Cemetery. Mr. Powell was born in Williamsburg County, a son of Hartley L. Powell, Sr., and Mamie McKenzie Powell. He attended Williamsburg County schools and was a retired CSX Railroad Section Foreman. Mr. Powell was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church and was the last surviving original member of St. Stephens Hunting Club. Survivors are: his wife, Katherine Knight Powell of Kingstree; one daughter, June P. Holliday of Kingstree; three sons, Leland Powell, Jr., Tommy Powell and Neil Powell, all of Kingstree; one sister, Mary McKenzie of Kingstree; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials be made to Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church.
JAMES GRIFFIN -- Funeral services for James Iva Griffin, conducted by the Rev. Frank James, were held Wed., April 2, 2003, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Griffin, 60, died Thurs., March 27, 2003, at his residence in Kingstree. He was born Dec. 5, 1942, a son of the late David Owens and Reather Griffin. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a Vietnam veteran and served 13 years in the United States military He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Stella Griffin of Kingstree; one son, Iva L. Griffin of Florence; two daughters, Elreatha Griffin and Sharanda Griffin, both of Kingstree; second mother, Mrs. Vinia F. Owens of Kingstree; two brothers, William Owens and David Owens, both of Kingstree; seven sisters, Maxine Bradley, Melba Brunson and Cassandra Owens, all of Kingstree; Beryl Davis of Lane; Carolyn Austin of Raleigh, North Carolina; Nadine Cooke of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Joyce Barr of Kingstree; three grandchildren; and one adopted grandson.
WILLIE FELDER -- Funeral services for Willie D. Felder, conducted by the Rev. Donnie McBride, were held Wed., April 2, 2003, at Lane Chapel A.M.E. Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Gordon Cemetery. Mr. Felder, 53, died Fri., March 28, 2003, at his residence in Salters. He was born Sept. 2, 1950, a son of the late Dranford Felder and Fannie Benbow Felder. He attended and graduated from the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was an Army veteran of th Korean, Vietnam and Gulf Wars. He was a member of Lane Chapel A.M.E. Church. Survivors are: one son, Jeffery Swinton of Columbia; two daughters, Danielle Felder and Telma Felder Holmes, both of Suitland, Maryland; three brothers, Paul Felder and Silas Felder, both of Titusville, Florida; and Robert Felder of Lakeland, Florida; and eight sisters, Queen Jones of Lakeland, Florida; Inell Love of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Rosa Mae Hughes and Josephine Major, both of Lake City; Dorothy Council of Salters; Luvenia Sanders of Titusville, Florida; Louann Fulton of Kingstree; and Mary Benbow of Lane.
KEN PORTER -- Ken Robert Porter, 46, died Wed., March 26, 2003. Memorial services were held Fri., March 28, 2003, at the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Porter was born in Lenni, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Raymond Beecher Porter and Margaret Powers Porter. He was a computer systems analyst. Survivors are: two sisters, Janice P. Johnson of Greeleyville; and Linda P. Murray of Delaware; one brother, Wayne F. Porter of Delaware; and his partner, Esteban Aquino of Johannesburg, South Africa. Memorials may be made to Tidelands Hospice in Georgetown.
WILLIE FULMORE, JR. -- Funeral services for Willie Fulmore, Jr., conducted by the Rev. James A. Graham, Sr., were held Fri., April 4, 2003, at Beulah United Methodist Church in Lake City. Burial was directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home. Mr. Fulmore, 48, died Mon., March 31, 2003, at his residence in Lake City. He was born Sept. 10, 1954, a son of Willie Fulmore, Sr,. and Effie Cameron Fulmore. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Lake City, are: his wife, Mrs. Linda G. Fulmore of the home; four children, Stacy Fulmore, Tisha Fulmore and Jason Fulmore, all of the home; and Natalie Gamble of Lake City; two brothers, Bobby Fulmore and Malcolm Fulmore, both of Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Celestine Alston of Westwood, New Jersey; and Debra E. Fulmore, of Hackensack, New Jersey; his father-in-law, Wadell Gamble of Lake City; and one grandson.
ASHLEY McCLARY -- Funeral services for Ashley "Mac" McClary, conducted by the Rev. Lee C. Bines, were held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mr. McClary, 96, died Sun., March 30, 2003, at St. Vincentıs Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan, New York. Mr. McClary was born March 16, 1907, in Williamsburg County, a son of Jeffrey and Mable Gamble McClary. He received his formal education in the public schools of the county. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where he was treasurer of the Morning Glory Club, Junior Usher, Steward, member of the Church Finance Committee and F.A. Cul-len Club. He served in the United State Navy during World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Nellie White McClary of the home.
