Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com IDELL MILLER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Idell Fluitt Miller, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Hammett, were held Wed., Aug. 27, 2003, at St. Phillip A.M.E. Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at Smith-Cooper Cemetery. Mrs. Miller died Aug. 22, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Charleston. She was the daughter of the late Saul Fluitt and Martha Washington Fluitt-Bradley. She graduated from Blakely High School and did additional studies at Clemson University. She was a member of St. Phillip A.M.E. Church, where she was church school superintendent, WMS president, Christian education director, stewardess, senior choir president, class leader, lay member and official board secretary. She served as Lillie White Chapter #349 OES' recording secretary (from its establishment 42 years ago) until her illness. She was also a member of the United Order of Colored Farmers' Aid, The Christian Community Association and the Young Peoplesı Christian and Benefit Association. Mrs. Millerıs work career began as a farmer. She later was employed by Scotswood Plantation. Her final employment was with Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service from which she retired in 1998. She was married to the late Lewis J. Miller. Survivors are: two sons, William Bernard Miller of Stockbridge, Georgia; and Jimmy Aaron Miller of Kingstree; two who were like sons, Sam Singletary of the home; and Samuel Wilson of Andrews; Mrs. Earline Devone of Bronx, New York was like a daughter; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Holmes of Charleston; two step-sisters, Mrs. Girlene Jackson of Salters; and Mrs. Mae Ruth McCrea of Kingstree; one step-brother, Rich Bradley of Tampa, Florida; two granddaughters, step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.
DAN GEE -- Daniel Revell "Dan" Gee, 76, died Wed., Sept. 3, 2003, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Fri., Sept. 5, 2003, at Kingstree United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Gee was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Itley Reese and Carmie Presley Gee. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Clemson University, and retired after 39 years with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Gee was a lifelong member of the Kingstree United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for several years. He was a former secretary of Kingstree Moose Lodge and was a past president of the Kingstree Jaycees. Mr. Gee was a Army veteran of World War II. Survivors are: his wife, Virginia Brockinton Gee; one daughter, Lou Ann Gee of Kingstree; four sons, Daniel Gee, Jr., of Wake Forest, North Carolina; William Reese Gee of Simpsonville; Charles Brockin-ton Gee of Irmo; and Paul Thompson Gee of Powdersville; and nine grandchildren.
JESSIE COOPER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Hattie Patton Cooper, conducted by the Rev. Leroy McCrea, were held Sat., Sept. 6, 2003, at Foundation A.M.E. Zion in Rock Hill. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Cooper, 67, died Tues., Sept. 2, 2003, in Georgetown. She was born in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late Willie Patton and Daisy Gilmore. She was educated in the public schools of Rock Hill. She was a member of the Church of God Prophecy. Survivors are: her husband, Wilbur Cooper of the home; two sons, Wilbur Lee Cooper of Ft. Washington, Maryland; and Garey Cooper of Kingstree; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Marion Sphinz of Maryland; one brother, Ulysees Patton; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Louise of Edgemore, South Carolina; Mrs. Hanna House of Rock Hill; and Mrs. Bobby Ann Dean of Charlotte, North Carolina; her step-mother, Mrs. Martha Patton of Edgemore, South Carolina; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
TERRY CARRAWAY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Terry Robinson Carraway, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Brockington, were held Sat., September 6, 2003, at St. John 4-B Missionary Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Hunter Cemetery. Mrs. Carraway, 34, died Sat., Aug. 30, 2003, in Troy, New York. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Kelly Robinson and the late Alice Hilton Robinson. She attended and graduated from C.E. Murray High School. Mrs. Carraway was a member of St. John 4-B Missionary Baptist Church in Greeleyville. Survivors, in addition to her father of Greeleyville, are: her husband, William Edward Carraway of Columbia; one son, William Edward Carraway of Kingstree; two daughters, Natasha Monique Carraway and Edwanna Carraway, both of Kingstree; her step-mother, Mrs. Ida Robinson of Greeleyville; two brothers, Kelly Robinson, Jr., of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Kevin Robinson of Salters; one sister, Mrs. Teresa Robinson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and one step-sister, Mrs. Charlene Bright of Salters.
JASON GILLIARD -- Funeral services for Jason Nu'Juan Gilliard, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Ricks, were held Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at McGill Cemetery in Greeleyville. Mr. Gilliard, 20, died Wed., Sept. 3, 2003, at the Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born Jan. 15, 1983, in Eustis, Florida, a son of Kenneth Roychemel Gilliard, Sr., and Kimberley Brown Gilliard. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. Survivors, in addition to his parents, are: two brothers, Kenneth Gilliard, Jr., and Marcus "Flyer" Gilliard, both of Eustis, Florida; four sisters, Tasma Gilliard of Kingstree; Kenisha Gilliard, Jasmine Gilliard and Nicole Gilliard, all of Eustis, Florida.
IONA BROWN -- Mrs. Iona Miles Brown, 52, wife of William Riley Brown, died Thurs., Sept. 4, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Brown, conducted by the Rev. Chris Edwards, were held Sun., Sept. 7, 2003, at the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at McClary Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Thelma Miles and the late Charlie Miles. Mrs. Brown was retired from Williamsburg Regional Hospital and was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Cades, are: her husband, William Riley Brown of Kingstree; one son, Danny Daniels of Auburn, Alabama; two daughters, Dana Daniels of Auburn, Alabama; and Christy Olsen of Augusta, Georgia; three sisters, Valerie Flowers of Lake City; Mary Lee Floyd of Sumter; and Maedean McElveen of Turbeville; three brothers, Wright Miles of Kingstree; Carl Miles of Lake City; and Terry Miles of Florence; two step-sons, Dean Brown of Kingstree; and Lonnie Brown of Portland, Oregon; one step-daughter, Belinda Bell of Kingstree; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Temple.
JAMES LINKE, SR. -- James Reid Linke, Sr., 52, died Wed., July 30, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services were held Sat., August 2, 2003, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Linke was born in Neptune, New Jersey, a son of Willetta Reid Linke and the late Calvin James Linke. He was a graduate of New Jersey schools and was retired from Colonial Rubber. Mr. Linke served in the United States Marines in Vietnam and was a volunteer fireman in New Jersey and Williamsburg County. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of New Jersey, are: his wife, Victoria Marian Mennuti Linke; his children, Calvin Linke, Jody Reid Linke, James Reid Linke, Jr., and Stacee Linke, all of Kingstree; Vicki Nagengast of Douglas, Georgia; Jesse Linke of Coward; Carlee Linke of Hartsville; Bobbi Howle of Florence; two sisters, Jodi Johnson of New Jersey; and Nancy Kollman of Kingstree; and two grandchildren.
JACOB PARKER -- Funeral services for Jacob Chatman Parker, conducted by the Rev. Amos Matthews and the Rev. Carl Shaw, were held Mon., Aug. 4, 2003, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the Florence National Cemetery. Mr. Parker, 83, died Thurs., July 31, 2003, at the Britthaven of Jacksonville Nursing Home in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He was born April 18, 1920, in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Isaac Parker and Hattie Parker. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williams-burg County. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He sang with the Freedom Five Gospel Group for a number of years. Mr. Parker served his country in the United States Army during World War II from July 20, 1942, until January 10, 1946. He obtained the rank of corporal, received the American Theater Campaign Medal and the Tamet Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and was honorably discharged. He also served in the Reserves for a number of years before retiring to Angier, North Carolina. Survivors are: his wife, Elizabeth Thomas-Parker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one son, Cecil Parker of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and one brother, Emanuel Parker of New York, New York.
JAMES McGILL -- Funeral services for James Leverne McGill, conducted by Pastor John P. Kee were held Sat., August 2, 2003, in Charlotte, at the New Life Fellowship Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Long & Son Mortuary Service of Charlotte, North Carolina, was in charge. A viewing in Kingstree was held Tues., Aug. 5, 2003, at the William N. Redmond Memorial Chapel. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the Florence National Cemetery. Mr. McGill, 46, a retired postal worker, died Tues., July 29, 2003, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, North Carolina. He was born Dec. 19, 1956, in Bronx, New York, a son of Thelma McGill and James Soloman. He received his formal education and graduated from the public schools of New York. His occupation was that of an electronic technician. He was Union President of the APWU of Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1983 he enlisted in the United States Navy and received the First Good Conduct Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Second Good Conduct Award. He received a honorable discharge in 1985. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Charlotte, North Carolina, are: his wife, Mrs. Valerie McGill; one daughter, Janell Clark; five sons, Jameel Clark, Khalil Clark, Emmanuel Clark and DaQuam McGill and Craig Wiggins; and two grandchildren.
RICHARD WILLIAMSON -- Richard Marvin Williamson, 58, died Fri., Aug., 1, 2003, in a Charleston hospital. Funeral services were held Sun., Aug. 3, 2003, at Kingstree First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Williamson was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Marvin Ed and Sueada Bradham Williamson. He was employed by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for a number of years and retired as a District Supervisor for the State Budget and Control Board. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are: his wife, Linda Smith Williamson of Kingstree; one son, Richard M. (Rich) Williamson, Jr., of Kingstree; two brothers, Larry Williamson of Manning; and Otto Williamson of Kingstree; and one sister, Jackie Tiller of Knoxville, Tennessee. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church, Kingstree First Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
