Funeral services were held Sat., Jan. 3, 2004, at Cedar Swamp United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at the church cemetery. Mr. Moore was born in Kingstree, a son of the late David W. Moore, Sr. and Josephine Nexsen Moore. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in cost accounting and was a former teacher in the Williamsburg County School System. He was a member of Cedar Swamp United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two daughters, Elliott Elizabeth McGill Moore and Lauren Alexandria Moore, both of Kingstree; two sisters, Sandra Frances Moore and Karen Moore Boyd, both of Kingstree; his former wife, LoBet McGill Moore of Kingstree; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Moore Family Fund, c/o Cedar Swamp Methodist Church, Kingstree. S.C.
MARY FOOTMAN -- Mary Beth Richburg Footman, 36, wife of Ronnie Eugene Footman, died Thurs., Jan. 1, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services were held Sun., Jan. 4, 2004, at Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Richburg Cemetery. Mrs. Footman was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Elbert and Helen Osborne Richburg. Mrs. Footman attended Williamsburg County schools and was a homemaker. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Greeleyville, are: two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Footman and April Danielle Footman, both of Greeleyville; two brothers, Kelvin Richburg of Wilson; and Russell Richburg of Greeleyville.
PENELOPE SNOW -- Penelope Grainger Snow, 69, wife of John J. "Bubber" Snow, III, died Jan. 4, 2004, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Tues., Jan. 6, 2004, at the Union United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Snow was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Tabor City, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Carson and Sallie Jackson Grainger. She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church. A graduate of Columbia College, Mrs. Snow served as a librarian at Tabor City High School. She taught and was also a librarian in the Pleasant Hill Schools. She was a part of Allison Dillard's Apparel in Hemingway. Survivors are: her husband, John J. "Bubber" Snow, III of the home; one son, John J. Snow, IV of Hemingway; two daughters, Penelope Hayes and Sallie Snow, both of Mt. Pleasant; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church, c/o L. Mayo Creel, 928 S. State Hwy. 41-51, Hemingway, South Carolina 29554, or the South Carolina Heart Association, Post Office Box 6604, Columbia, South Carolina 29260.
LILLIE HALL -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Ann Camp Hall, conducted by Bishop Amos Major, were held Sat., Jan. 24, 2004, at the House of God No. 1 Holiness Church of Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the State Cemetery in Cades. Mrs. Hall, 50, died Tues., Jan. 20, 2004, at the Carolinas Hospital System-Lake City. She was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Mrs. Lillie B. Burgess and Willie Camp, Sr. She attended the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Lake City High School. She also attend nursing school, where she studied to become a nurse. She was a member of the House of God No. 1 Holiness Church. She worked as a certified nurse assistant at several different nursing homes and hospitals. She was married to Jerome Hall. Survivors, in addition to her mother of Lake City, are: two children, Martino Camp of Lake City; and Lakeshia Goodbread of Lake City; four brothers, Deacon John S. "Joe" McClary, Roger Major and Willie Camp, Jr., all of Lake City; and Marion Camp of Kingstree; seven sisters, Mrs. Willa Dean Meadows of Nashville, Tennessee; Mrs. Josephine Tisdale and Mrs. Ruth Miller, both of Kingstree; Mrs. Gail Sessions, Mrs. Stella Grady, Mrs. Judy Major and Carolyn Burgess, all of Lake City; and one adopted brother, Edward Nelson of Augusta, Georgia.
FANNIE KEELS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Keels, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Shubrick, were held Wed., Jan. 28, 2004, at Good Hope Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Mrs. Keels, 86, died Sat., Jan. 24, 2004, at Lake Moultrie Nursing Facility in St. Stephen. She was born Oct. 17, 1917, a daughter of the late Buxie Bradshaw and Alice Wells. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a former member of St. John 4-B Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher. She joined Good Hope Baptist Church and was a member of Y.M.C.A. Survivors are: one son, Luther Moore of Troy, New York; six sisters, Mrs. Larena Joe of Greeleyville; Mrs. Queen Wallace, Mrs. Mary Lawson and Mrs. Rosena Joe, all of Titusville, Florida; Mrs. Ollie Mae Bennett and Mrs. Christine Bradshaw, both of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Dozier Bradshaw of Palmetto, Florida; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
CHRISTOPHER STRONG -- Christopher Wayne (Chris) Strong, 19, died Tues., Jan. 27, 2004, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Thurs., Jan. 29, 2004, at the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery near Manning. Mr. Strong was born in Kingstree, a son of Bruce Wayne Strong and Linda Eaddy Strong. He was a member of the junior class of West Florence High School and a member of Deep Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Kingstree, are: two brothers, Gary Strong of Kingstree; and John D. Strong of Greeleyville; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Eaddy of Kingstree; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lois Strong of Kingstree. Memorials may be made to the Pee Dee Center for Disabilities and Special Needs, National Cemetery Road, Florence, South Carolina.
VARNADORE WILLIAMSON -- Varnadore M. "Willie" Williamson, 84, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Sat., Jan. 24, 2004, in a Virginia health care facility. Memorial services, conducted by Pastor Bruce Wollenberg, were held Thurs., Jan. 29, 2004, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Entombment, directed by Teague Funeral Home, followed at the Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Born in South Carolina on March 27, 1919, he was the son of the late Needham R. and Mary 'Molly' McCutcheon Williamson. Mr. Williamson was a retired Lt. Commander with the United States Navy and had served as a remodeling supervisor for the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He was a member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church, Charlottesville, Charles T. Morton Lodge #232 AF & AM, Norfolk, Virginia, Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Sojourners and the Military Officers Association. Survivors are: his wife, Laura S. Williamson of Charlottesville, Virginia; three daughters, Virginia "Ginger" W. Marcinko of Charlottesville, Virginia; Eva M. Walker of Dayton, Ohio; and Carole W. Curtis of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one son, Alan M. Williamson of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, JABA, the Evergreen Meadows in Stanardsville, or Williamson Cemetery c/o Aubrey Williamson, 325 Birchwood Drive, Kingstree, South Carolina 29556.
LIZZIE NELSON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Calhoun Nelson, conducted by the Rev. James Cannion, will be held Thurs., Feb. 5, 2004, at St. John United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Chandler Cemetery in Lynchburg. Mrs. Nelson, 67, died Thurs., Jan. 29, 2004, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born July 6, 1917, in Kingstree, a son of the late Isaac and Jannie Bradley Calhoun. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was employed for several years as a cook at St. John Elementary School. She was married to the late James Nelson. Survivors are: five sisters, Mrs. Nancy Fleming of Brooklyn, New York; Mrs. Frances Dilliard of Mt. Vernon, New York; Mrs. Evelyn Roberson, Mrs. Minnie Payne and Mrs. Lillie Collins, all of Pontiac, Michigan; four grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
ELOISE KEELS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise Pringle Keels, conducted by the Rev. Shubrick, were held Tues., Feb. 3, 2004, at Good Hope Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Big Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Keels, 94, died Wed., Jan. 28, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Dec. 21, 1909, a daughter of the late Jack Pringle and Phyllis Pringle. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she served as church missionary, and Mother of the Church. She also was a member of the Y.M.C.A and a former member of Household of Ruth. Survivors are: three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Keels of Greeley-ville; Mrs. Sara Wells of Kingstree; and Mrs. Mary Louise Hammett of Troy, New York; one son, Willie Keels of Columbia; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
MARY WALLACE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ella Wallace, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Williams, were held Sat., Jan. 31, 2004, at Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church in Lane. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed at the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Wallace died Tues., Jan. 27, 2004. She was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Willie Melvin Cokley and Josephine McCutchen Cokley. She received her formal education in the Williamsburg County school system. She was employed by the Charleston Shipyard. She was a member of Greater Jerusalem A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Missionary and Usher Board. She was married to the late William Wallace. Survivors are: four daughters, Mary Louise McKoy and Ernestine Wallace, both of Lane; Josephine McBride of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and Loretta Bailey of Richmond, Virginia; two sons, William Wallace, Jr., of Richmond, Virginia; and the Rev. Sylvester Wallace of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
