Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Cemetery. Mr. Chandler, 22, died Fri., Feb. 6, 2004, in Kingstree. He was born June 8, 1981, a son of Mrs. Joanne Adams and the late Thomas Smith. He attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a former employee of McDonalds Inc. of Kingstree. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are: two brothers, Deshorne Chandler of Bishopville; and Joseph Smith of Kingstree; five sisters, Mrs. Tameeka Pressley, Tanisha Chandler, Amanda Chandler, Mrs. Kaseema Singletary and Mary Chandler, all of Kingstree; his grandparents, Mrs. Amanda Smith Chandler and Sanders Chandler of Kingstree
JOSEPH DICKSON, SR. -- Joseph E. Dickson, Sr., 88, of Lake City, died Fri., Feb. 13, 2004, in a hospital. Graveside funeral services were held Sun., Feb. 15, 2004, at Lake City Memorial Park. Mr. Dickson was born in Manning, a son of the late James F. and Alida Fulton Dickson. He was a graduate of Manning High School and attended Furman University. He was a former Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder at the Lake City Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church. Mr. Dickson was a retired farmer. Survivors are: one son, Joe E. Dickson, Jr. of West Columbia; one daughter, Viva D. Herscher of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Alice I. Fitzhugh of San Antonio, Texas; four grandson; and one great-granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kingstree Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 904, Kingstree, South Carolina 29556.
ANNIE DUKES -- Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Dell Dukes, conducted by the Rev. Edward McLeod, were held Wed., Feb. 11, 2004, at Wilson United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Big Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Dukes, 75, died Fri., Feb. 6, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born Jan. 15, 1929, a daughter of the late John Dukes and Mary Ann Dukes. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County. Later she attended Allen University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree. She was formerly employed by Walter Reid Hospital. She was a member of Wilson United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Marian L. Dukes of the home; one sister, Mrs. Rosella Keels of Columbia; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
FRANCES BRADLEY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Louise Pressley Bradley, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Lee Curtis Bines, were held Mon., Feb. 16, 2004, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Burroughs Cemetery in Nesmith. Mrs. Bradley, 84, died Feb. 12, 2004, at Kingstree Nursing Facility. She was born in Nesmith, a daughter of the late William Steele Bradley and Rosa Blanche Harrison Pressley. She was married to the late James Bradley. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She served her church as a member of and the organizer of the churchıs gospel choir. She was a Communion Steward and a member of the Food Committee at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors are: three sisters, Mrs. Illa Bell Pressley and Mrs. Rosa Cooper, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Easter Burgess of New York City, New York; and one brother, Ocels Pressley of Cedarville, New Jersey.
MARGARETE BARRINEAU -- Mrs. Margarete Rodgers Barrineau, 85, widow of Jeddie D. Barrineau, died Sat., Feb. 14, 2004, in a Kingstree nursing home. Funeral services were Mon., Feb. 16, 2004, at the Williamsburg Funeral Chapel. Burial directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at McClary Cemetery. Mrs. Barrineau was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Lewis and Pearl Patrick Rodgers. She was a homemaker and a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Hazel Barrineau of Kingstree; three sisters, Myrtle Lee Goss of Batesburg; Cecile Irene Cottingham of Sumter; and Clarice Davis of Georgetown; and one brother, Clarence T. Rodgers of Ballentine. Memorials may be made to Epworth Childrenıs Home or McClary Cemetery fund.
LYDIA KIRBY -- Lydia Epps Kirby, 88, of Kingstree, died Sat., Feb. 14, 2004, at the Kingstree Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Mon., Feb. 16, 2004, at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at church cemetery. Born in Williamsburg County on July 22, 1915, Mrs. Kirby was the daughter of Joe and Julia Epps. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Greeleyville. Survivors are: one son, Jimmy Kirby of Kingstree; five grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
HELEN TIMMONS -- Mrs. Helen Scott Timmons, 91, widow of Julius A. Timmons, Sr., died Thurs., Feb. 12, 2004, in a Kingstree nursing facility. Funeral services were held Sun., Feb. 15, 2004, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Timmons was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of Arrie Buddin Scott and George Walter Scott. She was a homemaker and a member of Greeleyville United Methodist Church. Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Jack Galliher of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and Mrs. Harry Osborne, Sr. (Barbara) of Salters; one son, Julius A. Timmons, Jr. of Salters; six sisters, Evelyn Cain of Columbia; Edna Mims of Lake City; Janet McCrea of Andrews; Gracie Chandler of Lane; Virginia Tedder of Kingstree; and Doris Tisdale of St. Stephens; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to Greeleyville United Methodist Church.
ADELLE LOVETT -- Mrs. Adelle Ward (Mickey) Lovett, widow of George J. Lovett, died Wed., Feb. 11, 2004, at the Presbyterian Home in Summerville. Funeral services were held Fri., Feb. 13, 2004, at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home, followed at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lovett was born in Kingstree, a daughter of the late George Washington Ward and Margaret Elizabeth Frierson Ward. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and retired from the Williamsburg County Public School System. Mrs. Lovett was a volunteer at Williamsburg Regional Hospital and worked with hospice in Williamsburg County for ten years. She was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, the Women of the Church and the youth program. Survivors are: one daughter, Linda L. Parker of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, George J. Lovett of Beaufort; and Thomas L. Lovett of Summerville; one sister, Mrs. John W. Davis (Dot) of Greenville; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Summerville Presbyterian Home or Lutheran Hospice of Mt. Pleasant.
EBONY SMITH -- Funeral services for Baby Girl Ebony Kiandre Smith, conducted by the Rev. Pastel, were held Wed., Feb. 25, 2004, at Greater St. James A.M.E. Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Restlawn Cemetery. Baby Girl Smith, four months old, died Sat., Feb. 14, 2004, at Conway Hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 2003, a daughter of Wesley Smith and Charlene Dandridge. Survivors, in addition to her parents, are: one brother, Tyrel Davis of Socastee; and her grandparents, William Fulmore of Scranton, Mrs. Hazel Smith and Jackie Smith of St. Stephen.
GERTRUDE McDUFFIE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Getrude Miriam McClary McDuffie, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Lee Curtis Bines, were held Sat., Feb. 28, 2004, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mrs. McDuffie, 92, died Tues., Feb. 24, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. She was born in Kingstree on Nov. 20, 1911, a daughter of the late Lizzie Hanna McClary and John McClary. She was a graduate of Tomlinson High School. She was an entrepreneur early in life. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served the church as a member of the United Methodist Church and Circle No. One. Survivors are: a host of nieces and nephews.
