Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com BENJAMIN McCLARY -- Funeral services for Benjamin Europe McClary, conducted by Rev. William McClary, were held at Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Missionary Church in Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Faith United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. McClary, 68, a retired wood product warehouse foreman, died Sun., June 27, 2004, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. He was born July 30, 1935, in Kingstree, a son of the late Enoch McClary, Sr., and Mary McAllister McClary. He received his formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was a member of Mt. Zion Apostolic Faith Church and served on the missionary board. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Patsy Graham McClary of the home; four sons, Darryl S. McClary and Earl McClary, both of Jamaica, New York; Glen McClary of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and Jermaine McClary of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Brenda McClary of Jamaica, New York; Silina Newman and Lisa McClary, both of North Carolina; one brother, Enoch McClary, Jr., of Jamaica, New York; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Felton and Mrs. Marie Seward, both of Eutis, Florida; and Mrs. Barbara Holt of Jackson Height, New York; and five grandchildren.
DAVID McDANIEL -- David Guerry McDaniel, 28, of Panama City Beach, Florida, died Sun., June 27, 2004, in Orlando. A private graveside service was held Fri., July 2, 2004, at Evergreen Cemetery in Panama City Beach, Florida, directed by Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home of Dothan, Alabama. Mr. McDaniel was born in Opelika, Alabama, on April 6, 1976. He was a full-time student at the University of Central Florida. Survivors are: his parents, Ron B. McDaniel and Jean Guerry McDaniel; and one brother, Justin Tradd McDaniel of Panama City Beach, Florida.
KATHERINE BROWN -- Katherine Bookhardt Brown, 84, wife of John S. Brown, Jr., died Mon., June 28, 2004, in a Florence hospital. Funeral services were held Thurs., July 1, 2004, at Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 25, 1919, in Vance, a daughter of the late Harry F. Bookhardt and Emily Wade Hart Bookhardt. She was a former employee of the Exchange Bank of Kingstree, Santee Electric Co-op and was retired from Williamsburg First National Bank. Mrs. Brown was a member of the United Church of God. Survivors, in addition to her husband of Kingstree, are: one daughter, Linda W. Brown of Kingstree; and one nephew, Zeno H. Montgomery of Columbia. Memorials may be made to The Williamsburg Regional Hospital Foundation, 500 Nelson Blvd., Kingstree, SC 29556.
MARY TISDALE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Magdalene Chandler Tisdale, conducted by Elder Richard Conyers, were held Sun., July 4, 2004, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, where Rev. Franklin James is the pastor. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Broughton Cemetery in Trio. Mrs. Tisdale died Sun., June 27, 2004, at Carolinas Hospital System-Florence. She was born on Aug. 5, 1929, in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Rev. Edward Tisdale and Pearlie McKnight Chandler. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She retired from Jamestown Wool Mill in Jamestown as a machine operator. She was a member of St. Mary Apostolic Faith Holiness Church in Kingstree, where she served as church and District Missionary President and president of the Senior Choir. She was married to the late Elder Eugene Tisdale. Survivors are: six daughters, Eddie M. Tisdale of the home; Mrs. Martha Mitchum and Mrs. Sharon Johnson of Trio; Mrs. Mary DeBerry and Evangelist Sarah Godard of Brooklyn, New York; and Mrs. Teartha Macmillan of Rochester, New York; a nephew, whom she loved as a son, Elder Lee Roy McClary of Andrews; one brother, James Chandler of Kingstree; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four spiritual children, whom she loved as her own, Martha Johnson, Mrs. Paulette Moore and Jessie Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Zeddie Bryant of Delran, New Jersey.
LEROY SCOTT -- Funeral services for Leroy Lee Scott, Sr., conducted by the Rev. Herbert Goodwin, were held Mon., July 5, 2004, at Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingstree. Mr. Scott died Mon., June 28, 2004, at his home in Kingstree. He was born in Williamsburg County on July 26, 1935, the son of the late Vinnie Budden Scott and William C. Scott. He was formally educated in Philadelphia County, Pennsyl-vania. After high school, he furthered his education with a degree in automotive mechanics (ace mechanic) and body fabrication. In addition, he received formal education in the field of electrical engineering. Throughout the years, Leroy served as a Philadelphia police officer, military serviceman (served a tour in the Korean Conflict), and a long distance truck driver. He was a member of Wilson Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors are: two daughters, Olivia Hunter of Hampton, Virginia; and Brenda V. Scott of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one step-daughter, Cherry Tinnighon; four sons, Bernard Carter, PFC of Scranton, Pennsylvania; Leroy Lee Scott, II, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Irvin E. Scott of Duluth, Georgia; and Courtney B. Scott of Camden, New Jersey; three brothers, Abraham Scott of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Joshua Scott and Leroy B. Scott, both of Kingstree; and 15 grandchildren.
LOUISE McFADDEN -- Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Singletary McFadden, conducted by Rev. Jack Peterson, were held Wed., Sept. 15, 2004, at the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Lake City. Burial, directed by Samuels and Richardson Funeral Home, followed at the State Cemetery in Cades. Mrs. McFadden, 87, died Thurs., Sept. 9, 2004, in Carolinas Hosptial System-Florence. She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Westly Singletary, Sr., and Mrs. Irene Singletary. She received her formal education in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She was lifelong member of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was married to the late James McFadden, Jr. Survivors are: seven daughters, Mrs. Sarah Graham, Mrs. Marguree Evans, Laura Scott and Mrs. Diane Adams, all of Lake City, Mrs. Betty Barr of Kingstree, and Mrs. Caletha Georgia and Mrs. Lena Addison, both of Dana, Florida; two sons, Ernest McFadden, Jr., of Dana, Florida, and James Edward McFadden of Lake City; two granddaughters she reared as her very own, Mrs. Kim Burgess and Della McFadden of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Rosena Graham and Mrs. Letha Brayboy, both of Lake City; one brother, Westly Singletary, Jr., of Cades; 29 additional grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
LEANNA COLLIER -- Funeral services for Mrs. Leanna Wright Collier, 86, of Denmark, were held Thurs., Sept. 16, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Denmark. Burial, directed by Mercer Funeral Home, followed in Denmark Cemetery. Mrs. Collier died Mon., Sept. 13, 2004, in Bamburg Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Augusta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Leroy and Lillian Williams Wright. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Bethany-Hannah Sunday School Class, Senior Citizens Club, former member of the John Cave Circle, former president of the Sixty Plus Club and mission action chairman of the WMU. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Railroad Trainmen for 55 years in Augusta. She was the widow of William Elvie Collier. Survivors are: one son, Thomas Collier of Kingstree, one daughter, Mary C. Polasky of Denmark; four granddaughters and one great-grandson.
W.T. COX -- W.T. Cox, 58, died Mon., Sept. 13, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Earl Alford, were Wed., Sept. 15, 2004, at Bloomingvale Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, followed at Piney Forest Cemetery. Mr. Cox was born Oct. 21, 1945, a son of Herman Bouchette and the late Troy Cox. He grew up in the Warsaw section of Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg High School. Mr. Cox was the former owner of Cox Brothers Housing and Cox Maintenance, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Bloomingvale Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Andrews, are: his wife, Gwen Blanton Cox of Andrews; one son, Jason W. Cox of Andrews; one sister, Carol C. Glock of Florence; two brothers, Aubrey Cox of Georgetown and Woody Cox of Andrews; and one granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be sent to Tidelands Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, SC 29440 or the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
NANCY OWENS -- Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Johnson Owens, 54, died Mon., Sept. 6, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services were held Wed., Sept. 8, 2004, at Nesmith Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home in Hemingway, followed at the church cemetery. Mrs. Owens was born in Nesmith, a daughter of Mrs. Jennie Mae Altman Johnson and the late Robert L. Johnson. She was a member of Nesmith Baptist Church, where she served as church clerk and president of the Women on Mission. She was a graduate of Indiantown High School and attended the Baptist College of Charleston. She owned and operated Now and Then Antiques. Surviving, in addition to her mother of Nesmith, is one son, Robi D. Owens of Simpsonville. GLADYS EPPS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys McAllister Epps, conducted by Rev. Joshua Gaskins, were held Sun., Sept. 19, 2004, at St. Mary United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dimery and Rogers Funeral Home, followed at St. Mary AME Church Cemetery. Mrs. Epps, 87, died Wed., Sept. 15, 2004, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree. She was born in Kingstree, a daughter of the late William Billy McAllister and Nora Smith McAllister. She was a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church. Survivors are: her husband, Isiah Epps of Cades; three sons, David Isiah Epps of Florida, John Wesley Epps of Cades and Leroy Epps of Indianapolis, Indiana; six daughters, Mrs. Rosa Swinney and Mrs. Mary Williams, both of Kingstree, Mrs. Lillie Mae McFadden of Lake City, Mrs. Laura McFadden, Mrs. Nora Franklin and Mrs. Elizabeth Burgess, all of Cades; one sister, Mrs. Mary Magelene Collier of Lake City; 45 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
